And when the day of Pentecost was now come, they were all together in one

五旬節の日がきて、みんなの者が一緒に集まっていると、 |

suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of the rushing of a mighty
wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. |
突然、激しい風が吹いてきたような音が天から起ってきて、一同がすわっていた家いっぱいに響きわたった。 |

And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire;
and it sat upon each one of them. |
また、舌のようなものが、炎のように分れて現れ、ひとりびとりの上にとどまった。 |
| 2-4 |
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with
other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. |
すると、一同は聖霊に満たされ、御霊が語らせるままに、いろいろの他国の言葉で語り出した。 |
| 2-5 |
Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation
under heaven. |
さて、エルサレムには、天下のあらゆる国々から、信仰深いユダヤ人たちがきて住んでいたが、 |
| 2-6 |
And when this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were confounded,
because that every man heard them speaking in his own language. |
この物音に大ぜいの人が集まってきて、彼らの生れ故郷の国語で、使徒たちが話しているのを、だれもかれも聞いてあっけに取られた。 |
| 2-7 |
And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying, Behold, are not all these
that speak Galilaeans? |
そして驚き怪しんで言った、「見よ、いま話しているこの人たちは、皆ガリラヤ人ではないか。 |
| 2-8 |
And how hear we, every man in our own language wherein we were born? |
それだのに、わたしたちがそれぞれ、生れ故郷の国語を彼らから聞かされるとは、いったい、どうしたことか。 |
| 2-9 |
Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, in Judaea
and Cappadocia, in Pontus and Asia, |
わたしたちの中には、パルテヤ人、メジヤ人、エラム人もおれば、メソポタミヤ、ユダヤ、カパドキヤ、ポントとアジヤ、 |

in Phrygia and Pamphylia, in Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene,
and sojourners from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, |
フルギヤとパンフリヤ、エジプトとクレネに近いリビヤ地方などに住む者もいるし、またローマ人で旅にきている者、 |

Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our tongues the mighty works
of God. |
ユダヤ人と改宗者、クレテ人とアラビヤ人もいるのだが、あの人々がわたしたちの国語で、神の大きな働きを述べるのを聞くとは、どうしたことか」。 |
| 2-12 |
And they were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying one to another, What
meaneth this? |
みんなの者は驚き惑って、互に言い合った、「これは、いったい、どういうわけなのだろう」。 |
| 2-13 |
But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine. |
しかし、ほかの人たちはあざ笑って、「あの人たちは新しい酒で酔っているのだ」と言った。 |
| 2-14 |
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and
spake forth unto them, saying, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto
you, and give ear unto my words. |
そこで、ペテロが十一人の者と共に立ちあがり、声をあげて人々に語りかけた。「ユダヤの人たち、ならびにエルサレムに住むすべてのかたがた、どうか、この事を知っていただきたい。わたしの言うことに耳を傾けていただきたい。 |

For these are not drunken, as ye suppose; seeing it is but the third hour of the day. |
今は朝の九時であるから、この人たちは、あなたがたが思っているように、酒に酔っているのではない。 |
| 2-16 |
but this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel: |
そうではなく、これは預言者ヨエルが預言していたことに外ならないのである。すなわち、 |
| 2-17 |
And it shall be in the last days, saith God,/ I will pour forth of my Spirit upon all flesh:/ And your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy,/ And your young men shall see visions, /And your
old men shall dream dreams: |
『神がこう仰せになる。終りの時には、／わたしの霊をすべての人に注ごう。そして、あなたがたのむすこ娘は預言をし、／若者たちは幻を見、／老人たちは夢を見るであろう。 |
| 2-18 |
Yea and on my servants and on my handmaidens in those days /Will I pour forth of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. |
その時には、わたしの男女の僕たちにも／わたしの霊を注ごう。そして彼らも預言をするであろう。 |
| 2-19 |
And I will show wonders in the heaven above, /And signs on the earth beneath;
/Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke: |
また、上では、天に奇跡を見せ、／下では、地にしるしを、／すなわち、血と火と立ちこめる煙とを、／見せるであろう。 |
| 2-20 |
The sun shall be turned into darkness, /And the moon into blood, /Before the day of the Lord come, /That great
and notable day. |
主の大いなる輝かしい日が来る前に、／日はやみに／月は血に変るであろう。 |
| 2-21 |
And it shall be, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord
shall be saved. |
そのとき、主の名を呼び求める者は、／みな救われるであろう』。 |
| 2-22 |
Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of
God unto you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him
in the midst of you, even as ye yourselves know; |
イスラエルの人たちよ、今わたしの語ることを聞きなさい。あなたがたがよく知っているとおり、ナザレ人イエスは、神が彼をとおして、あなたがたの中で行われた数々の力あるわざと奇跡としるしとにより、神からつかわされた者であることを、あなたがたに示されたかたであった。 |

him, being delivered up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of
God, ye by the hand of lawless men did crucify and slay: |
このイエスが渡されたのは神の定めた計画と予知とによるのであるが、あなたがたは彼を不法の人々の手で十字架につけて殺した。 |
| 2-24 |
whom God raised up, having loosed the pangs of death: because it was not
possible that he should be holden of it. |
神はこのイエスを死の苦しみから解き放って、よみがえらせたのである。イエスが死に支配されているはずはなかったからである。 |
| 2-25 |
For David saith concerning him, /I beheld the Lord always before my face; /For he is on my right hand, that
I should not be moved: |
ダビデはイエスについてこう言っている、／『わたしは常に目の前に主を見た。主は、わたしが動かされないため、／わたしの右にいて下さるからである。 |
| 2-26 |
Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; /Moreover my flesh also shall dwell in hope: |
それゆえ、わたしの心は楽しみ、／わたしの舌はよろこび歌った。わたしの肉体もまた、望みに生きるであろう。 |
| 2-27 |
Because thou wilt not leave my soul unto Hades, /Neither wilt thou give thy Holy One to see corruption. |
あなたは、わたしの魂を黄泉に捨ておくことをせず、／あなたの聖者が朽ち果てるのを、お許しにならない／であろう。 |
| 2-28 |
Thou madest known unto me the ways of life; /Thou shalt make me full of
gladness with thy countenance. |
あなたは、いのちの道をわたしに示し、／み前にあって、わたしを喜びで満たして下さるであ／ろう』。 |
| 2-29 |
Brethren, I may say unto you freely of the patriarch David, that he both
died and was buried, and his tomb is with us unto this day. |
兄弟たちよ、族長ダビデについては、わたしはあなたがたにむかって大胆に言うことができる。彼は死んで葬られ、現にその墓が今日に至るまで、わたしたちの間に残っている。 |

Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an
oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins he would set one upon his throne; |
彼は預言者であって、『その子孫のひとりを王位につかせよう』と、神が堅く彼に誓われたことを認めていたので、 |
| 2-31 |
he foreseeing this spake of the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was he left unto
Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. |
キリストの復活をあらかじめ知って、『彼は黄泉に捨ておかれることがなく、またその肉体が朽ち果てることもない』と語ったのである。 |
| 2-32 |
This Jesus did God raise up, whereof we all are witnesses. |
このイエスを、神はよみがえらせた。そして、わたしたちは皆その証人なのである。 |
| 2-33 |
Being therefore by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of
the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he hath poured forth this, which
ye see and hear. |
それで、イエスは神の右に上げられ、父から約束の聖霊を受けて、それをわたしたちに注がれたのである。このことは、あなたがたが現に見聞きしているとおりである。 |

For David ascended not into the heavens: but he saith himself, /The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, |
ダビデが天に上ったのではない。彼自身こう言っている、／『主はわが主に仰せになった、 |
| 2-35 |
Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet. |
あなたの敵をあなたの足台にするまでは、／わたしの右に座していなさい』。 |
| 2-36 |
Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly, that God hath made
him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom ye crucified. |
だから、イスラエルの全家は、この事をしかと知っておくがよい。あなたがたが十字架につけたこのイエスを、神は、主またキリストとしてお立てになったのである」。 |
| 2-37 |
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of
the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do? |
人々はこれを聞いて、強く心を刺され、ペテロやほかの使徒たちに、「兄弟たちよ、わたしたちは、どうしたらよいのでしょうか」と言った。 |
| 2-38 |
And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be baptized every
one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
すると、ペテロが答えた、「悔い改めなさい。そして、あなたがたひとりびとりが罪のゆるしを得るために、イエス・キリストの名によって、バプテスマを受けなさい。そうすれば、あなたがたは聖霊の賜物を受けるであろう。 |
| 2-39 |
For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that
are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call unto him. |
この約束は、われらの主なる神の召しにあずかるすべての者、すなわちあなたがたと、あなたがたの子らと、遠くの者一同とに、与えられているものである」。 |
| 2-40 |
And with many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, Save
yourselves from this crooked generation. |
ペテロは、ほかになお多くの言葉であかしをなし、人々に「この曲った時代から救われよ」と言って勧めた。 |
| 2-41 |
They then that received his word were baptized: and there were
added unto them in that day about three thousand souls. |
そこで、彼の勧めの言葉を受けいれた者たちは、バプテスマを受けたが、その日、仲間に加わったものが三千人ほどあった。 |
| 2-42 |
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship,
in the breaking of bread and the prayers. |
そして一同はひたすら、使徒たちの教を守り、信徒の交わりをなし、共にパンをさき、祈をしていた。 |
| 2-43 |
And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were
done through the apostles. |
みんなの者におそれの念が生じ、多くの奇跡としるしとが、使徒たちによって、次々に行われた。 |
| 2-44 |
And all that believed were together, and had all things common; |
信者たちはみな一緒にいて、いっさいの物を共有にし、 |
| 2-45 |
and they sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all, according
as any man had need. |
資産や持ち物を売っては、必要に応じてみんなの者に分け与えた。 |
| 2-46 |
And day by day, continuing stedfastly with one accord in the temple, and
breaking bread at home, they took their food with gladness and singleness
of heart, |
そして日々心を一つにして、絶えず宮もうでをなし、家ではパンをさき、よろこびと、まごころとをもって、食事を共にし、 |
| 2-47 |
praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord
added to them day by day those that were saved. |
神をさんびし、すべての人に好意を持たれていた。そして主は、救われる者を日々仲間に加えて下さったのである。 |
