Now Peter and John were going up into the temple at the hour of
prayer, being the ninth hour. |
さて、ペテロとヨハネとが、午後三時の祈のときに宮に上ろうとしていると、 |

And a certain man that was lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom
they laid daily at the door of the temple which is called Beautiful, to
ask alms of them that entered into the temple; |
生れながら足のきかない男が、かかえられてきた。この男は、宮もうでに来る人々に施しをこうため、毎日、「美しの門」と呼ばれる宮の門のところに、置かれていた者である。 |

who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked to receive
an alms. |
彼は、ペテロとヨハネとが、宮にはいって行こうとしているのを見て、施しをこうた。 |
| 3-4 |
Peter, fastening his eyes upon him, with John, said, Look on us. |
ペテロとヨハネとは彼をじっと見て、「わたしたちを見なさい」と言った。 |
| 3-5 |
And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something from
them. |
彼は何かもらえるのだろうと期待して、ふたりに注目していると、 |
| 3-6 |
But Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but what I have, that give
I thee. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk. |
ペテロが言った、「金銀はわたしには無い。しかし、わたしにあるものをあげよう。ナザレ人イエス・キリストの名によって歩きなさい」。 |

And he took him by the right hand, and raised him up: and immediately his
feet and his ankle-bones received strength. |
こう言って彼の右手を取って起してやると、足と、くるぶしとが、立ちどころに強くなって、 |
| 3-8 |
And leaping up, he stood, and began to walk; and he entered with them into
the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. |
踊りあがって立ち、歩き出した。そして、歩き回ったり踊ったりして神をさんびしながら、彼らと共に宮にはいって行った。 |
| 3-9 |
And all the people saw him walking and praising God: |
民衆はみな、彼が歩き回り、また神をさんびしているのを見、 |
| 3-10 |
and they took knowledge of him, that it was he that sat for alms at the
Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement
at that which had happened unto him. |
これが宮の「美しの門」のそばにすわって、施しをこうていた者であると知り、彼の身に起ったことについて、驚き怪しんだ。 |

And as he held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in
the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering. |
彼がなおもペテロとヨハネとにつきまとっているとき、人々は皆ひどく驚いて、「ソロモンの廊」と呼ばれる柱廊にいた彼らのところに駆け集まってきた。 |

And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why
marvel ye at this man? or why fasten ye your eyes on us, as though by our
own power or godliness we had made him to walk? |
ペテロはこれを見て、人々にむかって言った、「イスラエルの人たちよ、なぜこの事を不思議に思うのか。また、わたしたちが自分の力や信心で、あの人を歩かせたかのように、なぜわたしたちを見つめているのか。 |

The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers,
hath glorified his Servant Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied before
the face of Pilate, when he had determined to release him. |
アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブの神、わたしたちの先祖の神は、その僕イエスに栄光を賜わったのであるが、あなたがたは、このイエスを引き渡し、ピラトがゆるすことに決めていたのに、それを彼の面前で拒んだ。 |
| 3-14 |
But ye denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be
granted unto you, |
あなたがたは、この聖なる正しいかたを拒んで、人殺しの男をゆるすように要求し、 |
| 3-15 |
and killed the Prince of life; whom God raised from the dead; whereof we
are witnesses. |
いのちの君を殺してしまった。しかし、神はこのイエスを死人の中から、よみがえらせた。わたしたちは、その事の証人である。 |
| 3-16 |
And by faith in his name hath his name made this man strong, whom ye behold
and know: yea, the faith which is through him hath given him this perfect
soundness in the presence of you all. |
そして、イエスの名が、それを信じる信仰のゆえに、あなたがたのいま見て知っているこの人を、強くしたのであり、イエスによる信仰が、彼をあなたがた一同の前で、このとおり完全にいやしたのである。 |
| 3-17 |
And now, brethren, I know that in ignorance ye did it, as did also your
rulers. |
さて、兄弟たちよ、あなたがたは知らずにあのような事をしたのであり、あなたがたの指導者たちとても同様であったことは |
| 3-18 |
But the things which God foreshowed by the mouth of all the prophets, that
his Christ should suffer, he thus fulfilled. |
神はあらゆる預言者の口をとおして、キリストの受難を予告しておられたが、それをこのように成就なさったのである。 |
| 3-19 |
Repent ye therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out,
that so there may come seasons of refreshing from the presence of the Lord; |
だから、自分の罪をぬぐい去っていただくために、悔い改めて本心に立ちかえりなさい。 |
| 3-20 |
and that he may send the Christ who hath been appointed for you,
even Jesus: |
それは、主のみ前から慰めの時がきて、あなたがたのためにあらかじめ定めてあったキリストなるイエスを、神がつかわして下さるためである。 |
| 3-21 |
whom the heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things,
whereof God spake by the mouth of His holy prophets that have been from
of old. |
このイエスは、神が聖なる預言者たちの口をとおして、昔から預言しておられた万物更新の時まで、天にとどめておかれねばならなかった。 |
| 3-22 |
Moses indeed said, A prophet shall the Lord God raise up unto you
from among your brethren, like unto me. To him shall ye hearken in all things
whatsoever he shall speak unto you. |
モーセは言った、『主なる神は、わたしをお立てになったように、あなたがたの兄弟の中から、ひとりの預言者をお立てになるであろう。その預言者があなたがたに語ることには、ことごとく聞きしたがいなさい。 |
| 3-23 |
And it shall be, that every soul that shall not hearken to that
prophet, shall be utterly destroyed from among the people. |
彼に聞きしたがわない者は、みな民の中から滅ぼし去られるであろう』。 |
| 3-24 |
Yea and all the prophets from Samuel and them that followed after, as many
as have spoken, they also told of these days. |
サムエルをはじめ、その後つづいて語ったほどの預言者はみな、この時のことを予告した。 |
| 3-25 |
Ye are the sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with
your fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the families
of the earth be blessed. |
あなたがたは預言者の子であり、神があなたがたの先祖たちと結ばれた契約の子である。神はアブラハムに対して、『地上の諸民族は、あなたの子孫によって祝福を受けるであろう』と仰せられた。 |
| 3-26 |
Unto you first God, having raised up his Servant, sent him to
bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities. |
神がまずあなたがたのために、その僕を立てて、おつかわしになったのは、あなたがたひとりびとりを、悪から立ちかえらせて、祝福にあずからせるためなのである」。 |
