| 19-1 |
And he entered and was passing through Jericho. |
さて、イエスはエリコにはいって、その町をお通りになった。 |
| 19-2 |
And behold, a man called by name Zacchaeus; and he was a chief publican,
and he was rich. |
ところが、そこにザアカイという名の人がいた。この人は取税人のかしらで、金持であった。 |
| 19-3 |
And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the crowd, because
he was little of stature. |
彼は、イエスがどんな人か見たいと思っていたが、背が低かったので、群衆にさえぎられて見ることができなかった。 |
| 19-4 |
And he ran on before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for
he was to pass that way. |
それでイエスを見るために、前の方に走って行って、いちじく桑の木に登った。そこを通られるところだったからである。 |
| 19-5 |
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and said unto him, Zacchaeus,
make haste, and come down; for to-day I must abide at thy house. |
イエスは、その場所にこられたとき、上を見あげて言われた、「ザアカイよ、急いで下りてきなさい。きょう、あなたの家に泊まることにしているから」。 |
| 19-6 |
And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. |
そこでザアカイは急いでおりてきて、よろこんでイエスを迎え入れた。 |
| 19-7 |
And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, He is gone in to lodge
with a man that is a sinner. |
人々はみな、これを見てつぶやき、「彼は罪人の家にはいって客となった」と言った。 |
| 19-8 |
And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of
my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wrongfully exacted aught of
any man, I restore fourfold. |
ザアカイは立って主に言った、「主よ、わたしは誓って自分の財産の半分を貧民に施します。また、もしだれかから不正な取立てをしていましたら、それを四倍にして返します」。 |
| 19-9 |
And Jesus said unto him, To-day is salvation come to this house, forasmuch
as he also is a son of Abraham. |
イエスは彼に言われた、「きょう、救がこの家にきた。この人もアブラハムの子なのだから。 |
| 19-10 |
For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost. |
人の子がきたのは、失われたものを尋ね出して救うためである」。 |
| 19-11 |
And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable,
because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was immediately to appear. |
人々がこれらの言葉を聞いているときに、イエスはなお一つの譬をお話しになった。それはエルサレムに近づいてこられたし、また人々が神の国はたちまち現れると思っていたためである。 |
| 19-12 |
He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country, to receive
for himself a kingdom, and to return. |
それで言われた、「ある身分の高い人が、王位を受けて帰ってくるために遠い所へ旅立つことになった。 |
| 19-13 |
And he called ten servants of his, and gave them ten pounds, and
said unto them, Trade ye herewith till I come. |
そこで十人の僕を呼び十ミナを渡して言った、『わたしが帰って来るまで、これで商売をしなさい』。 |
| 19-14 |
But his citizens hated him, and sent an ambassage after him, saying, We
will not that this man reign over us. |
ところが、本国の住民は彼を憎んでいたので、あとから使者をおくって、『この人が王になるのをわれわれは望んでいない』と言わせた。 |
| 19-15 |
And it came to pass, when he was come back again, having received the kingdom,
that he commanded these servants, unto whom he had given the money, to
be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by trading. |
さて、彼が王位を受けて帰ってきたとき、だれがどんなもうけをしたかを知ろうとして、金を渡しておいた僕たちを呼んでこさせた。 |
| 19-16 |
And the first came before him, saying, Lord, thy pound hath made ten pounds
more. |
最初の者が進み出て言った、『ご主人様、あなたの一ミナで十ミナをもうけました』。 |
| 19-17 |
And he said unto him, Well done, thou good servant: because thou wast found
faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. |
主人は言った、『よい僕よ、うまくやった。あなたは小さい事に忠実であったから、十の町を支配させる』。 |
| 19-18 |
And the second came, saying, Thy pound, Lord, hath made five pounds. |
次の者がきて言った、『ご主人様、あなたの一ミナで五ミナをつくりました』。 |
| 19-19 |
And he said unto him also, Be thou also over five cities. |
そこでこの者にも、『では、あなたは五つの町のかしらになれ』と言った。 |
| 19-20 |
And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I kept laid up in a napkin: |
それから、もうひとりの者がきて言った、『ご主人様、さあ、ここにあなたの一ミナがあります。わたしはそれをふくさに包んで、しまっておきました。 |
| 19-21 |
for I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that
which thou layedst not down, and reapest that which thou didst not sow. |
あなたはきびしい方で、おあずけにならなかったものを取りたて、おまきにならなかったものを刈る人なので、おそろしかったのです』。 |
| 19-22 |
He saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked
servant. Thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up that which I
laid not down, and reaping that which I did not sow; |
彼に言った、『悪い僕よ、わたしはあなたの言ったその言葉であなたをさばこう。わたしがきびしくて、あずけなかったものを取りたて、まかなかったものを刈る人間だと、知っているのか。 |
| 19-23 |
then wherefore gavest thou not my money into the bank, and I at my coming
should have required it with interest? |
では、なぜわたしの金を銀行に入れなかったのか。そうすれば、わたしが帰ってきたとき、その金を利子と一緒に引き出したであろうに』。 |
| 19-24 |
And he said unto them that stood by, Take away from him the pound,
and give it unto him that hath the ten pounds. |
そして、そばに立っていた人々に、『その一ミナを彼から取り上げて、十ミナを持っている者に与えなさい』と言った。 |
| 19-25 |
And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds. |
彼らは言った、『ご主人様、あの人は既に十ミナを持っています』。 |
| 19-26 |
I say unto you, that unto every one that hath shall be given; but from
him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away from him. |
『あなたがたに言うが、おおよそ持っている人には、なお与えられ、持っていない人からは、持っているものまでも取り上げられるであろう。 |
| 19-27 |
But these mine enemies, that would not that I should reign over them, bring
hither, and slay them before me. |
しかしわたしが王になることを好まなかったあの敵どもを、ここにひっぱってきて、わたしの前で打ち殺せ』」。 |
| 19-28 |
And when he had thus spoken, he went on before, going up to Jerusalem. |
イエスはこれらのことを言ったのち、先頭に立ち、エルサレムへ上って行かれた。 |
| 19-29 |
And it came to pass, when he drew nigh unto Bethphage and Bethany,
at the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples, |
そしてオリブという山に沿ったベテパゲとベタニヤに近づかれたとき、ふたりの弟子をつかわして言われた、 |
| 19-30 |
saying, Go your way into the village over against you; in which as ye enter ye shall find a colt tied, whereon no man ever yet
sat: loose him, and bring him. |
「向こうの村へ行きなさい。そこにはいったら、まだだれも乗ったことのないろばの子がつないであるのを見るであろう。それを解いて、引いてきなさい。 |
| 19-31 |
And if any one ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say, The Lord
hath need of him. |
もしだれかが『なぜ解くのか』と問うたら、『主がお入り用なのです』と、そう言いなさい」。 |
| 19-32 |
And they that were sent went away, and found even as he had said unto them. |
そこで、つかわされた者たちが行って見ると、果して、言われたとおりであった。 |
| 19-33 |
And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why
loose ye the colt? |
彼らが、そのろばの子を解いていると、その持ち主たちが、「なぜろばの子を解くのか」と言ったので、 |
| 19-34 |
And they said, The Lord hath need of him. |
「主がお入り用なのです」と答えた。 |
| 19-35 |
And they brought him to Jesus: and they threw their garments upon the colt,
and set Jesus thereon. |
そしてそれをイエスのところに引いてきて、その子ろばの上に自分たちの上着をかけてイエスをお乗せした。 |
| 19-36 |
And as he went, they spread their garments in the way. |
そして進んで行かれると、人々は自分たちの上着を道に敷いた。 |
| 19-37 |
And as he was now drawing nigh, even at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples
began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works
which they had seen; |
いよいよオリブ山の下り道あたりに近づかれると、大ぜいの弟子たちはみな喜んで、彼らが見たすべての力あるみわざについて、声高らかに神をさんびして言いはじめた、 |
| 19-38 |
saying, Blessed is the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory
in the highest. |
「主の御名によってきたる王に、祝福あれ。天には平和、いと高きところには栄光あれ」。 |
| 19-39 |
And some of the Pharisees from the multitude said unto him, Teacher, rebuke
thy disciples. |
ところが、群衆の中にいたあるパリサイ人たちがイエスに言った、「先生、あなたの弟子たちをおしかり下さい」。 |
| 19-40 |
And he answered and said, I tell you that, if these shall hold their peace,
the stones will cry out. |
答えて言われた、「あなたがたに言うが、もしこの人たちが黙れば、石が叫ぶであろう」。 |
| 19-41 |
And when he drew nigh, he saw the city and wept over it, |
いよいよ都の近くにきて、それが見えたとき、そのために泣いて言われた、 |
| 19-42 |
saying, If thou hadst known in this day, even thou, the things which belong
unto peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. |
「もしおまえも、この日に、平和をもたらす道を知ってさえいたら………しかし、それは今おまえの目に隠されている。 |
| 19-43 |
For the days shall come upon thee, when thine enemies shall cast
up a bank about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, |
いつかは、敵が周囲に塁を築き、おまえを取りかこんで、四方から押し迫り、 |
| 19-44 |
and shall dash thee to the ground, and thy children within thee; and they
shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not
the time of thy visitation. |
おまえとその内にいる子らとを地に打ち倒し、城内の一つの石も他の石の上に残して置かない日が来るであろう。それは、おまえが神のおとずれの時を知らないでいたからである」。 |
| 19-45 |
And he entered into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold, |
それから宮にはいり、商売人たちを追い出しはじめて、 |
| 19-46 |
saying unto them, It is written, And my house shall be a house of prayer:
but ye have made it a den of robbers. |
彼らに言われた、「『わが家は祈の家であるべきだ』と書いてあるのに、あなたがたはそれを盗賊の巣にしてしまった」。 |
| 19-47 |
And he was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the
scribes and the principal men of the people sought to destroy him: |
イエスは毎日、宮で教えておられた。祭司長、律法学者また民衆の重立った者たちはイエスを殺そうと思っていたが、 |
| 19-48 |
and they could not find what they might do; for the people all
hung upon him, listening. |
民衆がみな熱心にイエスに耳を傾けていたので、手のくだしようがなかった。 |
