And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, being of the number
of the twelve. |
そのとき、十二弟子のひとりで、イスカリオテと呼ばれていたユダに、サタンがはいった。 |
| 22-4 |
And he went away, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how
he might deliver him unto them. |
すなわち、彼は祭司長たちや宮守がしらたちのところへ行って、どうしてイエスを彼らに渡そうかと、その方法について協議した。 |
| 22-5 |
And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. |
彼らは喜んで、ユダに金を与える取決めをした。 |
| 22-6 |
And he consented, and sought opportunity to deliver him unto them in the
absence of the multitude. |
ユダはそれを承諾した。そして、群衆のいないときにイエスを引き渡そうと、機会をねらっていた。 |

And the day of unleavened bread came, on which the passover must be sacrificed. |
さて、過越の小羊をほふるべき除酵祭の日がきたので、 |
| 22-8 |
And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and make ready for us the
passover, that we may eat. |
イエスはペテロとヨハネとを使いに出して言われた、「行って、過越の食事ができるように準備をしなさい」。 |
| 22-9 |
And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we make ready? |
彼らは言った、「どこに準備をしたらよいのですか」。 |

And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there
shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house
whereinto he goeth. |
イエスは言われた、「市内にはいったら、水がめを持っている男に出会うであろう。その人がはいる家までついて行って、 |
| 22-11 |
And ye shall say unto the master of the house, The Teacher saith unto thee,
Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? |
その家の主人に言いなさい、『弟子たちと一緒に過越の食事をする座敷はどこか、と先生が言っておられます』。 |
| 22-12 |
And he will show you a large upper room furnished: there make
ready. |
すると、その主人は席の整えられた二階の広間を見せてくれるから、そこに用意をしなさい」。 |
| 22-13 |
And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready
the passover. |
弟子たちは出て行ってみると、イエスが言われたとおりであったので、過越の食事の用意をした。 |
| 22-14 |
And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the apostles with him. |
時間になったので、イエスは食卓につかれ、使徒たちも共に席についた。 |
| 22-15 |
And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover
with you before I suffer: |
イエスは彼らに言われた、「わたしは苦しみを受ける前に、あなたがたとこの過越の食事をしようと、切に望んでいた。 |
| 22-16 |
for I say unto you, I shall not eat it, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom
of God. |
あなたがたに言って置くが、神の国で過越が成就する時までは、わたしは二度と、この過越の食事をすることはない」。 |
| 22-17 |
And he received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, Take this,
and divide it among yourselves: |
そして杯を取り、感謝して言われた、「これを取って、互に分けて飲め。 |
| 22-18 |
for I say unto you, I shall not drink from henceforth of the fruit of the
vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. |
あなたがたに言っておくが、今からのち神の国が来るまでは、わたしはぶどうの実から造ったものを、いっさい飲まない」。 |
| 22-19 |
And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and gave
to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance
of me. |
またパンを取り、感謝してこれをさき、弟子たちに与えて言われた、「これは、あなたがたのために与えるわたしのからだである。わたしを記念するため、このように行いなさい」。 |

And the cup in like manner after supper, saying, This cup is the
new covenant in my blood, even that which is poured out for you. |
食事ののち、杯も同じ様にして言われた、「この杯は、あなたがたのために流すわたしの血で立てられる新しい契約である。 |
| 22-21 |
But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. |
しかし、そこに、わたしを裏切る者が、わたしと一緒に食卓に手を置いている。 |
| 22-22 |
For the Son of man indeed goeth, as it hath been determined: but woe unto
that man through whom he is betrayed! |
人の子は定められたとおりに、去って行く。しかし人の子を裏切るその人は、わざわいである」。 |
| 22-23 |
And they began to question among themselves, which of them it was that
should do this thing. |
弟子たちは、自分たちのうちだれが、そんな事をしようとしているのだろうと、互に論じはじめた。 |
| 22-24 |
And there arose also a contention among them, which of them was accounted
to be greatest. |
それから、自分たちの中でだれがいちばん偉いだろうかと言って、争論が彼らの間に、起った。 |
| 22-25 |
And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles have lordship over them;
and they that have authority over them are called Benefactors. |
そこでイエスが言われた、「異邦の王たちはその民の上に君臨し、また、権力をふるっている者たちは恩人と呼ばれる。 |
| 22-26 |
But ye shall not be so: but he that is the greater among you, let him become as the younger;
and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. |
しかし、あなたがたは、そうであってはならない。かえって、あなたがたの中でいちばん偉い人はいちばん若い者のように、指導する人は仕える者のようになるべきである。 |
| 22-27 |
For which is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not
he that sitteth at meat? but I am in the midst of you as he that serveth. |
食卓につく人と給仕する者と、どちらが偉いのか。食卓につく人の方ではないか。しかし、わたしはあなたがたの中で、給仕をする者のようにしている。 |
| 22-28 |
But ye are they that have continued with me in my temptations; |
あなたがたは、わたしの試錬のあいだ、わたしと一緒に最後まで忍んでくれた人たちである。 |
| 22-29 |
and I appoint unto you a kingdom, even as my Father appointed unto me, |
それで、わたしの父が国の支配をわたしにゆだねてくださったように、わたしもそれをあなたがたにゆだね、 |
| 22-30 |
that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; and ye shall sit on
thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. |
わたしの国で食卓について飲み食いをさせ、また位に座してイスラエルの十二の部族をさばかせるであろう。 |
| 22-31 |
Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as
wheat: |
シモン、シモン、見よ、サタンはあなたがたを麦のようにふるいにかけることを願って許された。 |

but I made supplication for thee, that thy faith fail not; and do thou,
when once thou hast turned again, establish thy brethren. |
しかし、わたしはあなたの信仰がなくならないように、あなたのために祈った。それで、あなたが立ち直ったときには、兄弟たちを力づけてやりなさい」。 |

And he said unto him, Lord, with thee I am ready to go both to prison and
to death. |
シモンが言った、「主よ、わたしは獄にでも、また死に至るまでも、あなたとご一緒に行く覚悟です」。 |

And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, until
thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me. |
するとイエスが言われた、「ペテロよ、あなたに言っておく。きょう、鶏が泣くまでに、あなたは三度わたしを知らないと言うだろう」。 |

And he said unto them, When I sent you forth without purse, and wallet,
and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing. |
そして彼らに言われた、「わたしが財布も袋もくつも持たせずにあなたがたをつかわしたとき、何かこまったことがあったか」。彼らは、「いいえ、何もありませんでした」と答えた。 |

And he said unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it,
and likewise a wallet; and he that hath none, let him sell his cloak, and
buy a sword. |
そこで言われた、「しかし今は、財布のあるものは、それを持って行け。袋も同様に持って行け。また、つるぎのない者は、自分の上着を売って、それを買うがよい。 |

For I say unto you, that this which is written must be fulfilled in me,
And he was reckoned with transgressors: for that which concerneth me hath
fulfilment. |
あなたがたに言うが、『彼は罪人のひとりに数えられた』としるしてあることは、わたしの身に成しとげられねばならない。そうだ、わたしに係わることは成就している」。 |

And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them,
It is enough. |
弟子たちが言った、「主よ、ごらんなさい、ここにつるぎが二振りございます」。イエスは言われた、「それでよい」。 |

And he came out, and went, as his custom was, unto the mount of Olives;
and the disciples also followed him. |
イエスは出て、いつものようにオリブ山に行かれると、弟子たちも従って行った。 |
| 22-40 |
And he came out, and went, as his custom was, unto the mount of Olives;
and the disciples also followed him. |
いつもの場所に着いてから、彼らに言われた、「誘惑に陥らないように祈りなさい」。 |
| 22-41 |
And he was parted from them about a stone’s cast; and he kneeled down and
prayed, |
そしてご自分は、石を投げてとどくほど離れたところへ退き、ひざまずいて、祈って言われた、 |
| 22-42 |
saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless
not my will, but thine, be done. |
「父よ、みこころならば、どうぞ、この杯をわたしから取りのけてください。しかし、わたしの思いではなく、みこころが成るようにしてください」。 |
| 22-43 |
And there appeared unto him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. |
そのとき、御使が天からあらわれてイエスを力づけた。 |
| 22-44 |
And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat
became as it were great drops of blood falling down upon the ground. |
イエスは苦しみもだえて、ますます切に祈られた。そして、その汗が血のしたたりのように地に落ちた。 |
| 22-45 |
And when he rose up from his prayer, he came unto the disciples, and found
them sleeping for sorrow, |
祈を終えて立ちあがり、弟子たちのところへ行かれると、彼らが悲しみのはて寝入っているのをごらんになって |
| 22-46 |
and said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, that ye enter not into
temptation. |
言われた、「なぜ眠っているのか。誘惑に陥らないように、起きて祈っていなさい」。 |
| 22-47 |
While he yet spake, behold, a multitude, and he that was called Judas,
one of the twelve, went before them; and he drew near unto Jesus to kiss
him. |
イエスがまだそう言っておられるうちに、そこに群衆が現れ、十二弟子のひとりでユダという者が先頭に立って、イエスに接吻しようとして近づいてきた。 |
| 22-48 |
But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss? |
そこでイエスは言われた、「ユダ、あなたは接吻をもって人の子を裏切るのか」。 |
| 22-49 |
And when they that were about him saw what would follow, they said, Lord,
shall we smite with the sword? |
イエスのそばにいた人たちは、事のなりゆきを見て、「主よ、つるぎで切りつけてやりましょうか」と言って、 |
| 22-50 |
And a certain one of them smote the servant of the high priest,
and struck off his right ear.

そのうちのひとりが、祭司長の僕に切りつけ、その右の耳を切り落した。 |
| 22-51 |
But Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye them thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. |
イエスはこれに対して言われた、「それだけでやめなさい」。そして、その僕の耳に手を触れて、おいやしになった。 |
| 22-52 |
And Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the
temple, and elders, that were come against him, Are ye come out, as against a
robber, with swords and staves? |
それから、自分にむかって来る祭司長、宮守がしら、長老たちに対して言われた、「あなたがたは、強盗にむかうように剣や棒を持って出てきたのか。 |
| 22-53 |
When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched not forth your hands
against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. |
毎日あなたがたと一緒に宮にいた時には、わたしに手をかけなかった。だが、今はあなたがたの時、また、やみの支配の時である」。 |
| 22-54 |
And they seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed afar
off. |
それから人々はイエスを捕え、ひっぱって大祭司の邸宅へつれて行った。ペテロは遠くからついて行った。 |
| 22-55 |
And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and had sat
down together, Peter sat in the midst of them. |
人々は中庭のまん中に火をたいて、一緒にすわっていたので、ペテロもその中にすわった。 |
| 22-56 |
And a certain maid seeing him as he sat in the light of the
fire, and looking stedfastly upon him, said, This man also was with him. |
すると、ある女中が、彼が火のそばにすわっているのを見、彼を見つめて、「この人もイエスと一緒にいました」と言った。 |
| 22-57 |
But he denied, saying, Woman, I know him not. |
ペテロはそれを打ち消して、「わたしはその人を知らない」と言った。 |
| 22-58 |
And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou also art
one of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not. |
しばらくして、ほかの人がペテロを見て言った、「あなたもあの仲間のひとりだ」。するとペテロは言った、「いや、それはちがう」。 |
| 22-59 |
And after the space of about one hour another confidently
affirmed, saying, Of a truth this man also was with him; for he is a Galilaean.

しばらくして、ほかの人がペテロを見て言った、「あなたもあの仲間のひとりだ」。するとペテロは言った、「いや、それはちがう」。 |
| 22-60 |
But Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while
he yet spake, the cock crew. |
ペテロは言った、「あなたの言っていることは、わたしにわからない」。すると、彼がまだ言い終らぬうちに、たちまち、鶏が鳴いた。 |
| 22-61 |
And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered
the word of the Lord, how that he said unto him, Before the cock crow this day
thou shalt deny me thrice. |
主は振りむいてペテロを見つめられた。そのときペテロは、「きょう、鶏がなく前に、三度わたしを知らないと言うであろう」と言われた主のお言葉を思い出した。 |

And he went out, and wept bitterly. |
そして外へ出て、激しく泣いた。 |
| 22-63 |
And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and beat him. |
イエスを監視していた人たちは、イエスを嘲弄し、打ちたたき、 |
| 22-64 |
And they blindfolded him, and asked him, saying, Prophesy: who is he that
struck thee? |
目かくしをして、「言いあててみよ。打ったのは、だれか」ときいたりした。 |
| 22-65 |
And many other things spake they against him, reviling him. |
そのほか、いろいろな事を言って、イエスを愚弄した。 |
| 22-66 |
And as soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people was
gathered together, both chief priests and scribes; and they led him away
into their council, saying, |
夜が明けたとき、人民の長老、祭司長たち、律法学者たちが集まり、イエスを議会に引き出して言った、 |
| 22-67 |
If thou art the Christ, tell us. But he said unto them, If I tell you,
ye will not believe: |
「あなたがキリストなら、そう言ってもらいたい」。イエスは言われた、「わたしが言っても、あなたがたは信じないだろう。 |
| 22-68 |
and if I ask you, ye will not answer. |
また、わたしがたずねても、答えないだろう。 |
| 22-69 |
But from henceforth shall the Son of man be seated at the right hand of
the power of God. |
しかし、人の子は今からのち、全能の神の右に座するであろう」。 |
| 22-70 |
And they all said, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them,
Ye say that I am. |
彼らは言った、「では、あなたは神の子なのか」。イエスは言われた、「あなたがたの言うとおりである」。 |
| 22-71 |
And they said, What further need have we of witness? for we
ourselves have heard from his own mouth. |
すると彼らは言った、「これ以上、なんの証拠がいるか。われわれは直接彼の口から聞いたのだから」。 |
