And he called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over
all demons, and to cure diseases. |
それからイエスは十二弟子を呼び集めて、彼らにすべての悪霊を制し、病気をいやす力と権威とをお授けになった。 |

And he sent them forth to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. |
また神の国を宣べ伝え、かつ病気をなおすためにつかわして |
| 9-3 |
And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither
staff, nor wallet, nor bread, nor money; neither have two coats. |
言われた、「旅のために何も携えるな。つえも袋もパンも銭も持たず、また下着も二枚は持つな。 |
| 9-4 |
And into whatsoever house ye enter, there abide, and thence depart. |
また、どこかの家にはいったら、そこに留まっておれ。そしてそこから出かけることにしなさい。 |
| 9-5 |
And as many as receive you not, when ye depart from that city,
shake off the dust from your feet for a testimony against them. |
だれもあなたがたを迎えるものがいなかったら、その町を出て行くとき、彼らに対する抗議のしるしに、足からちりを払い落しなさい」。 |
| 9-6 |
And they departed, and went throughout the villages, preaching the gospel,
and healing everywhere. |

Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done: and he was much perplexed,
because that it was said by some, that John was risen from the dead; |

and by some, that Elijah had appeared; and by others, that one of the old
prophets was risen again. |
またある人たちは、エリヤが現れたと言い、またほかの人たちは、昔の預言者のひとりが復活したのだと言っていたからである。 |
| 9-9 |
And Herod said, John I beheaded: but who is this, about whom I hear such
things? And he sought to see him. |
そこでヘロデが言った、「ヨハネはわたしがすでに首を切ったのだが、こうしてうわさされているこの人は、いったい、だれなのだろう」。そしてイエスに会ってみようと思っていた。 |
| 9-10 |
And the apostles, when they were returned, declared unto him what things
they had done. And he took them, and withdrew apart to a city called Bethsaida |
使徒たちは帰ってきて、自分たちのしたことをすべてイエスに話した。それからイエスは彼らを連れて、ベツサイダという町へひそかに退かれた。 |
| 9-11 |
But the multitudes perceiving it followed him: and he welcomed them, and
spake to them of the kingdom of God, and them that had need of healing
he cured. |
ところが群衆がそれと知って、ついてきたので、これを迎えて神の国のことを語り聞かせ、また治療を要する人たちをいやされた。 |
| 9-12 |
And the day began to wear away; and the twelve came, and said unto him,
Send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages and country
round about, and lodge, and get provisions: for we are here in a desert
place. |
それから日が傾きかけたので、十二弟子がイエスのもとにきて言った、「群衆を解散して、まわりの村々や部落へ行って宿を取り、食物を手にいれるようにさせてください。わたしたちはこんな寂しい所にきているのですから」。 |
| 9-13 |
But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more
than five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy food for all
this people. |
しかしイエスは言われた、「あなたがたの手で食物をやりなさい」。彼らは言った、「わたしたちにはパン五つと魚二ひきしかありません、この大ぜいの人のために食物を買いに行くかしなければ」。 |
| 9-14 |
For they were about five thousand men. And he said unto his disciples,
Make them sit down in companies, about fifty each. |
というのは、男が五千人ばかりもいたからである。しかしイエスは弟子たちに言われた、「人々をおおよそ五十人ずつの組にして、すわらせなさい」。 |
| 9-15 |
And they did so, and made them all sit down. |
彼らはそのとおりにして、みんなをすわらせた。 |
| 9-16 |
And he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to
heaven, he blessed them, and brake; and gave to the disciples to set before the
multitude. |
イエスは五つのパンと二ひきの魚とを手に取り、天を仰いでそれを祝福してさき、弟子たちにわたして群衆に配らせた。 |
| 9-17 |
And they ate, and were all filled: and there was taken up that which remained
over to them of broken pieces, twelve baskets. |
みんなの者は食べて満腹した。そして、その余りくずを集めたら、十二かごあった。 |
| 9-18 |
And it came to pass, as he was praying apart, the disciples were with him:
and he asked them, saying, Who do the multitudes say that I am? |
イエスがひとりで祈っておられたとき、弟子たちが近くにいたので、彼らに尋ねて言われた、「群衆はわたしをだれと言っているか」。 |
| 9-19 |
And they answering said, John the Baptist; but others say, Elijah; and others, that one of the old prophets is risen again. |
彼らは答えて言った、「バプテスマのヨハネだと、言っています。しかしほかの人たちは、エリヤだと言い、また昔の預言者のひとりが復活したのだと、言っている者もあります」。 |
| 9-20 |
And he said unto them, But who say ye that I am? And Peter answering said,
The Christ of God. |
彼らに言われた、「それでは、あなたがたはわたしをだれと言うか」。ペテロが答えて言った、「神のキリストです」。 |
| 9-21 |
But he charged them, and commanded them to tell this to no man; |
イエスは彼らを戒め、この事をだれにも言うなと命じ、そして言われた、 |
| 9-22 |
saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the
elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day
be raised up. |
「人の子は必ず多くの苦しみを受け、長老、祭司長、律法学者たちに捨てられ、また殺され、そして三日目によみがえる」。 |
| 9-23 |
And he said unto all, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself,
and take up his cross daily, and follow me. |
それから、みんなの者に言われた、「だれでもわたしについてきたいと思うなら、自分を捨て、日々自分の十字架を負うて、わたしに従ってきなさい。 |
| 9-24 |
For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; but whosoever
shall lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. |
自分の命を救おうと思う者はそれを失い、わたしのために自分の命を失う者は、それを救うであろう。 |
| 9-25 |
For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose
or forfeit his own self? |
人が全世界をもうけても、自分自身を失いまたは損したら、なんの得になろうか。 |
| 9-26 |
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him
shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in his own glory, and the
glory of the Father, and of the holy angels. |
わたしとわたしの言葉とを恥じる者に対しては、人の子もまた、自分の栄光と、父と聖なる御使との栄光のうちに現れて来るとき、その者を恥じるであろう。 |
| 9-27 |
But I tell you of a truth, There are some of them that stand here, who
shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. |
よく聞いておくがよい、神の国を見るまでは、死を味わわない者が、ここに立っている者の中にいる」。 |
| 9-28 |
And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, that he took with him Peter and John and James, and went up into the mountain to pray. |
これらのことを話された後、八日ほどたってから、イエスはペテロ、ヨハネ、ヤコブを連れて、祈るために山に登られた。 |
| 9-29 |
And as he was praying, the fashion of his countenance was altered,
and his raiment became white and dazzling. |
祈っておられる間に、み顔の様が変り、み衣がまばゆいほどに白く輝いた。 |
| 9-30 |
And behold, there talked with him two men, who were Moses and Elijah; |
すると見よ、ふたりの人がイエスと語り合っていた。それはモーセとエリヤであったが、 |
| 9-31 |
who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he was about to accomplish
at Jerusalem. |
栄光の中に現れて、イエスがエルサレムで遂げようとする最後のことについて話していたのである。 |
| 9-32 |
Now Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: but when they
were fully awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. |
ペテロとその仲間の者たちとは熟睡していたが、目をさますと、イエスの栄光の姿と、共に立っているふたりの人とを見た。 |
| 9-33 |
And it came to pass, as they were parting from him, Peter said unto Jesus,
Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles;
one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah: not knowing what he
said. |
このふたりがイエスを離れ去ろうとしたとき、ペテロは自分が何を言っているのかわからないで、イエスに言った、「先生、わたしたちがここにいるのは、すばらしいことです。それで、わたしたちは小屋を三つ建てましょう。一つはあなたのために、一つはモーセのために、一つはエリヤのために」。 |
| 9-34 |
And while he said these things, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them:
and they feared as they entered into the cloud. |
彼がこう言っている間に、雲がわき起って彼らをおおいはじめた。そしてその雲に囲まれたとき、彼らは恐れた。 |
| 9-35 |
And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my Son, my
chosen: hear ye him. |
すると雲の中から声があった、「これはわたしの子、わたしの選んだ者である。これに聞け」。 |
| 9-36 |
And when the voice came, Jesus was found alone. And they held their peace,
and told no man in those days any of the things which they had seen. |
そして声が止んだとき、イエスがひとりだけになっておられた。弟子たちは沈黙を守って、自分たちが見たことについては、そのころだれにも話さなかった。 |
| 9-37 |
And it came to pass, on the next day, when they were come down from the
mountain, a great multitude met him. |
翌日、一同が山を降りて来ると、大ぜいの群衆がイエスを出迎えた。 |
| 9-38 |
And behold, a man from the multitude cried, saying, Teacher, I beseech
thee to look upon my son; for he is mine only child: |
すると突然、ある人が群衆の中から大声をあげて言った、「先生、お願いです。わたしのむすこを見てやってください。この子はわたしのひとりむすこですが、 |
| 9-39 |
and behold, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth
him that he foameth, and it hardly departeth from him, bruising him sorely. |
霊が取りつきますと、彼は急に叫び出すのです。それから、霊は彼をひきつけさせて、あわを吹かせ、彼を弱り果てさせて、なかなか出て行かないのです。 |
| 9-40 |
And I besought thy disciples to cast it out; and they could not. |
それで、お弟子たちに、この霊を追い出してくださるように願いましたが、できませんでした」。 |
| 9-41 |
And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long
shall I be with you, and bear with you? bring hither thy son. |
イエスは答えて言われた、「ああ、なんという不信仰な、曲った時代であろう。いつまで、わたしはあなたがたと一緒におられようか、またあなたがたに我慢ができようか。あなたの子をここに連れてきなさい」。 |
| 9-42 |
And as he was yet a coming, the demon dashed him down, and tare
him grievously. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy,
and gave him back to his father. |
ところが、その子がイエスのところに来る時にも、悪霊が彼を引き倒して、引きつけさせた。イエスはこの汚れた霊をしかりつけ、その子供をいやして、父親にお渡しになった。 |
| 9-43 |
And they were all astonished at the majesty of God. But while all were
marvelling at all the things which he did, he said unto his disciples, |
人々はみな、神の偉大な力に非常に驚いた。みんなの者がイエスのしておられた数々の事を不思議に思っていると、弟子たちに言われた、 |
| 9-44 |
Let these words sink into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered
up into the hands of men. |
「あなたがたはこの言葉を耳におさめて置きなさい。人の子は人々の手に渡されようとしている」。 |
| 9-45 |
But they understood not this saying, and it was concealed from them, that
they should not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask him about this
saying. |
しかし、彼らはなんのことかわからなかった。それが彼らに隠されていて、悟ることができなかったのである。また彼らはそのことについて尋ねるのを恐れていた。 |
| 9-46 |
And there arose a reasoning among them, which of them was the greatest. |
弟子たちの間に、彼らのうちでだれがいちばん偉いだろうかということで、議論がはじまった。 |
| 9-47 |
But when Jesus saw the reasoning of their heart, he took a little child,
and set him by his side, |
イエスは彼らの心の思いを見抜き、ひとりの幼な子を取りあげて自分のそばに立たせ、彼らに言われた、 |
| 9-48 |
and said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this little child in
my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me:
for he that is least among you all, the same is great. |
「だれでもこの幼な子をわたしの名のゆえに受けいれる者は、わたしを受けいれるのである。そしてわたしを受けいれる者は、わたしをおつかわしになったかたを受けいれるのである。あなたがたみんなの中でいちばん小さい者こそ、大きいのである」。 |
| 9-49 |
And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy
name; and we forbade him, because he followeth not with us. |
するとヨハネが答えて言った、「先生、わたしたちはある人があなたの名を使って悪霊を追い出しているのを見ましたが、その人はわたしたちの仲間でないので、やめさせました」。 |
| 9-50 |
But Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is
not against you is for you. |
イエスは彼に言われた、「やめさせないがよい。あなたがたに反対しない者は、あなたがたの味方なのである」。 |
| 9-51 |
And it came to pass, when the days were well-nigh come that he should be
received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, |
さて、イエスが天に上げられる日が近づいたので、エルサレムへ行こうと決意して、その方へ顔をむけられ、 |
| 9-52 |
and sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a
village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. |
自分に先立って使者たちをおつかわしになった。そして彼らがサマリヤ人の村へはいって行き、イエスのために準備をしようとしたところ、 |
| 9-53 |
And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he
were going to Jerusalem. |
村人は、エルサレムへむかって進んで行かれるというので、イエスを歓迎しようとはしなかった。 |
| 9-54 |
And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we bid fire to come down from heaven,
and consume them? |
弟子のヤコブとヨハネとはそれを見て言った、「主よ、いかがでしょう。彼らを焼き払ってしまうように、天から火をよび求めましょうか」。 |
| 9-55 |
But he turned, and rebuked them. |
イエスは振りかえって、彼らをおしかりになった。 |
| 9-56 |
And they went to another village. |
そして一同はほかの村へ行った。 |
| 9-57 |
And as they went on the way, a certain man said unto him, I will follow
thee whithersoever thou goest. |
道を進んで行くと、ある人がイエスに言った、「あなたがおいでになる所ならどこへでも従ってまいります」。 |
| 9-58 |
And Jesus said unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of
the heaven have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. |
イエスはその人に言われた、「きつねには穴があり、空の鳥には巣がある。しかし、人の子にはまくらする所がない」。 |
| 9-59 |
And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first
to go and bury my father. |
またほかの人に、「わたしに従ってきなさい」と言われた。するとその人が言った、「まず、父を葬りに行かせてください」。 |
| 9-60 |
But he said unto him, Leave the dead to bury their own dead; but go thou
and publish abroad the kingdom of God. |
彼に言われた、「その死人を葬ることは、死人に任せておくがよい。あなたは、出て行って神の国を告げひろめなさい」。 |
| 9-61 |
And another also said, I will follow thee, Lord; but first suffer
me to bid farewell to them that are at my house. |
またほかの人が言った、「主よ、従ってまいりますが、まず家の者に別れを言いに行かせてください」。 |
| 9-62 |
But Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow,
and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. |
イエスは言われた、「手をすきにかけてから、うしろを見る者は、神の国にふさわしくないものである」。 |
