| 14-1 |
Now after two days was the feast of the passover and the unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes
sought how they might take him with subtlety, and kill him: |
さて、過越と除酵との祭の二日前になった。祭司長たちや律法学者たちは、策略をもってイエスを捕えたうえ、なんとかして殺そうと計っていた。 |
| 14-2 |
for they said, Not during the feast, lest haply there shall be a tumult
of the people. |
彼らは、「祭の間はいけない。民衆が騒ぎを起すかも知れない」と言っていた。 |
| 14-3 |
And while he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he
sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster cruse of ointment of pure
nard very costly; and she brake the cruse, and poured it over his head. |
イエスがベタニヤで、らい病人シモンの家にいて、食卓についておられたとき、ひとりの女が、非常に高価で純粋なナルドの香油が入れてある石膏のつぼを持ってきて、それをこわし、香油をイエスの頭に注ぎかけた。 |
| 14-4 |
But there were some that had indignation among themselves,
saying, To what purpose hath this waste of the ointment been made? |
すると、ある人々が憤って互に言った、「なんのために香油をこんなにむだにするのか。 |
| 14-5 |
For this ointment might have been sold for above three hundred shillings,
and given to the poor. And they murmured against her. |
この香油を三百デナリ以上にでも売って、貧しい人たちに施すことができたのに」。そして女をきびしくとがめた。 |
| 14-6 |
But Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good
work on me. |
するとイエスは言われた、「するままにさせておきなさい。なぜ女を困らせるのか。わたしによい事をしてくれたのだ。 |
| 14-7 |
For ye have the poor always with you, and whensoever ye will ye can do
them good: but me ye have not always. |
貧しい人たちはいつもあなたがたと一緒にいるから、したいときにはいつでも、よい事をしてやれる。しかし、わたしはあなたがたといつも一緒にいるわけではない。 |
| 14-8 |
She hath done what she could; she hath anointed my body beforehand
for the burying. |
この女はできる限りの事をしたのだ。すなわち、わたしのからだに油を注いで、あらかじめ葬りの用意をしてくれたのである。 |
| 14-9 |
And verily I say unto you, Wheresoever the gospel shall be preached throughout
the whole world, that also which this woman hath done shall be spoken of
for a memorial of her. |
よく聞きなさい。全世界のどこででも、福音が宣べ伝えられる所では、この女のした事も記念として語られるであろう」。 |
| 14-10 |
And Judas Iscariot, he that was one of the twelve, went away unto the chief
priests, that he might deliver him unto them. |
ときに、十二弟子のひとりイスカリオテのユダは、イエスを祭司長たちに引きわたそうとして、彼らの所へ行った。 |
| 14-11 |
And they, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him
money. And he sought how he might conveniently deliver him unto them. |
彼らはこれを聞いて喜び、金を与えることを約束した。そこでユダは、どうかしてイエスを引きわたそうと、機会をねらっていた。 |
| 14-12 |
And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the passover,
his disciples say unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and make ready that
thou mayest eat the passover? |
除酵祭の第一日、すなわち過越の小羊をほふる日に、弟子たちがイエスに尋ねた、「わたしたちは、過越の食事をなさる用意を、どこへ行ってしたらよいでしょうか」。 |
| 14-13 |
And he sendeth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go into the city,
and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him; |
そこで、イエスはふたりの弟子を使いに出して言われた、「市内に行くと、水がめを持っている男に出会うであろう。その人について行きなさい。 |
| 14-14 |
and wheresoever he shall enter in, say to the master of the house,
The Teacher saith, Where is my guest-chamber, where I shall eat the passover
with my disciples? |
そして、その人がはいって行く家の主人に言いなさい、『弟子たちと一緒に過越の食事をする座敷はどこか、と先生が言っておられます』。 |
| 14-15 |
And he will himself show you a large upper room furnished
and ready: and there make ready for us. |
するとその主人は、席を整えて用意された二階の広間を見せてくれるから、そこにわたしたちのために用意をしなさい」。 |
| 14-16 |
And the disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had
said unto them: and they made ready the passover. |
弟子たちは出かけて市内に行って見ると、イエスが言われたとおりであったので、過越の食事の用意をした。 |
| 14-17 |
And when it was evening he cometh with the twelve. |
夕方になって、イエスは十二弟子と一緒にそこに行かれた。 |
| 14-18 |
And as they sat and were eating, Jesus said, Verily I say unto
you, One of you shall betray me, even he that eateth with me. |
そして、一同が席について食事をしているとき言われた、「特にあなたがたに言っておくが、あなたがたの中のひとりで、わたしと一緒に食事をしている者が、わたしを裏切ろうとしている」。 |
| 14-19 |
And as they sat and were eating, Jesus said, Verily I say unto
you, One of you shall betray me, even he that eateth with me. |
弟子たちは心配して、ひとりびとり「まさか、わたしではないでしょう」と言い出した。 |
| 14-20 |
And he said unto them, It is one of the twelve, he that dippeth with me in the dish. |
イエスは言われた、「十二人の中のひとりで、わたしと一緒に同じ鉢にパンをひたしている者が、それである。 |
| 14-21 |
For the Son of man goeth, even as it is written of him: but woe unto that
man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man
if he had not been born. |
たしかに人の子は、自分について書いてあるとおりに去って行く。しかし、人の子を裏切るその人は、わざわいである。その人は生れなかった方が、彼のためによかったであろう」。 |
| 14-22 |
And as they were eating, he took bread, and when he had blessed, he brake
it, and gave to them, and said, Take ye: this is my body. |
一同が食事をしているとき、イエスはパンを取り、祝福してこれをさき、弟子たちに与えて言われた、「取れ、これはわたしのからだである」。 |
| 14-23 |
And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave to them: and they
all drank of it. |
また杯を取り、感謝して彼らに与えられると、一同はその杯から飲んだ。 |
| 14-24 |
And he said unto them, This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured
out for many. |
イエスはまた言われた、「これは、多くの人のために流すわたしの契約の血である。 |
| 14-25 |
Verily I say unto you, I shall no more drink of the fruit of the vine,
until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God. |
あなたがたによく言っておく。神の国で新しく飲むその日までは、わたしは決して二度と、ぶどうの実から造ったものを飲むことをしない」。 |
| 14-26 |
And when they had sung a hymn, they went out unto the mount of Olives. |
彼らは、さんびを歌った後、オリブ山へ出かけて行った。 |
| 14-27 |
And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended: for it is written,
I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered abroad. |
そのとき、イエスは弟子たちに言われた、「あなたがたは皆、わたしにつまずくであろう。『わたしは羊飼を打つ。そして、羊は散らされるであろう』と書いてあるからである。 |
| 14-28 |
Howbeit, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee. |
しかしわたしは、よみがえってから、あなたがたより先にガリラヤへ行くであろう」。 |
| 14-29 |
But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will
not I.

するとペテロはイエスに言った、「たとい、みんなの者がつまずいても、わたしはつまずきません」。 |
| 14-30 |
And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, that thou
to-day, even this night, before the cock crow twice, shalt deny me
thrice.
|
イエスは言われた、「あなたによく言っておく。きょう、今夜、にわとりが二度鳴く前に、そう言うあなたが、三度わたしを知らないと言うだろう」。 |
| 14-31 |
But he spake exceedingly vehemently, If I must die with thee, I
will not deny thee. And in like manner also said they all. |
ペテロは力をこめて言った、「たといあなたと一緒に死なねばならなくなっても、あなたを知らないなどとは、決して申しません」。みんなの者もまた、同じようなことを言った。 |
| 14-32 |
And they come unto a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith unto
his disciples, Sit ye here, while I pray. |
さて、一同はゲツセマネという所にきた。そしてイエスは弟子たちに言われた、「わたしが祈っている間、ここにすわっていなさい」。 |
| 14-33 |
And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be
greatly amazed, and sore troubled. |
そしてペテロ、ヤコブ、ヨハネを一緒に連れて行かれたが、恐れおののき、また悩みはじめて、彼らに言われた、 |
| 14-34 |
And he saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto
death: abide ye here, and watch. |
「わたしは悲しみのあまり死ぬほどである。ここに待っていて、目をさましていなさい」。 |
| 14-35 |
And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that,
if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him. |
そして少し進んで行き、地にひれ伏し、もしできることなら、この時を過ぎ去らせてくださるようにと祈りつづけ、そして言われた、 |
| 14-36 |
And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; remove this
cup from me: howbeit not what I will, but what thou wilt. |
「アバ、父よ、あなたには、できないことはありません。どうか、この杯をわたしから取りのけてください。しかし、わたしの思いではなく、みこころのままになさってください」。 |
| 14-37 |
And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon,
sleepest thou? couldest thou not watch one hour? |
それから、きてごらんになると、弟子たちが眠っていたので、ペテロに言われた、「シモンよ、眠っているのか、ひと時も目をさましていることができなかったのか。 |
| 14-38 |
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is
willing, but the flesh is weak. |
誘惑に陥らないように、目をさまして祈っていなさい。心は熱しているが、肉体が弱いのである」。 |
| 14-39 |
And again he went away, and prayed, saying the same words. |
また離れて行って同じ言葉で祈られた。 |
| 14-40 |
And again he came, and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy;
and they knew not what to answer him. |
またきてごらんになると、彼らはまだ眠っていた。その目が重くなっていたのである。そして、彼らはどうお答えしてよいか、わからなかった。 |
| 14-41 |
And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now,
and take your rest: it is enough; the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is
betrayed into the hands of sinners. |
三度目にきて言われた、「まだ眠っているのか、休んでいるのか。もうそれでよかろう。時がきた。見よ、人の子は罪人らの手に渡されるのだ。 |
| 14-42 |
Arise, let us be going: behold, he that betrayeth me is at hand. |
立て、さあ行こう。見よ。わたしを裏切る者が近づいてきた」。 |
| 14-43 |
And straightway, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and
with him a multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and
the scribes and the elders. |
そしてすぐ、イエスがまだ話しておられるうちに、十二弟子のひとりのユダが進みよってきた。また祭司長、律法学者、長老たちから送られた群衆も、剣と棒とを持って彼についてきた。 |
| 14-44 |
Now he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall
kiss, that is he; take him, and lead him away safely. |
イエスを裏切る者は、あらかじめ彼らに合図をしておいた、「わたしの接吻する者が、その人だ。その人をつかまえて、まちがいなく引っぱって行け」。 |
| 14-45 |
And when he was come, straightway he came to him, and saith,
Rabbi; and kissed him. |
彼は来るとすぐ、イエスに近寄り、「先生」と言って接吻した。 |
| 14-46 |
And they laid hands on him, and took him. |
人々はイエスに手をかけてつかまえた。 |
| 14-47 |
But a certain one of them that stood by drew his sword, and smote the servant
of the high priest, and struck off his ear. |
すると、イエスのそばに立っていた者のひとりが、剣を抜いて大祭司の僕に切りかかり、その片耳を切り落した。 |
| 14-48 |
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a robber,
with swords and staves to seize me? |
イエスは彼らにむかって言われた、「あなたがたは強盗にむかうように、剣や棒を持ってわたしを捕えにきたのか。 |
| 14-49 |
I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not:
but this is done that the scriptures might be fulfilled. |
わたしは毎日あなたがたと一緒に宮にいて教えていたのに、わたしをつかまえはしなかった。しかし聖書の言葉は成就されねばならない」。 |
| 14-50 |
And they all left him, and fled. |
弟子たちは皆イエスを見捨てて逃げ去った。 |
| 14-51 |
And a certain young man followed with him, having a linen cloth
cast about him, over his naked body: and they lay hold on him; |
ときに、ある若者が身に亜麻布をまとって、イエスのあとについて行ったが、人々が彼をつかまえようとしたので、 |
| 14-52 |
but he left the linen cloth, and fled naked. |
その亜麻布を捨てて、裸で逃げて行った。 |
| 14-53 |
And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and there come together with
him all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes. |
それから、イエスを大祭司のところに連れて行くと、祭司長、長老、律法学者たちがみな集まってきた。 |
| 14-54 |
And Peter had followed him afar off, even within, into the court
of the high priest; and he was sitting with the officers, and warming himself in
the light of the fire. |
ペテロは遠くからイエスについて行って、大祭司の中庭まではいり込み、その下役どもにまじってすわり、火にあたっていた。 |
| 14-55 |
Now the chief priests and the whole council sought witness against Jesus
to put him to death; and found it not. |
さて、祭司長たちと全議会とは、イエスを死刑にするために、イエスに不利な証拠を見つけようとしたが、得られなかった。 |
| 14-56 |
For many bare false witness against him, and their witness agreed not together. |
多くの者がイエスに対して偽証を立てたが、その証言が合わなかったからである。 |
| 14-57 |
And there stood up certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, |
ついに、ある人々が立ちあがり、イエスに対して偽証を立てて言った、 |
| 14-58 |
We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and
in three days I will build another made without hands. |
「わたしたちはこの人が『わたしは手で造ったこの神殿を打ちこわし、三日の後に手で造られない別の神殿を建てるのだ』と言うのを聞きました」。 |
| 14-59 |
And not even so did their witness agree together. |
しかし、このような証言も互に合わなかった。 |
| 14-60 |
And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest
thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? |
そこで大祭司が立ちあがって、まん中に進み、イエスに聞きただして言った、「何も答えないのか。これらの人々があなたに対して不利な証言を申し立てているが、どうなのか」。 |
| 14-61 |
But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked
him, and saith unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? |
しかし、イエスは黙っていて、何もお答えにならなかった。大祭司は再び聞きただして言った、「あなたは、ほむべき者の子、キリストであるか」。 |
| 14-62 |
And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right
hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven. |
イエスは言われた、「わたしがそれである。あなたがたは人の子が力ある者の右に座し、天の雲に乗って来るのを見るであろう」。 |
| 14-63 |
And the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What further need
have we of witnesses? |
すると、大祭司はその衣を引き裂いて言った、「どうして、これ以上、証人の必要があろう。 |
| 14-64 |
Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him
to be worthy of death. |
あなたがたはこのけがし言を聞いた。あなたがたの意見はどうか」。すると、彼らは皆、イエスを死に当るものと断定した。 |
| 14-65 |
And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him,
and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the officers received him with blows
of their hands. |
そして、ある者はイエスにつばきをかけ、目隠しをし、こぶしでたたいて、「言いあててみよ」と言いはじめた。また下役どもはイエスを引きとって、手のひらでたたいた。 |
| 14-66 |
And as Peter was beneath in the court, there cometh one of the
maids of the high priest; |
ペテロは下で中庭にいたが、大祭司の女中のひとりがきて、 |
| 14-67 |
and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and saith,
Thou also wast with the Nazarene, even Jesus. |
ペテロが火にあたっているのを見ると、彼を見つめて、「あなたもあのナザレ人イエスと一緒だった」と言った。 |
| 14-68 |
But he denied, saying, I neither know, nor understand what thou sayest:
and he went out into the porch; and the cock crew. |
するとペテロはそれを打ち消して、「わたしは知らない。あなたの言うことがなんの事か、わからない」と言って、庭口の方に出て行った。 |
| 14-69 |
And the maid saw him, and began again to say to them that stood
by, This is one of them. |
ところが、先の女中が彼を見て、そばに立っていた人々に、またもや「この人はあの仲間のひとりです」と言いだした。 |
| 14-70 |
But he again denied it. And after a little while again they that
stood by said to Peter, of a truth thou art one of them; for thou art a Galilaean. |
ペテロは再びそれを打ち消した。しばらくして、そばに立っていた人たちがまたペテロに言った、「確かにあなたは彼らの仲間だ。あなたもガリラヤ人だから」。 |
| 14-71 |
But he began to curse, and to swear, I know not this man of whom ye speak. |
しかし、彼は、「あなたがたの話しているその人のことは何も知らない」と言い張って、激しく誓いはじめた。 |
| 14-72 |
And straightway the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to
mind the word, how that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou
shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept. |
するとすぐ、にわとりが二度目に鳴いた。ペテロは、「にわとりが二度鳴く前に、三度わたしを知らないと言うであろう」と言われたイエスの言葉を思い出し、そして思いかえして泣きつづけた。 |
