And when he entered again into Capernaum after some days, it was noised
that he was in the house. |
幾日かたって、イエスがまたカペナウムにお帰りになったとき、家におられるといううわさが立ったので、 |

And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room
for them, no, not even about the door: and he spake the word unto them. |
多くの人々が集まってきて、もはや戸口のあたりまでも、すきまが無いほどになった。そして、イエスは御言を彼らに語っておられた。 |
| 2-3 |
And they come, bringing unto him a man sick of the palsy, borne of four. |
すると、人々がひとりの中風の者を四人の人に運ばせて、イエスのところに連れてきた。 |
| 2-4 |
And when they could not come nigh unto him for the crowd, they uncovered
the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the
bed whereon the sick of the palsy lay. |
ところが、群衆のために近寄ることができないので、イエスのおられるあたりの屋根をはぎ、穴をあけて、中風の者を寝かせたまま、床をつりおろした。 |

And Jesus seeing their faith saith unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy
sins are forgiven. |
イエスは彼らの信仰を見て、中風の者に、「子よ、あなたの罪はゆるされた」と言われた。 |
| 2-6 |
But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their
hearts, |
ところが、そこに幾人かの律法学者がすわっていて、心の中で論じた、 |
| 2-7 |
Why doth this man thus speak? he blasphemeth: who can forgive sins
but one, even God? |
「この人は、なぜあんなことを言うのか。それは神をけがすことだ。神ひとりのほかに、だれが罪をゆるすことができるか」。 |

And straightway Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they so
reasoned within themselves, saith unto them, Why reason ye these things in your
hearts?

イエスは、彼らが内心このように論じているのを、自分の心ですぐ見ぬいて、「なぜ、あなたがたは心の中でそんなことを論じているのか。 |

Which is easier, to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins are forgiven;
or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? |
中風の者に、あなたの罪はゆるされた、と言うのと、起きよ、床を取りあげて歩け、と言うのと、どちらがたやすいか。 |

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth
to forgive sins (he saith to the sick of the palsy),

しかし、人の子は地上で罪をゆるす権威をもっていることが、あなたがたにわかるために」と彼らに言い、中風の者にむかって、 |
| 2-11 |
I say unto thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thy house. |
「あなたに命じる。起きよ、床を取りあげて家に帰れ」と言われた。 |
| 2-12 |
And he arose, and straightway took up the bed, and went forth before them
all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We
never saw it on this fashion. |
すると彼は起きあがり、すぐに床を取りあげて、みんなの前を出て行ったので、一同は大いに驚き、神をあがめて、「こんな事は、まだ一度も見たことがない」と言った。 |

And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted
unto him, and he taught them. |
イエスはまた海べに出て行かれると、多くの人々がみもとに集まってきたので、彼らを教えられた。 |
| 2-14 |
And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the place of toll, and he saith unto him, Follow
me. And he arose and followed him. |
また途中で、アルパヨの子レビが収税所にすわっているのをごらんになって、「わたしに従ってきなさい」と言われた。すると彼は立ちあがって、イエスに従った。 |

And it came to pass, that he was sitting at meat in his house, and
many publicans and sinners sat down with Jesus and his disciples: for there were
many, and they followed him. |
それから彼の家で、食事の席についておられたときのことである。多くの取税人や罪人たちも、イエスや弟子たちと共にその席に着いていた。こんな人たちが大ぜいいて、イエスに従ってきたのである。 |

And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating
with the sinners and publicans, said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? |
パリサイ派の律法学者たちは、イエスが罪人や取税人たちと食事を共にしておられるのを見て、弟子たちに言った、「なぜ、彼は取税人や罪人などと食事を共にするのか」。 |

And when Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no
need of a physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous,
but sinners. |
イエスはこれを聞いて言われた、「丈夫な人には医者はいらない。いるのは病人である。わたしがきたのは、義人を招くためではなく、罪人を招くためである」。 |

And John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting: and they come and
say unto him, Why do John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees
fast, but thy disciples fast not? |
ヨハネの弟子とパリサイ人とは、断食をしていた。そこで人々がきて、イエスに言った、「ヨハネの弟子たちとパリサイ人の弟子たちとが断食をしているのに、あなたの弟子たちは、なぜ断食をしないのですか」。 |
| 2-19 |
And Jesus said unto them, Can the sons of the bridechamber fast, while
the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them,
they cannot fast. |
するとイエスは言われた、「婚礼の客は、花婿が一緒にいるのに、断食ができるであろうか。花婿と一緒にいる間は、断食はできない。 |
| 2-20 |
But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them,
and then will they fast in that day. |
しかし、花婿が奪い去られる日が来る。その日には断食をするであろう。 |
| 2-21 |
No man seweth a piece of undressed cloth on an old garment: else
that which should fill it up taketh from it, the new from the old, and a worse
rent is made. |
だれも、真新しい布ぎれを、古い着物に縫いつけはしない。もしそうすれば、新しいつぎは古い着物を引き破り、そして、破れがもっとひどくなる。 |
| 2-22 |
And no man putteth new wine into old wineskins; else the wine will
burst the skins, and the wine perisheth, and the skins: but they put new wine into fresh wine-skins. |
まただれも、新しいぶどう酒を古い皮袋に入れはしない。もしそうすれば、ぶどう酒は皮袋をはり裂き、そして、ぶどう酒も皮袋もむだになってしまう。〔だから、新しいぶどう酒は新しい皮袋に入れるべきである〕」。 |

And it came to pass, that he was going on the sabbath day through the grainfields;
and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears. |
ある安息日に、イエスは麦畑の中をとおって行かれた。そのとき弟子たちが、歩きながら穂をつみはじめた。 |
| 2-24 |
And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day
that which is not lawful? |
すると、パリサイ人たちがイエスに言った、「いったい、彼らはなぜ、安息日にしてはならぬことをするのですか」。 |
| 2-25 |
And he said unto them, Did ye never read what David did, when he had need,
and was hungry, he, and they that were with him? |
そこで彼らに言われた、「あなたがたは、ダビデとその供の者たちとが食物がなくて飢えたとき、ダビデが何をしたか、また読んだことがないのか。 |
| 2-26 |
How he entered into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest, and
ate the showbread, which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests,
and gave also to them that were with him? |
すなわち、大祭司アビアタルの時、神の家にはいって、祭司たちのほか食べてはならぬ供えのパンを、自分も食べ、また供の者たちにも与えたではないか」。 |

And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the
sabbath: |
また彼らに言われた、「安息日は人のためにあるもので、人が安息日のためにあるのではない。 |
| 2-28 |
so that the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath. |
それだから、人の子は、安息日にもまた主なのである」。 |
