| 5-1 |
And they came to the other side of the sea, into the country of
the Gerasenes. |
こうして彼らは海の向こう岸、ゲラサ人の地に着いた。 |

And when he was come out of the boat, straightway there met him out of
the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, |
それから、イエスが舟からあがられるとすぐに、けがれた霊につかれた人が墓場から出てきて、イエスに出会った。 |
| 5-3 |
who had his dwelling in the tombs: and no man could any more bind him,
no, not with a chain; |
この人は墓場をすみかとしており、もはやだれも、鎖でさえも彼をつなぎとめて置けなかった。 |
| 5-4 |
because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains
had been rent asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: and no
man had strength to tame him. |
彼はたびたび足かせや鎖でつながれたが、鎖を引きちぎり、足かせを砕くので、だれも彼を押えつけることができなかったからである。 |

And always, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he
was crying out, and cutting himself with stones. |
そして、夜昼たえまなく墓場や山で叫びつづけて、石で自分のからだを傷つけていた。 |
| 5-6 |
And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshipped him; |
ところが、この人がイエスを遠くから見て、走り寄って拝し、 |
| 5-7 |
and crying out with a loud voice, he saith, What have I to do with thee,
Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, torment me
not. |
大声で叫んで言った、「いと高き神の子イエスよ、あなたはわたしとなんの係わりがあるのです。神に誓ってお願いします。どうぞ、わたしを苦しめないでください」。 |

For he said unto him, Come forth, thou unclean spirit, out of the man. |
それは、イエスが、「けがれた霊よ、この人から出て行け」と言われたからである。 |
| 5-9 |
And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith unto him, My name is Legion;
for we are many. |
また彼に、「なんという名前か」と尋ねられると、「レギオンと言います。大ぜいなのですから」と答えた。 |
| 5-10 |
And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. |
そして、自分たちをこの土地から追い出さないようにと、しきりに願いつづけた。 |
| 5-11 |
Now there was there on the mountain side a great herd of swine feeding. |
さて、そこの山の中腹に、豚の大群が飼ってあった。 |

Now there was there on the mountain side a great herd of swine feeding. |
霊はイエスに願って言った、「わたしどもを、豚にはいらせてください。その中へ送ってください」。 |
| 5-13 |
And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and
entered into the swine: and the herd rushed down the steep into the sea, in
number about two thousand; and they were drowned in the sea. |
イエスがお許しになったので、けがれた霊どもは出て行って、豚の中へはいり込んだ。すると、その群れは二千匹ばかりであったが、がけから海へなだれを打って駆け下り、海の中でおぼれ死んでしまった。 |

And they that fed them fled, and told it in the city, and in the
country. And they came to see what it was that had come to pass. |
豚を飼う者たちが逃げ出して、町や村にふれまわったので、人々は何事が起ったのかと見にきた。 |
| 5-15 |
And they come to Jesus, and behold him that was possessed with
demons sitting, clothed and in his right mind, even him that had the legion: and they were afraid. |
そして、イエスのところにきて、悪霊につかれた人が着物を着て、正気になってすわっており、それがレギオンを宿していた者であるのを見て、恐れた。 |

And they that saw it declared unto them how it befell him that was possessed
with demons, and concerning the swine. |
また、それを見た人たちは、悪霊につかれた人の身に起った事と豚のこととを、彼らに話して聞かせた。 |
| 5-17 |
And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders. |
そこで、人々はイエスに、この地方から出て行っていただきたいと、頼みはじめた。 |
| 5-18 |
And as he was entering into the boat, he that had been possessed with demons
besought him that he might be with him. |
イエスが舟に乗ろうとされると、悪霊につかれていた人がお供をしたいと願い出た。 |
| 5-19 |
And he suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go to thy house unto
thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and
how he had mercy on thee. |
しかし、イエスはお許しにならないで、彼に言われた、「あなたの家族のもとに帰って、主がどんなに大きなことをしてくださったか、またどんなにあわれんでくださったか、それを知らせなさい」。 |

And he went his way, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things
Jesus had done for him: and all men marvelled. |
そこで、彼は立ち去り、そして自分にイエスがしてくださったことを、ことごとくデカポリスの地方に言いひろめ出したので、人々はみな驚き怪しんだ。 |

And when Jesus had crossed over again in the boat unto the other side,
a great multitude was gathered unto him; and he was by the sea. |
イエスがまた舟で向こう岸へ渡られると、大ぜいの群衆がみもとに集まってきた。イエスは海べにおられた。 |
| 5-22 |
And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and
seeing him, he falleth at his feet, |
そこへ、会堂司のひとりであるヤイロという者がきて、イエスを見かけるとその足もとにひれ伏し、 |
| 5-23 |
and beseecheth him much, saying, My little daughter is at the
point of death: I pray thee, that thou come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be made whole,
and live. |
そこへ、会堂司のひとりであるヤイロという者がきて、イエスを見かけるとその足もとにひれ伏し、 |
| 5-24 |
And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and they
thronged him. |
そこで、イエスは彼と一緒に出かけられた。大ぜいの群衆もイエスに押し迫りながら、ついて行った。 |
| 5-25 |
And a woman, who had an issue of blood twelve years, |
多くの医者にかかって、さんざん苦しめられ、その持ち物をみな費してしまったが、なんのかいもないばかりか、かえってますます悪くなる一方であった。 |
| 5-26 |
and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that
she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, |
この女がイエスのことを聞いて、群衆の中にまぎれ込み、うしろから、み衣にさわった。 |
| 5-27 |
having heard the things concerning Jesus, came in the crowd
behind, and touched his garment. |
それは、せめて、み衣にでもさわれば、なおしていただけるだろうと、思っていたからである。 |
| 5-28 |
For she said, If I touch but his garments, I shall be made whole. |
すると、血の元がすぐにかわき、女は病気がなおったことを、その身に感じた。 |
| 5-29 |
And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she
felt in her body that she was healed of her plague. |
イエスはすぐ、自分の内から力が出て行ったことに気づかれて、群衆の中で振り向き、「わたしの着物にさわったのはだれか」と言われた。 |
| 5-30 |
And straightway Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power
proceeding from him had gone forth, turned him about in the crowd, and said, Who
touched my garments? |
そこで弟子たちが言った、「ごらんのとおり、群衆があなたに押し迫っていますのに、だれがさわったかと、おっしゃるのですか」。 |
| 5-31 |
And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee,
and sayest thou, Who touched me? |
しかし、イエスはさわった者を見つけようとして、見まわしておられた。 |
| 5-32 |
And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. |
その女は自分の身に起ったことを知って、恐れおののきながら進み出て、みまえにひれ伏して、すべてありのままを申し上げた。 |
| 5-33 |
But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her,
came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. |
イエスはその女に言われた、「娘よ、あなたの信仰があなたを救ったのです。安心して行きなさい。すっかりなおって、達者でいなさい」。 |
| 5-34 |
And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go
in peace, and be whole of thy plague. |
イエスが、まだ話しておられるうちに、会堂司の家から人々がきて言った、「あなたの娘はなくなりました。このうえ、先生を煩わすには及びますまい」。 |
| 5-35 |
While he yet spake, they come from the ruler of the synagogue’s
house saying, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Teacher any further? |
イエスが、まだ話しておられるうちに、会堂司の家から人々がきて言った、「あなたの娘はなくなりました。このうえ、先生を煩わすには及びますまい」。 |
| 5-36 |
But Jesus, not heeding the word spoken, saith unto the ruler of
the synagogue, Fear not, only believe. |
イエスはその話している言葉を聞き流して、会堂司に言われた、「恐れることはない。ただ信じなさい」。 |
| 5-37 |
And he suffered no man to follow with him, save Peter, and James, and John
the brother of James |
そしてペテロ、ヤコブ、ヤコブの兄弟ヨハネのほかは、ついて来ることを、だれにもお許しにならなかった。 |
| 5-38 |
And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he
beholdeth a tumult, and many weeping and wailing greatly. |
彼らが会堂司の家に着くと、イエスは人々が大声で泣いたり、叫んだりして、騒いでいるのをごらんになり、 |
| 5-39 |
And when he was entered in, he saith unto them, Why make ye a tumult, and
weep? the child is not dead, but sleepeth. |
内にはいって、彼らに言われた、「なぜ泣き騒いでいるのか。子供は死んだのではない。眠っているだけである」。 |
| 5-40 |
And they laughed him to scorn. But he, having put them all forth, taketh
the father of the child and her mother and them that were with him, and
goeth in where the child was. |
人々はイエスをあざ笑った。しかし、イエスはみんなの者を外に出し、子供の父母と供の者たちだけを連れて、子供のいる所にはいって行かれた。 |

And taking the child by the hand, he saith unto her, Talitha cumi;
which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, Arise. |
そして子供の手を取って、「タリタ、クミ」と言われた。それは、「少女よ、さあ、起きなさい」という意味である。 |
| 5-42 |
And straightway the damsel rose up, and walked; for she was twelve years
old. And they were amazed straightway with a great amazement. |
すると、少女はすぐに起き上がって、歩き出した。十二歳にもなっていたからである。彼らはたちまち非常な驚きに打たれた。 |
| 5-43 |
And he charged them much that no man should know this: and he
commanded that something should be given her to eat. |
イエスは、だれにもこの事を知らすなと、きびしく彼らに命じ、また、少女に食物を与えるようにと言われた。 |
