| 8-1 |
In those days, when there was again a great multitude, and they had nothing
to eat, he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, |
そのころ、また大ぜいの群衆が集まっていたが、何も食べるものがなかったので、イエスは弟子たちを呼び寄せて言われた、 |
| 8-2 |
I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me
now three days, and have nothing to eat: |
「この群衆がかわいそうである。もう三日間もわたしと一緒にいるのに、何も食べるものがない。 |
| 8-3 |
and if I send them away fasting to their home, they will faint on the way;
and some of them are come from far. |
もし、彼らを空腹のまま家に帰らせるなら、途中で弱り切ってしまうであろう。それに、なかには遠くからきている者もある」。 |
| 8-4 |
And his disciples answered him, Whence shall one be able to fill these
men with bread here in a desert place? |
弟子たちは答えた、「こんな荒野で、どこからパンを手に入れて、これらの人々にじゅうぶん食べさせることができましょうか」。 |
| 8-5 |
And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven. |
イエスが弟子たちに、「パンはいくつあるか」と尋ねられると、「七つあります」と答えた。 |
| 8-6 |
And he commandeth the multitude to sit down on the ground: and he took
the seven loaves, and having given thanks, he brake, and gave to his disciples,
to set before them; and they set them before the multitude. |
そこでイエスは群衆に地にすわるように命じられた。そして七つのパンを取り、感謝してこれをさき、人々に配るように弟子たちに渡されると、弟子たちはそれを群衆に配った。 |

And they had a few small fishes: and having blessed them, he commanded
to set these also before them. |
また小さい魚が少しばかりあったので、祝福して、それをも人々に配るようにと言われた。 |
| 8-8 |
And they ate, and were filled: and they took up, of broken pieces that
remained over, seven baskets. |
彼らは食べて満腹した。そして残ったパンくずを集めると、七かごになった。 |
| 8-9 |
And they were about four
thousand: and he sent them away. |
人々の数はおよそ四千人であった。それからイエスは彼らを解散させ、 |
| 8-10 |
And straightway he entered into the boat with his disciples, and came into
the parts of Dalmanutha. |
すぐ弟子たちと共に舟に乗って、ダルマヌタの地方へ行かれた。 |
| 8-11 |
And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of
him a sign from heaven, trying him. |
パリサイ人たちが出てきて、イエスを試みようとして議論をしかけ、天からのしるしを求めた。 |
| 8-12 |
And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation
seek a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this
generation. |
イエスは、心の中で深く嘆息して言われた、「なぜ、今の時代はしるしを求めるのだろう。よく言い聞かせておくが、しるしは今の時代には決して与えられない」。 |

And he left them, and again entering into the boat departed to the other side. |
そして、イエスは彼らをあとに残し、また舟に乗って向こう岸へ行かれた。 |
| 8-14 |
And they forgot to take bread; and they had not in the boat with them more
than one loaf. |
弟子たちはパンを持って来るのを忘れていたので、舟の中にはパン一つしか持ち合わせがなかった。 |
| 8-15 |
And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of
the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod. |
そのとき、イエスは彼らを戒めて、「パリサイ人のパン種とヘロデのパン種とを、よくよく警戒せよ」と言われた。 |
| 8-16 |
And they reasoned one with another, saying, We have no bread. |
弟子たちは、これを自分たちがパンを持っていないためであろうと、互に論じ合った。 |
| 8-17 |
And Jesus perceiving it saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye
have no bread? do ye not yet perceive, neither understand? have ye your heart
hardened? |
イエスはそれと知って、彼らに言われた、「なぜ、パンがないからだと論じ合っているのか。まだわからないのか、悟らないのか。あなたがたの心は鈍くなっているのか。 |

Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember? |
目があっても見えないのか。耳があっても聞えないのか。まだ思い出さないのか。 |
| 8-19 |
When I brake the five loaves among the five thousand, how many baskets
full of broken pieces took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve. |
五つのパンをさいて五千人に分けたとき、拾い集めたパンくずは、幾つのかごになったか」。弟子たちは答えた、「十二かごです」。 |
| 8-20 |
And when the seven among the four thousand, how many basketfuls of
broken pieces took ye up? And they say unto him, Seven. |
「七つのパンを四千人に分けたときには、パンくずを幾つのかごに拾い集めたか」。「七かごです」と答えた。 |
| 8-21 |
And he said unto them, Do ye not yet understand? |
そこでイエスは彼らに言われた、「まだ悟らないのか」。 |
| 8-22 |
And they come unto Bethsaida. And they bring to him a blind man, and beseech
him to touch him. |
そのうちに、彼らはベツサイダに着いた。すると人々が、ひとりの盲人を連れてきて、さわってやっていただきたいとお願いした。 |
| 8-23 |
And he took hold of the blind man by the hand, and brought him out of the
village; and when he had spit on his eyes, and laid his hands upon him,
he asked him, Seest thou aught? |
イエスはこの盲人の手をとって、村の外に連れ出し、その両方の目につばきをつけ、両手を彼に当てて、「何か見えるか」と尋ねられた。 |

And he looked up, and said, I see men; for I behold them as trees, walking. |
すると彼は顔を上げて言った、「人が見えます。木のように見えます。歩いているようです」。 |
| 8-25 |
Then again he laid his hands upon his eyes; and he looked stedfastly, and
was restored, and saw all things clearly. |
それから、イエスが再び目の上に両手を当てられると、盲人は見つめているうちに、なおってきて、すべてのものがはっきりと見えだした。 |
| 8-26 |
And he sent him away to his home, saying, Do not even enter into the village. |
そこでイエスは、「村にはいってはいけない」と言って、彼を家に帰された。 |
| 8-27 |
And Jesus went forth, and his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea
Philippi: and on the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Who
do men say that I am? |
さて、イエスは弟子たちとピリポ・カイザリヤの村々へ出かけられたが、その途中で、弟子たちに尋ねて言われた、「人々は、わたしをだれと言っているか」。 |

And they told him, saying, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but others,
One of the prophets. |
彼らは答えて言った、「バプテスマのヨハネだと、言っています。また、エリヤだと言い、また、預言者のひとりだと言っている者もあります」。 |
| 8-29 |
And he asked them, But who say ye that I am? Peter answereth and saith
unto him, Thou art the Christ. |
そこでイエスは彼らに尋ねられた、「それでは、あなたがたはわたしをだれと言うか」。ペテロが答えて言った、「あなたこそキリストです」。 |
| 8-30 |
And he charged them that they should tell no man of him. |
するとイエスは、自分のことをだれにも言ってはいけないと、彼らを戒められた。 |
| 8-31 |
And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things,
and be rejected by the elders, and the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed, and after three days rise again. |
それから、人の子は必ず多くの苦しみを受け、長老、祭司長、律法学者たちに捨てられ、また殺され、そして三日の後によみがえるべきことを、彼らに教えはじめ、 |

And he spake the saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke
him. |
しかもあからさまに、この事を話された。すると、ペテロはイエスをわきへ引き寄せて、いさめはじめたので、 |
| 8-33 |
But he turning about, and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, and saith,
Get thee behind me, Satan; for thou mindest not the things of God, but
the things of men. |
イエスは振り返って、弟子たちを見ながら、ペテロをしかって言われた、「サタンよ、引きさがれ。あなたは神のことを思わないで、人のことを思っている」。 |
| 8-34 |
And he called unto him the multitude with his disciples, and said unto
them, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up
his cross, and follow me. |
それから群衆を弟子たちと一緒に呼び寄せて、彼らに言われた、「だれでもわたしについてきたいと思うなら、自分を捨て、自分の十字架を負うて、わたしに従ってきなさい。 |
| 8-35 |
For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose
his life for my sake and the gospel’s shall save it. |
自分の命を救おうと思う者はそれを失い、わたしのため、また福音のために、自分の命を失う者は、それを救うであろう。 |
| 8-36 |
For what doth it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and
forfeit his life? |
人が全世界をもうけても、自分の命を損したら、なんの得になろうか。 |
| 8-37 |
For what should a man give in exchange for his life? |
また、人はどんな代価を払って、その命を買いもどすことができようか。 |
| 8-38 |
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this
adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of man also shall be ashamed of him,
when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. |
邪悪で罪深いこの時代にあって、わたしとわたしの言葉とを恥じる者に対しては、人の子もまた、父の栄光のうちに聖なる御使たちと共に来るときに、その者を恥じるであろう」。 |
