And he called unto him his twelve disciples, and gave them
authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of
disease and all manner of sickness. |

Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon,
who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; |
十二使徒の名は、次のとおりである。まずペテロと呼ばれたシモンとその兄弟アンデレ、それからゼベダイの子ヤコブとその兄弟ヨハネ、 |

Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James
the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; |

Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. |

These twelve Jesus sent forth, and charged them, saying, Go not
into any way of the Gentiles, and enter not into any city of the
Samaritans: |
イエスはこの十二人をつかわすに当り、彼らに命じて言われた、「異邦人の道に行くな。またサマリヤ人の町にはいるな。 |

but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. |
むしろ、イスラエルの家の失われた羊のところに行け。 |
| 10-7 |
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. |
行って、『天国が近づいた』と宣べ伝えよ。 |
| 10-8 |
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons: freely
ye received, freely give. |
病人をいやし、死人をよみがえらせ、らい病人をきよめ、悪霊を追い出せ。ただで受けたのだから、ただで与えるがよい。 |
| 10-9 |
Get you no gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses; |
財布の中に金、銀または銭を入れて行くな。 |
| 10-10 |
no wallet for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy
of his food. |
旅行のための袋も、二枚の下着も、くつも、つえも持って行くな。働き人がその食物を得るのは当然である。 |
| 10-11 |
And into whatsoever city or village ye shall enter, search out who in it
is worthy; and there abide till ye go forth. |
どの町、どの村にはいっても、その中でだれがふさわしい人か、たずね出して、立ち去るまではその人のところにとどまっておれ。 |
| 10-12 |
And as ye enter into the house, salute it. |
その家にはいったなら、平安を祈ってあげなさい。 |
| 10-13 |
And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it
be not worthy, let your peace return to you. |
もし平安を受けるにふさわしい家であれば、あなたがたの祈る平安はその家に来るであろう。もしふさわしくなければ、その平安はあなたがたに帰って来るであろう。 |
| 10-14 |
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, as ye go
forth out of that house or that city, shake off the dust of your feet. |
もしあなたがたを迎えもせず、またあなたがたの言葉を聞きもしない人があれば、その家や町を立ち去る時に、足のちりを払い落しなさい。 |
| 10-15 |
Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of
Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city. |
あなたがたによく言っておく。さばきの日には、ソドム、ゴモラの地の方が、その町よりは耐えやすいであろう。 |
| 10-16 |
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye
therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. |
わたしがあなたがたをつかわすのは、羊をおおかみの中に送るようなものである。だから、へびのように賢く、はとのように素直であれ。 |
| 10-17 |
But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in theirs
synagogues they will scourge you; |
人々に注意しなさい。彼らはあなたがたを衆議所に引き渡し、会堂でむち打つであろう。 |
| 10-18 |
yea and before governors and kings shall ye be brought for my sake, for
a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. |
またあなたがたは、わたしのために長官たちや王たちの前に引き出されるであろう。それは、彼らと異邦人とに対してあかしをするためである。 |
| 10-19 |
But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak:
for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak. |
彼らがあなたがたを引き渡したとき、何をどう言おうかと心配しないがよい。言うべきことは、その時に授けられるからである。 |
| 10-20 |
For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that
speaketh in you. |
語る者は、あなたがたではなく、あなたがたの中にあって語る父の霊である。 |
| 10-21 |
And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his
child: and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to
death. |
兄弟は兄弟を、父は子を殺すために渡し、また子は親に逆らって立ち、彼らを殺させるであろう。 |
| 10-22 |
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth
to the end, the same shall be saved. |
またあなたがたは、わたしの名のゆえにすべての人に憎まれるであろう。しかし、最後まで耐え忍ぶ者は救われる。 |
| 10-23 |
But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next: for
verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, till
the Son of man be come. |
一つの町で迫害されたなら、他の町へ逃げなさい。よく言っておく。あなたがたがイスラエルの町々を回り終らないうちに、人の子は来るであろう。 |
| 10-24 |
A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his lord. |
弟子はその師以上のものではなく、僕はその主人以上の者ではない。 |
| 10-25 |
It is enough for the disciple that he be as his teacher, and the servant
as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how
much more them of his household! |
弟子がその師のようであり、僕がその主人のようであれば、それで十分である。もし家の主人がベルゼブルと言われるならば、その家の者どもはなおさら、どんなにか悪く言われることであろう。 |
| 10-26 |
Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be
revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. |
だから彼らを恐れるな。おおわれたもので、現れてこないものはなく、隠れているもので、知られてこないものはない。 |
| 10-27 |
What I tell you in the darkness, speak ye in the light; and what ye hear
in the ear, proclaim upon the house-tops. |
わたしが暗やみであなたがたに話すことを、明るみで言え。耳にささやかれたことを、屋根の上で言いひろめよ。 |
| 10-28 |
And be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill
the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body
in hell. |
また、からだを殺しても、魂を殺すことのできない者どもを恐れるな。むしろ、からだも魂も地獄で滅ぼす力のあるかたを恐れなさい。 |
| 10-29 |
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? and not one of them shall fall on
the ground without your Father: |
二羽のすずめは一アサリオンで売られているではないか。しかもあなたがたの父の許しがなければ、その一羽も地に落ちることはない。 |
| 10-30 |
but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. |
またあなたがたの頭の毛までも、みな数えられている。 |
| 10-31 |
Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. |
それだから、恐れることはない。あなたがたは多くのすずめよりも、まさった者である。 |
| 10-32 |
Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, him will I also confess
before my Father who is in heaven. |
だから人の前でわたしを受けいれる者を、わたしもまた、天にいますわたしの父の前で受けいれるであろう。 |
| 10-33 |
But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny
before my Father who is in heaven. |
しかし、人の前でわたしを拒む者を、わたしも天にいますわたしの父の前で拒むであろう。 |
| 10-34 |
Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to
send peace, but a sword. |
地上に平和をもたらすために、わたしがきたと思うな。平和ではなく、つるぎを投げ込むためにきたのである。 |
| 10-35 |
For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter
against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law: |
わたしがきたのは、人をその父と、娘をその母と、嫁をそのしゅうとめと仲たがいさせるためである。 |
| 10-36 |
and a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. |
そして家の者が、その人の敵となるであろう。 |
| 10-37 |
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he
that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. |
わたしよりも父または母を愛する者は、わたしにふさわしくない。わたしよりもむすこや娘を愛する者は、わたしにふさわしくない。 |
| 10-38 |
And he that doth not take his cross and follow after me, is not worthy
of me. |
また自分の十字架をとってわたしに従ってこない者はわたしにふさわしくない。 |
| 10-39 |
He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his
life for my sake shall find it. |
自分の命を得ている者はそれを失い、わたしのために自分の命を失っている者は、それを得るであろう。 |
| 10-40 |
He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth
him that sent me. |
あなたがたを受けいれる者は、わたしを受けいれるのである。わたしを受けいれる者は、わたしをおつかわしになったかたを受けいれるのである。 |
| 10-41 |
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s
reward: and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous
man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. |
預言者の名のゆえに預言者を受けいれる者は、預言者の報いを受け、義人の名のゆえに義人を受けいれる者は、義人の報いを受けるであろう。 |
| 10-42 |
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a
cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you he
shall in no wise lose his reward. |
わたしの弟子であるという名のゆえに、この小さい者のひとりに冷たい水一杯でも飲ませてくれる者は、よく言っておくが、決してその報いからもれることはない」。 |
