| 17-1 |
And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John his
brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart: |
六日ののち、イエスはペテロ、ヤコブ、ヤコブの兄弟ヨハネだけを連れて、高い山に登られた。 |
| 17-2 |
he was transfigured before them; and his face did shine as the sun,
and his garments became white as the light. |
ところが、彼らの目の前でイエスの姿が変り、その顔は日のように輝き、その衣は光のように白くなった。 |
| 17-3 |
And behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah talking with
him. |
すると、見よ、モーセとエリヤが彼らに現れて、イエスと語り合っていた。 |
| 17-4 |
And Peter answered, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be
here: if thou wilt, I will make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and
one for Moses, and one for Elijah. |
ペテロはイエスにむかって言った、「主よ、わたしたちがここにいるのは、すばらしいことです。もし、おさしつかえなければ、わたしはここに小屋を三つ建てましょう。一つはあなたのために、一つはモーセのために、一つはエリヤのために」。 |
| 17-5 |
While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and
behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom
I am well pleased; hear ye him. |
彼がまだ話し終えないうちに、たちまち、輝く雲が彼らをおおい、そして雲の中から声がした、「これはわたしの愛する子、わたしの心にかなう者である。これに聞け」。 |
| 17-6 |
And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were
sore afraid. |
弟子たちはこれを聞いて非常に恐れ、顔を地に伏せた。 |
| 17-7 |
And Jesus came and touched them and said, Arise, and be not afraid. |
イエスは近づいてきて、手を彼らにおいて言われた、「起きなさい、恐れることはない」。 |
| 17-8 |
And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, save Jesus only. |
彼らが目をあげると、イエスのほかには、だれも見えなかった。 |
| 17-9 |
And as they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying,
Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen from the dead. |
一同が山を下って来るとき、イエスは「人の子が死人の中からよみがえるまでは、いま見たことをだれにも話してはならない」と、彼らに命じられた。 |
| 17-10 |
And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elijah
must first come? |
弟子たちはイエスにお尋ねして言った、「いったい、律法学者たちは、なぜ、エリヤが先に来るはずだと言っているのですか」。 |
| 17-11 |
And he answered and said, Elijah indeed cometh, and shall restore all things: |
答えて言われた、「確かに、エリヤがきて、万事を元どおりに改めるであろう。 |
| 17-12 |
but I say unto you, that Elijah is come already, and they knew him not,
but did unto him whatsoever they would. Even so shall the Son of man also
suffer of them. |
しかし、あなたがたに言っておく。エリヤはすでにきたのだ。しかし人々は彼を認めず、自分かってに彼をあしらった。人の子もまた、そのように彼らから苦しみを受けることになろう」。 |
| 17-13 |
Then understood the disciples that he spake unto them of John the
Baptist. |
そのとき、弟子たちは、イエスがバプテスマのヨハネのことを言われたのだと悟った。 |
| 17-14 |
And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a man,
kneeling to him, saying, |
さて彼らが群衆のところに帰ると、ひとりの人がイエスに近寄ってきて、ひざまずいて、言った、 |
| 17-15 |
Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is epileptic, and suffereth grievously;
for oft-times he falleth into the fire, and off-times into the water. |
「主よ、わたしの子をあわれんでください。てんかんで苦しんでおります。何度も何度も火の中や水の中に倒れるのです。 |
| 17-16 |
And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. |
それで、その子をお弟子たちのところに連れてきましたが、なおしていただけませんでした」。 |
| 17-17 |
And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long
shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him hither to
me. |
イエスは答えて言われた、「ああ、なんという不信仰な、曲った時代であろう。いつまで、わたしはあなたがたと一緒におられようか。いつまであなたがたに我慢ができようか。その子をここに、わたしのところに連れてきなさい」。 |
| 17-18 |
And Jesus rebuked him; and the demon went out of him: and the boy
was cured from that hour. |
イエスがおしかりになると、悪霊はその子から出て行った。そして子はその時いやされた。 |
| 17-19 |
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we
cast it out? |
それから、弟子たちがひそかにイエスのもとにきて言った、「わたしたちは、どうして霊を追い出せなかったのですか」。 |
| 17-20 |
And he saith unto them, Because of your little faith: for verily I say
unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto
this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing
shall be impossible unto you. |
するとイエスは言われた、「あなたがたの信仰が足りないからである。よく言い聞かせておくが、もし、からし種一粒ほどの信仰があるなら、この山にむかって『ここからあそこに移れ』と言えば、移るであろう。このように、あなたがたにできない事は、何もないであろう。 |
| 17-21 |
But this kind goeth not out save by prayer and fasting. |
〔しかし、このたぐいは、祈と断食とによらなければ、追い出すことはできない〕」。 |
| 17-22 |
And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall
be delivered up into the hands of men; |
彼らがガリラヤで集まっていた時、イエスは言われた、「人の子は人々の手にわたされ、 |
| 17-23 |
and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised up.
And they were exceeding sorry. |
彼らに殺され、そして三日目によみがえるであろう」。弟子たちは非常に心をいためた。 |
| 17-24 |
And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received the
half-shekel came to Peter, and said, Doth not your teacher pay the half-shekel? |
彼らがカペナウムにきたとき、宮の納入金を集める人たちがペテロのところにきて言った、「あなたがたの先生は宮の納入金を納めないのか」。 |
| 17-25 |
He saith, Yea. And when he came into the house, Jesus spake first to him,
saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? the kings of the earth, from whom do
they receive toll or tribute? from their sons, or from strangers? |
ペテロは「納めておられます」と言った。そして彼が家にはいると、イエスから先に話しかけて言われた、「シモン、あなたはどう思うか。この世の王たちは税や貢をだれから取るのか。自分の子からか、それとも、ほかの人たちからか」。 |
| 17-26 |
And when he said, From strangers, Jesus said unto him, Therefore
the sons are free. |
ペテロが「ほかの人たちからです」と答えると、イエスは言われた、「それでは、子は納めなくてもよいわけである。 |
| 17-27 |
But, lest we cause them to stumble, go thou to the sea, and cast a
hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his
mouth, thou shalt find a shekel: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. |
しかし、彼らをつまずかせないために、海に行って、つり針をたれなさい。そして最初につれた魚をとって、その口をあけると、銀貨一枚が見つかるであろう。それをとり出して、わたしとあなたのために納めなさい」。 |
