| 19-1 |
And it came to pass when Jesus had finished these words, he
departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judaea beyond the Jordan; |
イエスはこれらのことを語り終えられてから、ガリラヤを去ってヨルダンの向こうのユダヤの地方へ行かれた。 |
| 19-2 |
great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there. |
すると大ぜいの群衆がついてきたので、彼らをそこでおいやしになった。 |
| 19-3 |
And there came unto him Pharisees, trying him, and saying, Is it
lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? |
さてパリサイ人たちが近づいてきて、イエスを試みようとして言った、「何かの理由で、夫がその妻を出すのは、さしつかえないでしょうか」。 |
| 19-4 |
And he answered and said, Have ye not read, that he who made
them from the beginning made them male and female, |
イエスは答えて言われた、「あなたがたはまだ読んだことがないのか。『創造者は初めから人を男と女とに造られ、 |
| 19-5 |
said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and
shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh? |
そして言われた、それゆえに、人は父母を離れ、その妻と結ばれ、ふたりの者は一体となるべきである』。 |
| 19-6 |
So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined
together, let not man put asunder. |
彼らはもはや、ふたりではなく一体である。だから、神が合わせられたものを、人は離してはならない」。 |
| 19-7 |
They say unto him, Why then did Moses command to give a bill of
divorcement, and to put her away?

彼らはイエスに言った、「それでは、なぜモーセは、妻を出す場合には離縁状を渡せ、と定めたのですか」。 |
| 19-8 |
He saith unto them, Moses for your hardness of heart suffered you to put
away your wives: but from the beginning it hath not been so. |
イエスが言われた、「モーセはあなたがたの心が、かたくななので、妻を出すことを許したのだが、初めからそうではなかった。 |
| 19-9 |
And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication,
and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth her
when she is put away committeth adultery. |
そこでわたしはあなたがたに言う。不品行のゆえでなくて、自分の妻を出して他の女をめとる者は、姦淫を行うのである」。 |
| 19-10 |
The disciples say unto him, If the case of the man is so with his wife,
it is not expedient to marry. |
弟子たちは言った、「もし妻に対する夫の立場がそうだとすれば、結婚しない方がましです」。 |
| 19-11 |
But he said unto them, Not all men can receive this saying, but they to
whom it is given. |
するとイエスは彼らに言われた、「その言葉を受けいれることができるのはすべての人ではなく、ただそれを授けられている人々だけである。 |
| 19-12 |
For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother’s womb:
and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs,
that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able
to receive it, let him receive it. |
というのは、母の胎内から独身者に生れついているものがあり、また他から独身者にされたものもあり、また天国のために、みずから進んで独身者となったものもある。この言葉を受けられる者は、受けいれるがよい」。 |
| 19-13 |
Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should
lay his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. |
そのとき、イエスに手をおいて祈っていただくために、人々が幼な子らをみもとに連れてきた。ところが、弟子たちは彼らをたしなめた。 |
| 19-14 |
But Jesus said, Suffer the little children, and forbid them not,
to come unto me: for to such belongeth the kingdom of heaven. |
するとイエスは言われた、「幼な子らをそのままにしておきなさい。わたしのところに来るのをとめてはならない。天国はこのような者の国である」。 |
| 19-15 |
And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence. |
そして手を彼らの上においてから、そこを去って行かれた。 |
| 19-16 |
And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I
do, that I may have eternal life? |
すると、ひとりの人がイエスに近寄ってきて言った、「先生、永遠の生命を得るためには、どんなよいことをしたらいいでしょうか」。 |
| 19-17 |
And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good?
One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the
commandments. |
イエスは言われた、「なぜよい事についてわたしに尋ねるのか。よいかたはただひとりだけである。もし命に入りたいと思うなら、いましめを守りなさい」。 |
| 19-18 |
He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill,
Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false
witness,

イエスは言われた、「なぜよい事についてわたしに尋ねるのか。よいかたはただひとりだけである。もし命に入りたいと思うなら、いましめを守りなさい」。 |
| 19-19 |
Honor thy father and mother; and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as
thyself. |
父と母とを敬え』。また『自分を愛するように、あなたの隣り人を愛せよ』」。 |
| 19-20 |
The young man saith unto him, All these things have I observed:
what lack I yet? |
この青年はイエスに言った、「それはみな守ってきました。ほかに何が足りないのでしょう」。 |
| 19-21 |
Jesus said unto him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell that which thou
hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and
come, follow me. |
イエスは彼に言われた、「もしあなたが完全になりたいと思うなら、帰ってあなたの持ち物を売り払い、貧しい人々に施しなさい。そうすれば、天に宝を持つようになろう。そして、わたしに従ってきなさい」。 |
| 19-22 |
But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sorrowful;
for he was one that had great possessions. |
この言葉を聞いて、青年は悲しみながら立ち去った。たくさんの資産を持っていたからである。 |
| 19-23 |
And Jesus said unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, It is
hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven. |
それからイエスは弟子たちに言われた、「よく聞きなさい。富んでいる者が天国にはいるのは、むずかしいものである。 |
| 19-24 |
And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s
eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. |
また、あなたがたに言うが、富んでいる者が神の国にはいるよりは、らくだが針の穴を通る方が、もっとやさしい」。 |
| 19-25 |
And when the disciples heard it, they were astonished exceedingly, saying,
Who then can be saved? |
弟子たちはこれを聞いて非常に驚いて言った、「では、だれが救われることができるのだろう」。 |
| 19-26 |
And Jesus looking upon them said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are
possible. |
イエスは彼らを見つめて言われた、「人にはそれはできないが、神にはなんでもできない事はない」。 |
| 19-27 |
Then answered Peter and said unto him, Lo, we have left all, and
followed thee; what then shall we have? |
そのとき、ペテロがイエスに答えて言った、「ごらんなさい、わたしたちはいっさいを捨てて、あなたに従いました。ついては、何がいただけるでしょうか」。 |
| 19-28 |
And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that ye who have followed
me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of
his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes
of Israel. |
イエスは彼らに言われた、「よく聞いておくがよい。世が改まって、人の子がその栄光の座につく時には、わたしに従ってきたあなたがたもまた、十二の位に座してイスラエルの十二の部族をさばくであろう。 |
| 19-29 |
And every one that hath left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father,
or mother, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold,
and shall inherit eternal life. |
おおよそ、わたしの名のために、家、兄弟、姉妹、父、母、子、もしくは畑を捨てた者は、その幾倍もを受け、また永遠の生命を受けつぐであろう。 |
| 19-30 |
But many shall be last that are first; and first that
are last. |
しかし、多くの先の者はあとになり、あとの者は先になるであろう。 |
