| 25-1 |
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who took
their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. |
そこで天国は、十人のおとめがそれぞれあかりを手にして、花婿を迎えに出て行くのに似ている。 |
| 25-2 |
And five of them were foolish, and five were wise. |
その中の五人は思慮が浅く、五人は思慮深い者であった。 |
| 25-3 |
For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them: |
思慮の浅い者たちは、あかりは持っていたが、油を用意していなかった。 |
| 25-4 |
but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. |
しかし、思慮深い者たちは、自分たちのあかりと一緒に、入れものの中に油を用意していた。 |
| 25-5 |
Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. |
花婿の来るのがおくれたので、彼らはみな居眠りをして、寝てしまった。 |
| 25-6 |
But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to
meet him. |
夜中に、『さあ、花婿だ、迎えに出なさい』と叫ぶ声がした。 |
| 25-7 |
Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. |
そのとき、おとめたちはみな起きて、それぞれあかりを整えた。 |
| 25-8 |
And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps
are going out. |
ところが、思慮の浅い女たちが、思慮深い女たちに言った、『あなたがたの油をわたしたちにわけてください。わたしたちのあかりが消えかかっていますから』。 |
| 25-9 |
But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for
us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. |
すると、思慮深い女たちは答えて言った、『わたしたちとあなたがたとに足りるだけは、多分ないでしょう。店に行って、あなたがたの分をお買いになる方がよいでしょう』。 |
| 25-10 |
And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were
ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut. |
彼らが買いに出ているうちに、花婿が着いた。そこで、用意のできていた女たちは、花婿と一緒に婚宴のへやにはいり、そして戸がしめられた。 |
| 25-11 |
Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. |
そのあとで、ほかのおとめたちもきて、『ご主人様、ご主人様、どうぞ、あけてください』と言った。 |
| 25-12 |
But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. |
しかし彼は答えて、『はっきり言うが、わたしはあなたがたを知らない』と言った。 |
| 25-13 |
Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour. |
だから、目をさましていなさい。その日その時が、あなたがたにはわからないからである。 |
| 25-14 |
For it is as when a man, going into another country, called his own servants, and delivered
unto them his goods. |
また天国は、ある人が旅に出るとき、その僕どもを呼んで、自分の財産を預けるようなものである。 |
| 25-15 |
And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each
according to his several ability; and he went on his journey. |
すなわち、それぞれの能力に応じて、ある者には五タラント、ある者には二タラント、ある者には一タラントを与えて、旅に出た。 |
| 25-16 |
Straightway he that received the five talents went and traded with
them, and made other five talents. |
五タラントを渡された者は、すぐに行って、それで商売をして、ほかに五タラントをもうけた。 |
| 25-17 |
In like manner he also that received the two gained other two. |
二タラントの者も同様にして、ほかに二タラントをもうけた。 |
| 25-18 |
But he that received the one went away and digged in the earth, and hid
his lord’s money. |
しかし、一タラントを渡された者は、行って地を掘り、主人の金を隠しておいた。 |
| 25-19 |
Now after a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and maketh a reckoning
with them. |
だいぶ時がたってから、これらの僕の主人が帰ってきて、彼らと計算をしはじめた。 |
| 25-20 |
And he that received the five talents came and brought other five talents,
saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: lo, I have gained
other five talents. |
すると五タラントを渡された者が進み出て、ほかの五タラントをさし出して言った、『ご主人様、あなたはわたしに五タラントをお預けになりましたが、ごらんのとおり、ほかに五タラントをもうけました』。 |
| 25-21 |
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou
hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter
thou into the joy of thy lord. |
主人は彼に言った、『良い忠実な僕よ、よくやった。あなたはわずかなものに忠実であったから、多くのものを管理させよう。主人と一緒に喜んでくれ』。 |
| 25-22 |
And he also that received the two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents:
lo, I have gained other two talents |
二タラントの者も進み出て言った、『ご主人様、あなたはわたしに二タラントをお預けになりましたが、ごらんのとおり、ほかに二タラントをもうけました』。 |
| 25-23 |
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast
been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter
thou into the joy of thy lord. |
主人は彼に言った、『良い忠実な僕よ、よくやった。あなたはわずかなものに忠実であったから、多くのものを管理させよう。主人と一緒に喜んでくれ』。 |
| 25-24 |
And he also that had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew
thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering
where thou didst not scatter; |
一タラントを渡された者も進み出て言った、『ご主人様、わたしはあなたが、まかない所から刈り、散らさない所から集める酷な人であることを承知していました。 |
| 25-25 |
and I was afraid, and went away and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, thou
hast thine own. |
そこで恐ろしさのあまり、行って、あなたのタラントを地の中に隠しておきました。ごらんください。ここにあなたのお金がございます』。 |
| 25-26 |
But his lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful
servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I did not
scatter; |
すると、主人は彼に答えて言った、『悪い怠惰な僕よ、あなたはわたしが、まかない所から刈り、散らさない所から集めることを知っているのか。 |
| 25-27 |
oughtest therefore to have put my money to the bankers, and at my
coming I should have received back mine own with interest. |
それなら、わたしの金を銀行に預けておくべきであった。そうしたら、わたしは帰ってきて、利子と一緒にわたしの金を返してもらえたであろうに。 |
| 25-28 |
Take ye away therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him that hath
the ten talents. |
さあ、そのタラントをこの者から取りあげて、十タラントを持っている者にやりなさい。 |
| 25-29 |
For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have
abundance: but from him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken
away. |
おおよそ、持っている人は与えられて、いよいよ豊かになるが、持っていない人は、持っているものまでも取り上げられるであろう。 |
| 25-30 |
And cast ye out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness:
there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. |
この役に立たない僕を外の暗い所に追い出すがよい。彼は、そこで泣き叫んだり、歯がみをしたりするであろう』。 |
| 25-31 |
But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with
him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory: |
人の子が栄光の中にすべての御使たちを従えて来るとき、彼はその栄光の座につくであろう。 |
| 25-32 |
before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate
them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats; |
そして、すべての国民をその前に集めて、羊飼が羊とやぎとを分けるように、彼らをより分け、 |
| 25-33 |
and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. |
羊を右に、やぎを左におくであろう。 |
| 25-34 |
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye
blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation
of the world:

そのとき、王は右にいる人々に言うであろう、『わたしの父に祝福された人たちよ、さあ、世の初めからあなたがたのために用意されている御国を受けつぎなさい。 |
| 25-35 |
for I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me
drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; |
あなたがたは、わたしが空腹のときに食べさせ、かわいていたときに飲ませ、旅人であったときに宿を貸し、 |
| 25-36 |
naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison,
and ye came unto me. |
裸であったときに着せ、病気のときに見舞い、獄にいたときに尋ねてくれたからである』。 |
| 25-37 |
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry,
and fed thee? or athirst, and gave thee drink? |
そのとき、正しい者たちは答えて言うであろう、『主よ、いつ、わたしたちは、あなたが空腹であるのを見て食物をめぐみ、かわいているのを見て飲ませましたか。 |
| 25-38 |
And when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed
thee? |
いつあなたが旅人であるのを見て宿を貸し、裸なのを見て着せましたか。 |
| 25-39 |
And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? |
また、いつあなたが病気をし、獄にいるのを見て、あなたの所に参りましたか』。 |
| 25-40 |
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto
you, Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, even these least, ye did it unto me. |
すると、王は答えて言うであろう、『あなたがたによく言っておく。わたしの兄弟であるこれらの最も小さい者のひとりにしたのは、すなわち、わたしにしたのである』。 |
| 25-41 |
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed,
into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels: |
それから、左にいる人々にも言うであろう、『のろわれた者どもよ、わたしを離れて、悪魔とその使たちとのために用意されている永遠の火にはいってしまえ。 |
| 25-42 |
for I was hungry, and ye did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye
gave me no drink; |
あなたがたは、わたしが空腹のときに食べさせず、かわいていたときに飲ませず、 |
| 25-43 |
was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me
not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. |
旅人であったときに宿を貸さず、裸であったときに着せず、また病気のときや、獄にいたときに、わたしを尋ねてくれなかったからである』。 |
| 25-44 |
Then shall they also answer, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or
athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister
unto thee? |
そのとき、彼らもまた答えて言うであろう、『主よ、いつ、あなたが空腹であり、かわいておられ、旅人であり、裸であり、病気であり、獄におられたのを見て、わたしたちはお世話をしませんでしたか』。 |
| 25-45 |
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye
did it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me. |
そのとき、彼は答えて言うであろう、『あなたがたによく言っておく。これらの最も小さい者のひとりにしなかったのは、すなわち、わたしにしなかったのである』。 |
| 25-46 |
And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous
into eternal life. |
そして彼らは永遠の刑罰を受け、正しい者は永遠の生命に入るであろう」。 |
