| 4-1 |
Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of
the devil. |
さて、イエスは御霊によって荒野に導かれた。悪魔に試みられるためである。 |

And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he afterward hungered. |
そして、四十日四十夜、断食をし、そののち空腹になられた。 |
| 4-3 |
And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command
that these stones become bread. |
すると試みる者がきて言った、「もしあなたが神の子であるなら、これらの石がパンになるように命じてごらんなさい」。 |
| 4-4 |
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. |
イエスは答えて言われた、「『人はパンだけで生きるものではなく、神の口から出る一つ一つの言で生きるものである』と書いてある」。 |
| 4-5 |
Then the devil taketh him into the holy city; and he set him on the pinnacle
of the temple, |
それから悪魔は、イエスを聖なる都に連れて行き、宮の頂上に立たせて |
| 4-6 |
and saith unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down:
for it is written,He shall give his angels charge concerning thee:and, On their hands they
shall bear thee up,Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone. |
言った、「もしあなたが神の子であるなら、下へ飛びおりてごらんなさい。『神はあなたのために御使たちにお命じになると、あなたの足が石に打ちつけられないように、彼らはあなたを手でささえるであろう』と書いてありますから」。 |

Jesus said unto him, Again it is written, Thou shalt not make trial of
the Lord thy God. |
イエスは彼に言われた、「『主なるあなたの神を試みてはならない』とまた書いてある」。 |
| 4-8 |
Again, the devil taketh him unto an exceeding high mountain, and showeth
him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; |
次に悪魔は、イエスを非常に高い山に連れて行き、この世のすべての国々とその栄華とを見せて |
| 4-9 |
he said unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt
fall down and worship me. |
言った、「もしあなたが、ひれ伏してわたしを拝むなら、これらのものを皆あなたにあげましょう」。 |
| 4-10 |
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is
written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. |
するとイエスは彼に言われた、「サタンよ、退け。『主なるあなたの神を拝し、ただ神にのみ仕えよ』と書いてある」。 |

Then the devil leaveth him; and behold, angels came and ministered
unto him. |
そこで、悪魔はイエスを離れ去り、そして、御使たちがみもとにきて仕えた。 |
| 4-12 |
Now when he heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee; |
さて、イエスはヨハネが捕えられたと聞いて、ガリラヤへ退かれた。 |
| 4-13 |
nd leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by
the sea, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali: |
さて、イエスはヨハネが捕えられたと聞いて、ガリラヤへ退かれた。 |
| 4-14 |
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the
prophet, saying, |
これは預言者イザヤによって言われた言が、成就するためである。 |
| 4-15 |
The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,Toward the sea, beyond the Jordan,Galilee of the Gentiles, |
「ゼブルンの地、ナフタリの地、海に沿う地方、ヨルダンの向こうの地、異邦人のガリラヤ、 |
| 4-16 |
The people that sat in darkness Saw a great light, And to them that sat in the region and shadow of death,
To them did light spring up. |
暗黒の中に住んでいる民は大いなる光を見、死の地、死の陰に住んでいる人々に、光がのぼった」。 |
| 4-17 |
From that time began Jesus to preach, and to say, Repent ye; for
the kingdom of heaven is at hand. |
この時からイエスは教を宣べはじめて言われた、「悔い改めよ、天国は近づいた」。 |
| 4-18 |
And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brethren, Simon who
is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they
were fishers. |
さて、イエスがガリラヤの海べを歩いておられると、ふたりの兄弟、すなわち、ペテロと呼ばれたシモンとその兄弟アンデレとが、海に網を打っているのをごらんになった。彼らは漁師であった。 |
| 4-19 |
And he saith unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you
fishers of men. |
イエスは彼らに言われた、「わたしについてきなさい。あなたがたを、人間をとる漁師にしてあげよう」。 |
| 4-20 |
And they straightway left the nets, and followed him. |
すると、彼らはすぐに網を捨てて、イエスに従った。 |
| 4-21 |
And going on from thence he saw two other brethren, James the
son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father,
mending their nets; and he called them. |
そこから進んで行かれると、ほかのふたりの兄弟、すなわち、ゼベダイの子ヤコブとその兄弟ヨハネとが、父ゼベダイと一緒に、舟の中で網を繕っているのをごらんになった。そこで彼らをお招きになると、 |

And they straightway left the boat and their father, and followed
him. |
すぐ舟と父とをおいて、イエスに従って行った。 |
| 4-23 |
And Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and
preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of disease
and all manner of sickness among the people. |
イエスはガリラヤの全地を巡り歩いて、諸会堂で教え、御国の福音を宣べ伝え、民の中のあらゆる病気、あらゆるわずらいをおいやしになった。 |
| 4-24 |
And the report of him went forth into all Syria: and they brought
unto him all that were sick, holden with divers diseases and torments, possessed
with demons, and epileptic, and palsied; and he healed them.

そこで、その評判はシリヤ全地にひろまり、人々があらゆる病にかかっている者、すなわち、いろいろの病気と苦しみとに悩んでいる者、悪霊につかれている者、てんかん、中風の者などをイエスのところに連れてきたので、これらの人々をおいやしになった。 |

And there followed him great multitudes from Galilee and Decapolis
and Jerusalem and Judaea and from beyond the Jordan. |
こうして、ガリラヤ、デカポリス、エルサレム、ユダヤ及びヨルダンの向こうから、おびただしい群衆がきてイエスに従った。 |
