３-１ Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not irksome, but for you it is safe. 最後に、わたしの兄弟たちよ。主にあって喜びなさい。さきに書いたのと同じことをここで繰り返すが、それは、わたしには煩らわしいことではなく、あなたがたには安全なことになる。
３-２ Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the concision: あの犬どもを警戒しなさい。悪い働き人たちを警戒しなさい。肉に割礼の傷をつけている人たちを警戒しなさい。
３-３ for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh: 神の霊によって礼拝をし、キリスト・イエスを誇とし、肉を頼みとしないわたしたちこそ、割礼の者である。
３-４ though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh: if any other man thinketh to have confidence in the flesh, I yet more: もとより、肉の頼みなら、わたしにも無くはない。もし、だれかほかの人が肉を頼みとしていると言うなら、わたしはそれをもっと頼みとしている。
３-５ circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; わたしは八日目に割礼を受けた者、イスラエルの民族に属する者、ベニヤミン族の出身、ヘブル人の中のヘブル人、律法の上ではパリサイ人、
３-６ as touching zeal, persecuting the church; as touching the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless. 熱心の点では教会の迫害者、律法の義については落ち度のない者である。
３-７ Howbeit what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ. しかし、わたしにとって益であったこれらのものを、キリストのゆえに損と思うようになった。
３-８ Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ, わたしは、更に進んで、わたしの主キリスト・イエスを知る知識の絶大な価値のゆえに、いっさいのものを損と思っている。キリストのゆえに、わたしはすべてを失ったが、それらのものを、ふん土のように思っている。それは、わたしがキリストを得るためであり、
３-９ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, even that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith: 律法による自分の義ではなく、キリストを信じる信仰による義、すなわち、信仰に基く神からの義を受けて、キリストのうちに自分を見いだすようになるためである。
３-１０ that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death; すなわち、キリストとその復活の力とを知り、その苦難にあずかって、その死のさまとひとしくなり、
３-１１ if by any means I may attain unto the resurrection from the dead. なんとかして死人のうちからの復活に達したいのである。
３-１２ Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus. わたしがすでにそれを得たとか、すでに完全な者になっているとか言うのではなく、ただ捕えようとして追い求めているのである。そうするのは、キリスト・イエスによって捕えられているからである。
３-１３ Brethren, I could not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, 兄弟たちよ。わたしはすでに捕えたとは思っていない。ただこの一事を努めている。すなわち、後のものを忘れ、前のものに向かってからだを伸ばしつつ、
３-１４ I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 目標を目ざして走り、キリスト・イエスにおいて上に召して下さる神の賞与を得ようと努めているのである。
３-１５ Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, this also shall God reveal unto you: だから、わたしたちの中で全き人たちは、そのように考えるべきである。しかし、あなたがたが違った考えを持っているなら、神はそのことも示して下さるであろう。
３-１６ only, whereunto we have attained, by that same rule let us walk. ただ、わたしたちは、達し得たところに従って進むべきである。
３-１７ Brethren, be ye imitators together of me, and mark them that so walk even as ye have us for an ensample. 兄弟たちよ。どうか、わたしにならう者となってほしい。また、あなたがたの模範にされているわたしたちにならって歩く人たちに、目をとめなさい。
３-１８ For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: わたしがそう言うのは、キリストの十字架に敵対して歩いている者が多いからである。わたしは、彼らのことをしばしばあなたがたに話したが、今また涙を流して語る。
３-１９ whose end is perdition, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things. 彼らの最後は滅びである。彼らの神はその腹、彼らの栄光はその恥、彼らの思いは地上のことである。
３-２０ For our citizenship is in heaven; whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: しかし、わたしたちの国籍は天にある。そこから、救主、主イエス・キリストのこられるのを、わたしたちは待ち望んでいる。
３-２１ who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things unto himself. 彼は、万物をご自身に従わせうる力の働きによって、わたしたちの卑しいからだを、ご自身の栄光のからだと同じかたちに変えて下さるであろう。
