Hear this word that Jehovah hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying, |
イスラエルの人々よ、主があなたがたに向かって言われたこと、わたしがエジプトの地から導き上った全家に向かって言ったこの言葉を聞け。 |

You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will visit upon you all your iniquities. |
「地のもろもろのやからのうちで、わたしはただ、あなたがただけを知った。それゆえ、わたしはあなたがたのもろもろの罪のため、あなたがたを罰する。 |

Shall two walk together, except they have agreed? |
ふたりの者がもし約束しなかったなら、一緒に歩くだろうか。 |
| 3-4 |
Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing? |
ししがもし獲物がなかったなら、林の中でほえるだろうか。若いししがもし物をつかまなかったなら、その穴から声を出すだろうか。 |
| 3-5 |
Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is set for him? shall a snare spring up from the ground, and have taken nothing at all? |
もしわながなかったなら、鳥は地に張った網にかかるだろうか。網にもし何もかからなかったなら、地からとびあがるだろうか。 |

Shall the trumpet be blown in a city, and the people not be afraid? shall evil befall a city, and Jehovah hath not done it? |
町でラッパが鳴ったなら、民は驚かないだろうか。主がなされるのでなければ、町に災が起るだろうか。 |
| 3-7 |
Surely the Lord Jehovah will do nothing, except he reveal his secret unto his servants the prophets. |
まことに主なる神はそのしもべである預言者にその隠れた事を示さないでは、何事をもなされない。 |
| 3-8 |
The lion hath roared; who will not fear? The Lord Jehovah hath spoken; who can but prophesy? |
ししがほえる、だれが恐れないでいられよう。主なる神が語られる、だれが預言しないでいられよう」。 |
| 3-9 |
Publish ye in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold what great tumults are therein, and what oppressions in the midst thereof. |
アッスリヤにあるもろもろの宮殿、エジプトの地にあるもろもろの宮殿に宣べて言え、「サマリヤの山々に集まり、そのうちにある大いなる騒ぎと、その中で行われる暴虐とを見よ」と。 |

For they know not to do right, saith Jehovah, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces. |
主は言われる、「彼らは正義を行うことを知らず、しえたげ取った物と奪い取った物とをそのもろもろの宮殿にたくわえている」。 |

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: An adversary there shall be, even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be plundered. |
それゆえ主なる神はこう言われる、「敵がきて、この国を囲み、あなたの防備をあなたから取り除き、あなたのもろもろの宮殿はかすめられる」。 |

Thus saith Jehovah: As the shepherd rescueth out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued that sit in Samaria in the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed. |
主はこう言われる、「羊飼がししの口から、羊の両足、あるいは片耳を取り返すように、サマリヤに住むイスラエルの人々も、長いすのすみや、寝台の一部を携えて救われるであろう」。 |

Hear ye, and testify against the house of Jacob, saith the Lord Jehovah, the God of hosts. |
万軍の神、主なる神は言われる、「聞け、そしてヤコブの家に証言せよ。 |
| 3-14 |
For in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also visit the altars of Beth-el; and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground. |
わたしはイスラエルのもろもろのとがを罰する日にベテルの祭壇を罰する。その祭壇の角は折れて、地に落ちる。 |

And I will smite the winter-house with the summer-house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith Jehovah. |
わたしはまた冬の家と夏の家とを撃つ、象牙の家は滅び、大いなる家は消えうせる」と主は言われる。 |
