So the king and Haman came to banquet with Esther the queen. |
王とハマンは王妃エステルの酒宴に臨んだ。 |

And the king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of
wine, What is thy petition, queen Esther? and it shall be granted thee:
and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed. |
このふつか目の酒宴に王はまたエステルに言った、「王妃エステルよ、あなたの求めることは何か。必ず聞かれる。あなたの願いは何か。国の半ばでも聞きとどけられる」。 |

Then Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favor in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request: |
王妃エステルは答えて言った、「王よ、もしわたしが王の目の前に恵みを得、また王がもしよしとされるならば、わたしの求めにしたがってわたしの命をわたしに与え、またわたしの願いにしたがってわたしの民をわたしに与えてください。 |

for we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my peace, although the adversary could not have compensated for the king’s damage. |
わたしとわたしの民は売られて滅ぼされ、殺され、絶やされようとしています。もしわたしたちが男女の奴隷として売られただけなら、わたしは黙っていたでしょう。わたしたちの難儀は王の損失とは比較にならないからです」。 |

Then spake the king Ahasuerus and said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so? |
アハシュエロス王は王妃エステルに言った、「そんな事をしようと心にたくらんでいる者はだれか。またどこにいるのか」。 |

And Esther said, An adversary and an enemy, even this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen. |
エステルは言った、「そのあだ、その敵はこの悪いハマンです」。そこでハマンは王と王妃の前に恐れおののいた。 |
| 7-7 |
And the king arose in his wrath from the banquet of wine and went into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king. |
王は怒って酒宴の席を立ち、宮殿の園へ行ったが、ハマンは残って王妃エステルに命ごいをした。彼は王が自分に害を加えようと定めたのを見たからである。 |

Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the couch whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he even force the queen before me in the house? As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face. |
王が宮殿の園から酒宴の場所に帰ってみると、エステルのいた長いすの上にハマンが伏していたので、王は言った、「彼はまたわたしの家で、しかもわたしの前で王妃をはずかしめようとするのか」。この言葉が王の口から出たとき、人々は、ハマンの顔をおおった。 |

9?Then said Harbonah, one of the chamberlains that were before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman hath made for Mordecai, who spake good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. And the king said, Hang him thereon. |
その時、王に付き添っていたひとりの侍従ハルボナが「王のためによい事を告げたあのモルデカイのためにハマンが用意した高さ五十キュビトの木がハマンの家に立っています」と言ったので、王は「彼をそれに掛けよ」と言った。 |

So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king’s wrath pacified. |
そこで人々はハマンをモルデカイのために備えてあったその木に掛けた。こうして王の怒りは和らいだ。 |
