13-1 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, 主はモーセに言われた、
13-2 Sanctify unto me all the first-born, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine. 「イスラエルの人々のうちで、すべてのういご、すなわちすべて初めに胎を開いたものを、人であれ、獣であれ、みな、わたしのために聖別しなければならない。それはわたしのものである」。
13-3 And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand Jehovah brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten. モーセは民に言った、「あなたがたは、エジプトから、奴隷の家から出るこの日を覚えなさい。主が強い手をもって、あなたがたをここから導き出されるからである。種を入れたパンを食べてはならない。
13-4 This day ye go forth in the month Abib. あなたがたはアビブの月のこの日に出るのである。
13-5 And it shall be, when Jehovah shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month. 主があなたに与えると、あなたの先祖たちに誓われたカナンびと、ヘテびと、アモリびと、ヒビびと、エブスびとの地、乳と蜜との流れる地に、導き入れられる時、あなたはこの月にこの儀式を守らなければならない。
13-6 Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to Jehovah. 七日のあいだ種入れぬパンを食べ、七日目には主に祭をしなければならない。
13-7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten throughout the seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee, in all thy borders. 種入れぬパンを七日のあいだ食べなければならない。種を入れたパンをあなたの所に置いてはならない。また、あなたの地区のどこでも、あなたの所にパン種を置いてはならない。
13-8 And thou shalt tell thy son in that day, saying, It is because of that which Jehovah did for me when I came forth out of Egypt. その日、あなたの子に告げて言いなさい、『これはわたしがエジプトから出るときに、主がわたしになされたことのためである』。
13-9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thy hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the law of Jehovah may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath Jehovah brought thee out of Egypt. そして、これを、手につけて、しるしとし、目の間に置いて記念とし、主の律法をあなたの口に置かなければならない。主が強い手をもって、あなたをエジプトから導き出されるからである。
13-10 Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in its season from year to year. それゆえ、あなたはこの定めを年々その期節に守らなければならない。
13-11 And it shall be, when Jehovah shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanite, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee, 主があなたとあなたの先祖たちに誓われたように、あなたをカナンびとの地に導いて、それをあなたに賜わる時、
13-12 that thou shalt set apart unto Jehovah all that openeth the womb, and every firstling which thou hast that cometh of a beast; the males shall be Jehovah’s. あなたは、すべて初めに胎を開いた者、およびあなたの家畜の産むういごは、ことごとく主にささげなければならない。すなわち、それらの男性のものは主に帰せしめなければならない。
13-13 And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break its neck: and all the first-born of man among thy sons shalt thou redeem. また、すべて、ろばの、初めて胎を開いたものは、小羊をもって、あがなわなければならない。もし、あがなわないならば、その首を折らなければならない。あなたの子らのうち、すべて、男のういごは、あがなわなければならない。
13-14 And it shall be, when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand Jehovah brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage: 後になって、あなたの子が『これはどんな意味ですか』と問うならば、これに言わなければならない、『主が強い手をもって、われわれをエジプトから、奴隷の家から導き出された。
13-15 and it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that Jehovah slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both the first-born of man, and the first-born of beast: therefore I sacrifice to Jehovah all that openeth the womb, being males; but all the first-born of my sons I redeem. そのときパロが、かたくなで、われわれを去らせなかったため、主はエジプトの国のういごを、人のういごも家畜のういごも、ことごとく殺された。それゆえ、初めて胎を開く男性のものはみな、主に犠牲としてささげるが、わたしの子供のうちのういごは、すべてあがなうのである』。
13-16 And it shall be for a sign upon thy hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand Jehovah brought us forth out of Egypt. そして、これを手につけて、しるしとし、目の間に置いて覚えとしなければならない。主が強い手をもって、われわれをエジプトから導き出されたからである」。
13-17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not by the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: さて、パロが民を去らせた時、ペリシテびとの国の道は近かったが、神は彼らをそれに導かれなかった。民が戦いを見れば悔いてエジプトに帰るであろうと、神は思われたからである。
13-18 but God led the people about, by the way of the wilderness by the Red Sea: and the children of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt. 神は紅海に沿う荒野の道に、民を回らされた。イスラエルの人々は武装してエジプトの国を出て、上った。
13-19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you. そのときモーセはヨセフの遺骸を携えていた。ヨセフが、「神は必ずあなたがたを顧みられるであろう。そのとき、あなたがたは、わたしの遺骸を携えて、ここから上って行かなければならない」と言って、イスラエルの人々に固く誓わせたからである。
13-20 And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness. こうして彼らは更にスコテから進んで、荒野の端にあるエタムに宿営した。
13-21 And Jehovah went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, that they might go by day and by night: 主は彼らの前に行かれ、昼は雲の柱をもって彼らを導き、夜は火の柱をもって彼らを照し、昼も夜も彼らを進み行かせられた。
13-22 the pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night, departed not from before the people. 昼は雲の柱、夜は火の柱が、民の前から離れなかった。
