3-1 Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to God’s mountain, to Horeb. モーセは妻の父、ミデヤンの祭司エテロの羊の群れを飼っていたが、その群れを荒野の奥に導いて、神の山ホレブにきた。
3-2 The angel of Yahweh appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. ときに主の使は、しばの中の炎のうちに彼に現れた。彼が見ると、しばは火に燃えているのに、そのしばはなくならなかった。
3-3 Moses said, “I will turn aside now, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.” モーセは言った、「行ってこの大きな見ものを見、なぜしばが燃えてしまわないかを知ろう」。
3-4 When Yahweh saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the midst of the bush, and said, “Moses! Moses!”He said, “Here I am.” 主は彼がきて見定ようとするのを見、神はしばの中から彼を呼んで、「モーセよ、モーセよ」と言われた。彼は「ここにいます」と言った。
3-5 He said, “Don’t come close. Take your sandals off of your feet, for the place you are standing on is holy ground.” 神は言われた、「ここに近づいてはいけない。足からくつを脱ぎなさい。あなたが立っているその場所は聖なる地だからである」。
3-6 Moreover he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.”Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look at God. また言われた、「わたしは、あなたの先祖の神、アブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神である」。モーセは神を見ることを恐れたので顔を隠した。
3-7 Yahweh said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. 主はまた言われた、「わたしは、エジプトにいるわたしの民の悩みを、つぶさに見、また追い使う者のゆえに彼らの叫ぶのを聞いた。わたしは彼らの苦しみを知っている。
3-8 I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. わたしは下って、彼らをエジプトびとの手から救い出し、これをかの地から導き上って、良い広い地、乳と蜜の流れる地、すなわちカナンびと、ヘテびと、アモリびと、ペリジびと、ヒビびと、エブスびとのおる所に至らせようとしている。
3-9 Now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me. Moreover I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. いまイスラエルの人々の叫びがわたしに届いた。わたしはまたエジプトびとが彼らをしえたげる、そのしえたげを見た。
3-10 Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” さあ、わたしは、あなたをパロにつかわして、わたしの民、イスラエルの人々をエジプトから導き出させよう」。
3-11 Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” モーセは神に言った、「わたしは、いったい何者でしょう。わたしがパロのところへ行って、イスラエルの人々をエジプトから導き出すのでしょうか」。
3-12 He said, “Certainly I will be with you. This will be the token to you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.” 神は言われた、「わたしは必ずあなたと共にいる。これが、わたしのあなたをつかわしたしるしである。あなたが民をエジプトから導き出したとき、あなたがたはこの山で神に仕えるであろう」。
3-13 Moses said to God, “Behold, when I come to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you;’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ What should I tell them?” モーセは神に言った、「わたしがイスラエルの人々のところへ行って、彼らに『あなたがたの先祖の神が、わたしをあなたがたのところへつかわされました』と言うとき、彼らが『その名はなんというのですか』とわたしに聞くならば、なんと答えましょうか」。
3-14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM,” and he said, “You shall tell the children of Israel this: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” 神はモーセに言われた、「わたしは、有って有る者」。また言われた、「イスラエルの人々にこう言いなさい、『「わたしは有る」というかたが、わたしをあなたがたのところへつかわされました』と」。
3-15 God said moreover to Moses, “You shall tell the children of Israel this, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations. 神はまたモーセに言われた、「イスラエルの人々にこう言いなさい『あなたがたの先祖の神、アブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神である主が、わたしをあなたがたのところへつかわされました』と。これは永遠にわたしの名、これは世々のわたしの呼び名である。
3-16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and tell them, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt; あなたは行って、イスラエルの長老たちを集めて言いなさい、『あなたがたの先祖の神、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブの神である主は、わたしに現れて言われました、「わたしはあなたがたを顧み、あなたがたがエジプトでされている事を確かに見た。
3-17 and I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”’ それでわたしはあなたがたを、エジプトの悩みから導き出して、カナンびと、ヘテびと、アモリびと、ペリジびと、ヒビびと、エブスびとの地、乳と蜜の流れる地へ携え上ろうと決心した」と』。
3-18 They will listen to your voice, and you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt, and you shall tell him, ‘Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to Yahweh, our God.’ 彼らはあなたの声に聞き従うであろう。あなたはイスラエルの長老たちと一緒にエジプトの王のところへ行って言いなさい、『ヘブルびとの神、主がわたしたちに現れられました。それで、わたしたちを、三日の道のりほど荒野に行かせて、わたしたちの神、主に犠牲をささげることを許してください』と。
3-19 I know that the king of Egypt won’t give you permission to go, no, not by a mighty hand. しかし、エジプトの王は強い手をもって迫らなければ、あなたがたを行かせないのをわたしは知っている。
3-20 I will reach out my hand and strike Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in its midst, and after that he will let you go. それで、わたしは手を伸べて、エジプトのうちに行おうとする、さまざまの不思議をもってエジプトを打とう。その後に彼はあなたがたを去らせるであろう。
3-21 I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, and it will happen that when you go, you shall not go empty-handed. わたしはこの民にエジプトびとの好意を得させる。あなたがたは去るときに、むなし手で去ってはならない。
3-22 But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, and of her who visits her house, jewels of silver, jewels of gold, and clothing; and you shall put them on your sons, and on your daughters. You shall plunder the Egyptians.” 女はみな、その隣の女と、家に宿っている女に、銀の飾り、金の飾り、また衣服を求めなさい。そしてこれらを、あなたがたのむすこ、娘に着けさせなさい。このようにエジプトびとのものを奪い取りなさい」。
