| 14-1 |
Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me. |
ここにイスラエルの長老のうちのある人々が、わたしの所に来て、わたしの前に座した。 |
| 14-2 |
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, |
時に主の言葉が、わたしに臨んだ、 |
| 14-3 |
Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them? |
「人の子よ、これらの人々は、その偶像を心の中に持ち、罪に落しいれるところのつまずきを、その顔の前に置いている。わたしはどうして彼らの願いをいれることができようか。 |
| 14-4 |
Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Every man of the house of Israel that taketh his idols into his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I Jehovah will answer him therein according to the multitude of his idols; |
それゆえ彼らに告げて言え、主なる神は、こう言われる、イスラエルの家の人々で、その偶像を心の中に持ち、その顔の前に罪に落しいれるところのつまずくものを置きながら、預言者のもとに来る者には、その多くの偶像のゆえに、主なるわたしは、みずからこれに答をする。 |

that I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols. |
これはその偶像のために、すべてわたしを離れたイスラエルの家の心を、わたしが捕えるためである。 |
| 14-6 |
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Return ye, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations. |
それゆえイスラエルの家に言え、主なる神はこう言われる、あなたがたは悔いて、あなたがたの偶像を捨てよ。あなたがたの顔を、そのすべての憎むべきものからそむけよ。 |
| 14-7 |
For every one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that separateth himself from me, and taketh his idols into his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet to inquire for himself of me; I Jehovah will answer him by myself: |
イスラエルの家の者およびイスラエルに宿る外国人のだれでも、わたしから離れ、その心に偶像を持ち、その顔の前に罪に落しいれるところのつまずきを置きながら、預言者に来て、心のままにわたしに求めるときは、主であるわたしは、みずからこれに答をする。 |
| 14-8 |
and I will set my face against that man, and will make him an astonishment, for a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. |
わたしはわたしの顔を、その人に向け、彼を、しるし、およびことわざとなし、これをわが民のうちから断ち滅ぼす。その時、あなたがたはわたしが主であることを知るようになる。 |
| 14-9 |
And if the prophet be deceived and speak a word, I, Jehovah, have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. |
もし預言者が欺かれて言葉を出すことがあれば、それは主であるわたしが、その預言者を欺いたのである。わたしは手を彼の上に伸べ、わが民イスラエルのうちから彼を滅ぼす。 |
| 14-10 |
And they shall bear their iniquity: the iniquity of the prophet shall be even as the iniquity of him that seeketh unto him; |
彼らはその罰を負う。その預言者の罰は、問い求める者の罰と同様である。 |
| 14-11 |
that the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither defile themselves any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord Jehovah. |
これはイスラエルの家が、重ねてわたしを離れて迷わず、重ねてそのもろもろのとがによって、おのれを汚さないため、また彼らがわが民となり、わたしが彼らの神となるためであると、主なる神は言われる」。 |
| 14-12 |
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, |
主の言葉が、またわたしに臨んだ、 |
| 14-13 |
Son of man, when a land sinneth against me by committing a trespass, and I stretch out my hand upon it, and break the staff of the bread thereof, and send famine upon it, and cut off from it man and beast; |
「人の子よ、もし国がわたしに、もとりそむいて罪を犯し、わたしがその上に手を伸べて、そのつえとたのむパンを砕き、これにききんを送り、人と獣とをそのうちから断つ時、 |

14 though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord Jehovah. |
たといそこにノア、ダニエル、ヨブの三人がいても、彼らはその義によって、ただ自分の命を救いうるのみであると、主なる神は言われる。 |
| 14-15 |
15 If I cause evil beasts to pass through the land, and they ravage it, and it be made desolate, so that no man may pass through because of the beasts; |
もしわたしが野の獣にこの地を通らせ、これを荒させ、これを荒れ地となし、その獣のためにそこを通る者がないようにしたなら、 |
| 14-16 |
16 though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only should be delivered, but the land should be desolate. |
主なる神は言われる、わたしは生きている、たといこれら三人の者がその中にいても、そのむすこ娘を救うことはできない。ただ自分自身を救いうるのみで、その地は荒れ地となる。 |
| 14-17 |
17 Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off from it man and beast; |
あるいは、わたしがもし、つるぎをその地に臨ませ、つるぎよ、この地を行きめぐれと言って、人と獣とをそこから断つならば、 |
| 14-18 |
18 though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only should be delivered themselves. |
主なる神は言われる、わたしは生きている、たといこれら三人の者がその中にいても、そのむすこ娘を救うことはできない。ただ自分自身を救いうるのみである。 |
| 14-19 |
19 Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my wrath upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast; |
あるいは、わたしがもし、この地に疫病を送り、血をもってわが憤りをその上に注ぎ、人と獣とをそこから断つならば、 |
| 14-20 |
20 though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither son nor daughter; they should but deliver their own souls by their righteousness. |
主なる神は言われる、わたしは生きている、たといノア、ダニエル、ヨブがそこにいても、彼らはそのむすこ娘を救うことができない。ただその義によって自分の命を救いうるのみである。 |
| 14-21 |
21 For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the evil beasts, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast! |
主なる神はこう言われる、わたしが人と獣とを地から断つために、つるぎと、ききんと、悪しき獣と、疫病との四つのきびしい罰をエルサレムに送る時はどうであろうか。 |
| 14-22 |
22 Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be carried forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings; and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it. |
しかし、もしそれがあなたがたに来るとき、むすこ娘たちを助け出す者が、その中に残っていて、あなたがたがその行いと、わざとを見るならば、わたしがエルサレムの上に与えたすべての災について慰められるであろう。 |
| 14-23 |
23 And they shall comfort you, when ye see their way and their doings; and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord Jehovah. |
すなわち、あなたがたが、その行いと、わざとを見る時、彼らはあなたがたを慰め、あなたがたはわたしがこれに行った事は、すべてゆえなくしたのではないことを知るようになると、主なる神は言われる」。 |
