3-1 And he said unto me, Son of man, eat that which thou findest; eat this roll, and go, speak unto the house of Israel. 彼はわたしに言われた。「人の子よ、あなたに与えられたものを食べなさい。この巻物を食べ、行ってイスラエルの家に語りなさい」。
3-2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat the roll. そこでわたしが口を開くと、彼はわたしにその巻物を食べさせた。
3-3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. そして彼はわたしに言われた、「人の子よ、わたしがあなたに与えるこの巻物を食べ、これであなたの腹を満たしなさい」。わたしがそれを食べると、それはわたしの口に甘いこと蜜のようであった。
3-4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them. 彼はまたわたしに言われた、「人の子よ、イスラエルの家に行って、わたしの言葉を語りなさい。
3-5 For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of a hard language, but to the house of Israel; わたしはあなたを、異国語を用い、舌の重い民につかわすのでなく、イスラエルの家につかわすのである。
3-6 not to many peoples of a strange speech and of a hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, if I sent thee to them, they would hearken unto thee. すなわちあなたがその言葉を知らない、異国語の舌の重い多くの民につかわすのではない。もしわたしがあなたをそのような民につかわしたら、彼らはあなたに聞いたであろう。
3-7 But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are of hard forehead and of a stiff heart. しかしイスラエルの家はあなたに聞くのを好まない。彼らはわたしに聞くのを好まないからである。イスラエルの家はすべて厚顔でまた強情である。
3-8 Behold, I have made thy face hard against their faces, and thy forehead hard against their foreheads. 見よ、わたしはあなたの顔を彼らの顔に向かって堅くし、あなたの額を彼らの額に向かって堅くした。
3-9 As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house. わたしはあなたの額を岩よりも堅いダイヤモンドのようにした。ゆえに彼らを恐れてはならない。彼らの顔をはばかってはならない。彼らは反逆の家である」。
3-10 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thy heart, and hear with thine ears. また彼はわたしに言われた、「人の子よ、わたしがあなたに語るすべての言葉をあなたの心におさめ、あなたの耳に聞きなさい。
3-11 And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear. そして捕囚の人々、あなたの民の人々の所へ行って、彼らが聞いても、彼らが拒んでも、『主なる神はこう言われる』と彼らに言いなさい」。
3-12 Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of Jehovah from his place. 時に霊がわたしをもたげた。そして主の栄光がその所からのぼった時、わたしの後に大いなる地震の響きを聞いた。
3-13 And I heard the noise of the wings of the living creatures as they touched one another, and the noise of the wheels beside them, even the noise of a great rushing. それは互に相触れる生きものの翼の音と、そのかたわらの輪の音で、大いなる地震のように響いた。
3-14 So the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away; and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; and the hand of Jehovah was strong upon me. 霊はわたしをもたげ、わたしを取り去ったので、わたしは心を熱くし、苦々しい思いで出て行った。主の手が強くわたしの上にあった。
3-15 Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river Chebar, and to where they dwelt; and I sat there overwhelmed among them seven days. そしてわたしはケバル川のほとりのテルアビブにいる捕囚の人々のもとへ行き、七日の間、驚きあきれて彼らの中に座した。
3-16 And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 七日過ぎて後、主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ、
3-17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. 「人の子よ、わたしはあなたをイスラエルの家のために見守る者とした。あなたはわたしの口から言葉を聞くたびに、わたしに代って彼らを戒めなさい。
3-18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thy hand. わたしが悪人に『あなたは必ず死ぬ』と言うとき、あなたは彼の命を救うために彼を戒めず、また悪人を戒めて、その悪い道から離れるように語らないなら、その悪人は自分の悪のために死ぬ。しかしその血をわたしはあなたの手から求める。
3-19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. しかし、もしあなたが悪人を戒めても、彼がその悪をも、またその悪い道をも離れないなら、彼はその悪のために死ぬ。しかしあなたは自分の命を救う。
3-20 Again, when a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thy hand. また義人がその義にそむき、不義を行うなら、わたしは彼の前に、つまずきを置き、彼は死ぬ。あなたが彼を戒めなかったゆえ、彼はその罪のために死に、その行った義は覚えられない。しかしその血をわたしはあなたの手から求める。
3-21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning; and thou hast delivered thy soul. けれども、もしあなたが義人を戒めて、罪を犯さないように語り、そして彼が罪を犯さないなら、彼は戒めを受けいれたゆえに、その命を保ち、あなたは自分の命を救う」。
3-22 And the hand of Jehovah was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee. その所で主の手がわたしの上に臨み、彼はわたしに言われた、「立って、平野に出て行きなさい。その所でわたしはあなたに語ろう」。
3-23 Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of Jehovah stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell on my face. そこで、わたしは立って平野に出て行った。見よ、主の栄光が、かつてわたしがケバル川のほとりで見た栄光のように、その所に立ち現れたので、わたしはひれ伏した。
3-24 Then the Spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet; and he spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thy house. しかし霊がわたしのうちにはいって、わたしを立ちあがらせ、わたしに語って言った、「行って、あなたの家にこもっていなさい。
3-25 But thou, son of man, behold, they shall lay bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them: 人の子よ、見よ、彼らはあなたの上になわをかけ、それであなたを縛り、あなたを民の中に行かせないようにする。
3-26 and I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover; for they are a rebellious house. わたしはあなたの舌を上あごにつかせ、あなたをおしにして、彼らを戒めることができないようにする。彼らは反逆の家だからである。
3-27 But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house. しかし、わたしがあなたと語るときは、あなたの口を開く。あなたは彼らに『主なる神はこう言われる』と言わなければならない。聞く者は聞くがよい、拒む者は拒むがよい。彼らは反逆の家だからである。
