And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord Jehovah fell there upon me. |
第六年の六月五日にわたしがわたしの家に座し、ユダの長老たちがわたしの前に座していたとき、主なる神の手がわたしの上に下った。 |

Then I beheld, and, lo, a likeness as the appearance of fire; from the appearance of his loins and downward, fire; and from his loins and upward, as the appearance of brightness, as it were glowing metal. |
わたしは見ていると、見よ、人のような形があって、その腰とみられる所から下は火のように見え、腰から上は光る青銅のように輝いて見えた。 |

And he put forth the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the gate of the inner court that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy. |
彼は手のようなものを伸べて、わたしの髪の毛をつかんだ。そして霊がわたしを天と地の間に引きあげ、神の幻のうちにわたしをエルサレムに携えて行き、北に向かった内庭の門の入口に至らせた。そこには、ねたみをひき起すねたみの偶像があった。 |

And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the appearance that I saw in the plain. |
見よ、そこに、わたしがかの平野で見た幻のようなイスラエルの神の栄光があらわれた。 |

Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold, northward of the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry. |
時に彼はわたしに言われた、「人の子よ、目をあげて北の方をのぞめ」。そこでわたしが目をあげて北の方をのぞむと、見よ、祭壇の門の北にあたって、その入口に、このねたみの偶像があった。 |

And he said unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel do commit here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but thou shalt again see yet other great abominations. |
彼はまたわたしに言われた、「人の子よ、あなたは彼らのしていること、すなわちイスラエルの家がここでしている大いなる憎むべきことを見るか。これはわたしを聖所から遠ざけるものである。しかしあなたは、さらに大いなる憎むべきことを見るだろう」。 |

And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold, a hole in the wall. |
そして彼はわたしを庭の門に行かせた。わたしが見ると、見よ、壁に一つの穴があった。 |
| 8-8 |
Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold, a door. |
彼はわたしに言われた、「人の子よ、壁に穴をあけよ」。そこでわたしが壁に穴をあけると、見よ、一つの戸があった。 |
| 8-9 |
And he said unto me, Go in, and see the wicked abominations that they do here. |
彼はわたしに言われた、「はいって、彼らがここでなす所の悪しき憎むべきことを見よ」。 |
| 8-10 |
So I went in and saw; and behold, every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall round about. |
そこでわたしがはいって見ると、もろもろの這うものと、憎むべき獣の形、およびイスラエルの家のもろもろの偶像が、まわりの壁に描いてあった。 |

And there stood before them seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel; and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, every man with his censer in his hand; and the odor of the cloud of incense went up. |
またイスラエルの家の長老七十人が、その前に立っていた。シャパンの子ヤザニヤも、彼らの中に立っていた。おのおの手に香炉を持ち、そしてその香の煙が雲のようにのぼった。 |
| 8-12 |
Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his chambers of imagery? for they say, Jehovah seeth us not; Jehovah hath forsaken the land. |
時に彼はわたしに言われた、「人の子よ、イスラエルの家の長老たちが暗い所で行う事、すなわちおのおのその偶像の室で行う事を見るか。彼らは言う、『主はわれわれを見られない。主はこの地を捨てられた』と」。 |

He said also unto me, Thou shalt again see yet other great abominations which they do. |
またわたしに言われた、「あなたはさらに彼らがなす大いなる憎むべきことを見る」。 |
| 8-14 |
Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Jehovah’s house which was toward the north; and behold, there sat the women weeping for Tammuz. |
そして彼はわたしを連れて主の家の北の門の入口に行った。見よ、そこに女たちがすわって、タンムズのために泣いていた。 |
| 8-15 |
Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? thou shalt again see yet greater abominations than these. |
その時、彼はわたしに言われた、「人の子よ、あなたはこれを見たか。これよりもさらに大いなる憎むべきことを見るだろう」。 |
| 8-16 |
And he brought me into the inner court of Jehovah’s house; and behold, at the door of the temple of Jehovah, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of Jehovah, and their faces toward the east; and they were worshipping the sun toward the east. |
彼はまたわたしを連れて、主の家の内庭にはいった。見よ、主の宮の入口に、廊と祭壇との間に二十五人ばかりの人が、主の宮にその背中を向け、顔を東に向け、東に向かって太陽を拝んでいた。 |
| 8-17 |
Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have turned again to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. |
時に彼はわたしに言われた、「人の子よ、あなたはこれを見たか。ユダの家にとって、彼らがここでしているこれらの憎むべきわざは軽いことであるか。彼らはこの地を暴虐で満たし、さらにわたしを怒らせる。見よ、彼らはその鼻に木の枝を置く。 |

Therefore will I also deal in wrath; mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them. |
それゆえ、わたしも憤って事を行う。わたしの目は彼らを惜しみ見ず、またあわれまない。たとい彼らがわたしの耳に大声で呼ばわっても、わたしは彼らの言うことを聞かない」。 |
