| 14-1 |
And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king
of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim, |
シナルの王アムラペル、エラサルの王アリオク、エラムの王ケダラオメルおよびゴイムの王テダルの世に、 |

that they made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah,
Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela
(the same is Zoar). |
これらの王はソドムの王ベラ、ゴモラの王ビルシャ、アデマの王シナブ、ゼボイムの王セメベル、およびベラすなわちゾアルの王と戦った。 |

All these joined together in the vale of Siddim (the same is the Salt Sea). |
これら五人の王はみな同盟してシデムの谷、すなわち塩の海に向かって行った。 |
| 14-4 |
Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they
rebelled. |
すなわち彼らは十二年の間ケダラオメルに仕えたが、十三年目にそむいたので、 |
| 14-5 |
And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with
him, and smote the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham,
and the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim, |
十四年目にケダラオメルは彼と連合した王たちと共にきて、アシタロテ・カルナイムでレパイムびとを、ハムでズジびとを、シャベ・キリアタイムでエミびとを撃ち、 |

and the Horites in their mount Seir, unto Elparan, which is by the wilderness. |
セイルの山地でホリびとを撃って、荒野のほとりにあるエル・パランに及んだ。 |
| 14-7 |
And they returned, and came to En-mishpat (the same is Kadesh), and smote
all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in
Hazazon-tamar. |
彼らは引き返してエン・ミシパテすなわちカデシへ行って、アマレクびとの国をことごとく撃ち、またハザゾン・タマルに住むアモリびとをも撃った。 |

And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the
king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same
is Zoar); and they set the battle in array against them in the vale of
Siddim; |
そこでソドムの王、ゴモラの王、アデマの王、ゼボイムの王およびベラすなわちゾアルの王は出てシデムの谷で彼らに向かい、戦いの陣をしいた。

against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim, and Amraphel
king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings against the five. |
すなわちエラムの王ケダラオメル、ゴイムの王テダル、シナルの王アムラペル、エラサルの王アリオクの四人の王に対する五人の王であった。 |
| 14-10 |
Now the vale of Siddim was full of slime pits; and the kings of Sodom and
Gomorrah fled, and they fell there, and they that remained fled to the
mountain. |
シデムの谷にはアスファルトの穴が多かったので、ソドムの王とゴモラの王は逃げてそこに落ちたが、残りの者は山にのがれた。 |
| 14-11 |
And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals,
and went their way. |
そこで彼らはソドムとゴモラの財産と食料とをことごとく奪って去り、 |
| 14-12 |
And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and
his goods, and departed. |
またソドムに住んでいたアブラムの弟の子ロトとその財産を奪って去った。 |
| 14-13 |
And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew: now he
dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother
of Aner; and these were confederate with Abram. |
時に、ひとりの人がのがれてきて、ヘブルびとアブラムに告げた。この時アブラムはエシコルの兄弟、またアネルの兄弟であるアモリびとマムレのテレビンの木のかたわらに住んでいた。彼らはアブラムと同盟していた。

And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he led forth his
trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued
as far as Dan |
アブラムは身内の者が捕虜になったのを聞き、訓練した家の子三百十八人を引き連れてダンまで追って行き、 |
| 14-15 |
And he divided himself against them by night, he and his servants, and
smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. |
そのしもべたちを分けて、夜かれらを攻め、これを撃ってダマスコの北、ホバまで彼らを追った。 |
| 14-16 |
And he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his
brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people. |
そして彼はすべての財産を取り返し、また身内の者ロトとその財産および女たちと民とを取り返した。 |
| 14-17 |
And the king of Sodom went out to meet him, after his return from the slaughter
of Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him, at the vale of Shaveh
(the same is the King’s Vale). |
アブラムがケダラオメルとその連合の王たちを撃ち破って帰った時、ソドムの王はシャベの谷、すなわち王の谷に出て彼を迎えた。 |
| 14-18 |
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was
priest of God Most High. |
その時、サレムの王メルキゼデクはパンとぶどう酒とを持ってきた。彼はいと高き神の祭司である。 |
| 14-19 |
he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor
of heaven and earth: |
彼はアブラムを祝福して言った、「願わくは天地の主なるいと高き神が、アブラムを祝福されるように。 |
| 14-20 |
and blessed be God Most High, who hath delivered thine enemies into thy
hand. And he gave him a tenth of all. |
願わくはあなたの敵をあなたの手に渡されたいと高き神があがめられるように」。アブラムは彼にすべての物の十分の一を贈った。 |
| 14-21 |
And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and
take the goods to thyself. |
時にソドムの王はアブラムに言った、「わたしには人をください。財産はあなたが取りなさい」。 |
| 14-22 |
And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand unto Jehovah,
God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth, |
アブラムはソドムの王に言った、「天地の主なるいと高き神、主に手をあげて、わたしは誓います。 |
| 14-23 |
that I will not take a thread nor a shoe-latchet nor aught that is thine,
lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich: |
わたしは糸一本でも、くつひも一本でも、あなたのものは何にも受けません。アブラムを富ませたのはわたしだと、あなたが言わないように。 |
| 14-24 |
save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of
the men that went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. Let them take their portion.
|
ただし若者たちがすでに食べた物は別です。そしてわたしと共に行った人々アネルとエシコルとマムレとにはその分を取らせなさい」。 |
