| 25-1 |
And Abraham took another wife, and her name was Keturah. |
アブラハムは再び妻をめとった。名をケトラという。 |

And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak,
and Shuah. |
彼女はジムラン、ヨクシャン、メダン、ミデアン、イシバクおよびシュワを産んだ。 |
| 25-3 |
And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were
Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim. |
ヨクシャンの子はシバとデダン。デダンの子孫はアシュリびと、レトシびと、レウミびとである。 |
| 25-4 |
And the sons of Midian: Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah.
All these were the children of Keturah. |
の子孫はエパ、エペル、ヘノク、アビダ、エルダアであって、これらは皆ケトラの子孫であった。 |
| 25-5 |
And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac. |
アブラハムはその所有をことごとくイサクに与えた。 |
| 25-6 |
But unto the sons of the concubines, that Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts.
And he sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward,
unto the east country. |
またそのそばめたちの子らにもアブラハムは物を与え、なお生きている間に彼らをその子イサクから離して、東の方、東の国に移らせた。 |

And these are the days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived, a
hundred threescore and fifteen years. |
アブラハムの生きながらえた年は百七十五年である。 |
| 25-8 |
And Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old
man, and full of years, and was gathered to his people. |
アブラハムは高齢に達し、老人となり、年が満ちて息絶え、死んでその民に加えられた。 |
| 25-9 |
And Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in
the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre. |
その子イサクとイシマエルは彼をヘテびとゾハルの子エフロンの畑にあるマクペラのほら穴に葬った。これはマムレの向かいにあり、 |

The field which Abraham purchased of the children of Heth. There was Abraham
buried, and Sarah his wife. |
アブラハムがヘテの人々から、買い取った畑であって、そこにアブラハムとその妻サラが葬られた。 |
| 25-11 |
And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed
Isaac his son. And Isaac dwelt by Beer-lahai-roi. |
が死んだ後、神はその子イサクを祝福された。イサクはベエル・ラハイ・ロイのほとりに住んだ。 |
| 25-12 |
Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom Hagar the
Egyptian, Sarah’s handmaid, bare unto Abraham. |

And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according
to their generations: the first-born of Ishmael, Nebaioth, and Kedar, and
Adbeel, and Mibsam, |

Hadad, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. |
ハダデ、テマ、エトル、ネフシ、ケデマ。 |
| 25-16 |
These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their villages,
and by their encampments. Twelve princes according to their nations. |
これはイシマエルの子らであり、村と宿営とによる名であって、その氏族による十二人の君たちである。 |
| 25-17 |
And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty and
seven years. And he gave up the ghost and died, and was gathered unto his
people. |
のよわいは百三十七年である。彼は息絶えて死に、その民に加えられた。 |
| 25-18 |
And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur that is before Egypt, as
thou goest toward Assyria. He abode over against all his brethren. |
イシマエルの子らはハビラからエジプトの東、シュルまでの間に住んで、アシュルに及んだ。イシマエルはすべての兄弟の東に住んだ。 |

And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son. Abraham
begat Isaac. |
アブラハムの子イサクの系図は次のとおりである。アブラハムの子はイサクであって、 |

And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel
the Syrian of Paddan-aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian, to be his wife. |
は四十歳の時、パダンアラムのアラムびとベトエルの娘で、アラムびとラバンの妹リベカを妻にめとった。 |
| 25-21 |
And Isaac entreated Jehovah for his wife, because she was barren. And Jehovah
was entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. |
イサクは妻が子を産まなかったので、妻のために主に祈り願った。主はその願いを聞かれ、妻リベカはみごもった。 |
| 25-22 |
And the children struggled together within her. And she said, If it be
so, wherefore do I live? And she went to inquire of Jehovah. |
ところがその子らが胎内で押し合ったので、リベカは言った、「こんなことでは、わたしはどうなるでしょう」。彼女は行って主に尋ねた。 |
| 25-23 |
And Jehovah said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, And two peoples shall be separated from thy
bowels. And the one people shall be stronger than the other people. And
the elder shall serve the younger. |
主は彼女に言われた、「二つの国民があなたの胎内にあり、二つの民があなたの腹から別れて出る。一つの民は他の民よりも強く、兄は弟に仕えるであろう」。

And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins
in her womb. |
彼女の出産の日がきたとき、胎内にはふたごがあった。 |

And the first came forth red, all over like a hairy garment. And
they called his name Esau. |
さきに出たのは赤くて全身毛ごろものようであった。それで名をエサウと名づけた。 |
| 25-26 |
And after that came forth his brother, and his hand had hold on
Esau’s heel. And his name was called Jacob. And Isaac was threescore years old
when she bare them. |
さきに出たのは赤くて全身毛ごろものようであった。それで名をエサウと名づけた。 |
| 25-27 |
And the boys grew. And Esau was a skilful hunter, a man of the field. And
Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in tents. |
さてその子らは成長し、エサウは巧みな狩猟者となり、野の人となったが、ヤコブは穏やかな人で、天幕に住んでいた。 |
| 25-28 |
Now Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison. And Rebekah loved
Jacob. |
イサクは、しかの肉が好きだったので、エサウを愛したが、リベカはヤコブを愛した。 |
| 25-29 |
And Jacob boiled pottage. And Esau came in from the field, and he was faint. |
ある日ヤコブが、あつものを煮ていた時、エサウは飢え疲れて野から帰ってきた。 |
| 25-30 |
And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red
pottage. For I am faint. Therefore was his name called Edom. |
エサウはヤコブに言った、「わたしは飢え疲れた。お願いだ。赤いもの、その赤いものをわたしに食べさせてくれ」。彼が名をエドムと呼ばれたのはこのためである。 |

And Jacob said, Sell me first thy birthright. |
ヤコブは言った、「まずあなたの長子の特権をわたしに売りなさい」。 |
| 25-32 |
And Esau said, Behold, I am about to die. And what profit shall
the birthright do to me? |
エサウは言った、「わたしは死にそうだ。長子の特権などわたしに何になろう」。 |
| 25-33 |
And Jacob said, Swear to me first. And he sware unto him. And he sold his
birthright unto Jacob. |
ヤコブはまた言った、「まずわたしに誓いなさい」。彼は誓って長子の特権をヤコブに売った。 |
| 25-34 |
And Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils. And he did eat
and drink, and rose up, and went his way. So Esau despised his birthright. |
そこでヤコブはパンとレンズ豆のあつものとをエサウに与えたので、彼は飲み食いして、立ち去った。このようにしてエサウは長子の特権を軽んじた。 |
