| 28-1 |
And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan. . |
イサクはヤコブを呼んで、これを祝福し、命じて言った、「あなたはカナンの娘を妻にめとってはならない。 |
| 28-2 |
Arise, go to Paddan-aram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother’s father. And take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother’s brother. |
立ってパダンアラムへ行き、あなたの母の父ベトエルの家に行って、そこであなたの母の兄ラバンの娘を妻にめとりなさい。 |
| 28-3 |
And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a company of peoples. |
全能の神が、あなたを祝福し、多くの子を得させ、かつふえさせて、多くの国民とし、 |
| 28-4 |
And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee. That thou mayest inherit the land of thy sojournings, which God gave unto Abraham. |
またアブラハムの祝福をあなたと子孫とに与えて、神がアブラハムに授けられたあなたの寄留の地を継がせてくださるように」。 |
| 28-5 |
And Isaac sent away Jacob. And he went to Paddan-aram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob’s and Esau’s mother |
こうしてイサクはヤコブを送り出した。ヤコブはパダンアラムに向かい、アラムびとベトエルの子で、ヤコブとエサウとの母リベカの兄ラバンのもとへ行った。 |
| 28-6 |
Now Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Paddan-aram, to take him a wife from thence. And that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan. |
さてエサウは、イサクがヤコブを祝福して、パダンアラムにつかわし、そこから妻をめとらせようとしたこと、彼を祝福し、命じて「あなたはカナンの娘を妻にめとってはならない」と言ったこと、 |
| 28-7 |
And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Paddan-aram. |
そしてヤコブが父母の言葉に従って、パダンアラムへ行ったことを知ったとき、 |
| 28-8 |
And Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father. |
彼はカナンの娘が父イサクの心にかなわないのを見た。 |
| 28-9 |
And Esau went unto Ishmael, and took, besides the wives that he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebaioth, to be his wife. |
そこでエサウはイシマエルの所に行き、すでにある妻たちのほかにアブラハムの子イシマエルの娘で、ネバヨテの妹マハラテを妻にめとった。 |
| 28-10 |
And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran. |
さてヤコブはベエルシバを立って、ハランへ向かったが、 |
| 28-11 |
And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set. And he took one of the stones of the place, and put it under his head, and lay down in that place to sleep. |
一つの所に着いた時、日が暮れたので、そこに一夜を過ごし、その所の石を取ってまくらとし、そこに伏して寝た。 |
| 28-12 |
And he dreamed. And behold, a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, the angels of God ascending and descending on it. |
時に彼は夢をみた。一つのはしごが地の上に立っていて、その頂は天に達し、神の使たちがそれを上り下りしているのを見た。 |
| 28-13 |
And, behold, Jehovah stood above it, and said, I am Jehovah, the God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac. The land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed. |
そして主は彼のそばに立って言われた、「わたしはあなたの父アブラハムの神、イサクの神、主である。あなたが伏している地を、あなたと子孫とに与えよう。 |
| 28-14 |
And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south. And in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. |
あなたの子孫は地のちりのように多くなって、西、東、北、南にひろがり、地の諸族はあなたと子孫とによって祝福をうけるであろう。 |
| 28-15 |
And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee, whithersoever thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land. For I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of. |
わたしはあなたと共にいて、あなたがどこへ行くにもあなたを守り、あなたをこの地に連れ帰るであろう。わたしは決してあなたを捨てず、あなたに語った事を行うであろう」。 |
| 28-16 |
And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely Jehovah is in this place. And I knew it not. |
ヤコブは眠りからさめて言った、「まことに主がこの所におられるのに、わたしは知らなかった」。 |
| 28-17 |
And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. |
そして彼は恐れて言った、「これはなんという恐るべき所だろう。これは神の家である。これは天の門だ」。 |
| 28-18 |
And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. |
ヤコブは朝はやく起きて、まくらとしていた石を取り、それを立てて柱とし、その頂に油を注いで、 |
| 28-19 |
And he called the name of that place Beth-el. But the name of the city was Luz at the first. |
その所の名をベテルと名づけた。その町の名は初めはルズといった。 |
| 28-20 |
And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, |
ヤコブは誓いを立てて言った、「神がわたしと共にいまし、わたしの行くこの道でわたしを守り、食べるパンと着る着物を賜い、 |
| 28-21 |
so that I come again to my father’s house in peace, and Jehovah will be my God, |
安らかに父の家に帰らせてくださるなら、主をわたしの神といたしましょう。 |
| 28-22 |
then this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God’s house. And of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee. |
またわたしが柱に立てたこの石を神の家といたしましょう。そしてあなたがくださるすべての物の十分の一を、わたしは必ずあなたにささげます」。 |
