And Jacob called unto his sons, and said: gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the latter days. |
ヤコブはその子らを呼んで言った、「集まりなさい。後の日に、あなたがたの上に起ることを、告げましょう、 |

Assemble yourselves, and hear, ye sons of Jacob;And hearken unto Israel your father. |
ヤコブの子らよ、集まって聞け。父イスラエルのことばを聞け。 |
| 49-3 |
Reuben, thou art my first-born, my might, and the beginning of my strength;The pre-eminence of dignity, and the pre-eminence of power. |
ルベンよ、あなたはわが長子、わが勢い、わが力のはじめ、威光のすぐれた者、権力のすぐれた者。 |
| 49-4 |
Boiling over as water, thou shalt not have the pre-eminence;Because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed;Then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch. |
しかし、沸き立つ水のようだから、もはや、すぐれた者ではあり得ない。あなたは父の床に上って汚した。ああ、あなたはわが寝床に上った。 |
| 49-5 |
Simeon and Levi are brethren;Weapons of violence are their swords. |
シメオンとレビとは兄弟。彼らのつるぎは暴虐の武器。 |
| 49-6 |
O my soul, come not thou into their council;Unto their assembly, my glory, be not thou united;For in their anger they slew a man,And in their self-will they hocked an ox. |
わが魂よ、彼らの会議に臨むな。わが栄えよ、彼らのつどいに連なるな。彼らは怒りに任せて人を殺し、 |

Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce;I will divide them in Jacob,And scatter them in Israel. |
彼らの怒りは、激しいゆえにのろわれ、彼らの憤りは、はなはだしいゆえにのろわれる。わたしは彼らをヤコブのうちに分け、イスラエルのうちに散らそう。 |

Judah, thee shall thy brethren praise:Thy hand shall be on the neck of thine enemies;Thy father’s sons shall bow down before thee. |
ユダよ、兄弟たちはあなたをほめる。あなたの手は敵のくびを押え、父の子らはあなたの前に身をかがめるであろう。 |
| 49-9 |
Judah is a lion’s whelp;From the prey, my son, thou art gone up:He stooped down, he couched as a lion,And as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? |
ユダは、ししの子。わが子よ、あなたは獲物をもって上って来る。彼は雄じしのようにうずくまり、雌じしのように身を伏せる。だれがこれを起すことができよう。 |

The sceptre shall not depart from Judah,Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet,And unto him shall the obedience of the peoples be. |
つえはユダを離れず、立法者のつえはその足の間を離れることなく、シロの来る時までに及ぶであろう。もろもろの民は彼に従う。 |
| 49-11 |
Binding his foal unto the vine,And his ass’s colt unto the choice vine;He hath washed his garments in wine,And his vesture in the blood of grapes: |
彼はそのろばの子をぶどうの木につなぎ、その雌ろばの子を良きぶどうの木につなぐ。彼はその衣服をぶどう酒で洗い、その着物をぶどうの汁で洗うであろう。 |

His eyes shall be red with wine,And his teeth white with milk. |
その目はぶどう酒によって赤く、その歯は乳によって白い。 |
| 49-13 |
Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea;And he shall be for a haven of ships;And his border shall be upon Sidon. |
ゼブルンは海べに住み、舟の泊まる港となって、舟の泊まる港となって、その境はシドンに及ぶであろう。 |
| 49-14 |
Issachar is a strong ass,Couching down between the sheepfolds: |

And he saw a resting-place that it was good,And the land that it was pleasant;And he bowed his shoulder to bear,And became a servant under taskwork. |

Dan shall judge his people,As one of the tribes of Israel. |
ダンはおのれの民をさばくであろう、イスラエルのほかの部族のように。 |

Dan shall be a serpent in the way,An adder in the path,That biteth the horse’s heels,So that his rider falleth backward. |
ダンは道のかたわらのへび、道のほとりのまむし。道のほとりのまむし。馬のかかとをかんで、乗る者をうしろに落すであろう。 |
| 49-18 |
I have waited for thy salvation, O Jehovah. |
主よ、わたしはあなたの救を待ち望む。 |
| 49-19 |
Gad, a troop shall press upon him;But he shall press upon their heel. |
ガドには略奪者が迫る。しかし彼はかえって敵のかかとに迫るであろう。 |
| 49-20 |
Out of the Asher his bread shall be fat,And he shall yield royal dainties. |
アセルはその食物がゆたかで、王の美味をいだすであろう。 |
| 49-21 |
Naphtali is a hind let loose:He giveth goodly words. |
ナフタリは放たれた雌じか、彼は美しい子じかを生むであろう。 |
| 49-22 |
Joseph is a fruitful bough,A fruitful bough by a fountain;His branches run over the wall. |
ヨセフは実を結ぶ若木、泉のほとりの実を結ぶ若木。その枝は、かきねを越えるであろう。 |

The archers have sorely grieved him,And shot at him, and persecute him: |
射る者は彼を激しく攻め、彼を射、彼をいたく悩ました。 |

But his bow abode in strength,And the arms of his hands were made strong,By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob,(From thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel), |
しかし彼の弓はなお強く、彼の腕は素早い。これはヤコブの全能者の手により、イスラエルの岩なる牧者の名により、 |

Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee,And by the Almighty, who shall bless thee,With blessings of heaven above,Blessings of the deep that coucheth beneath,Blessings of the breasts, and of the womb. |
あなたを助ける父の神により、また上なる天の祝福、下に横たわる淵の祝福、乳ぶさと胎の祝福をもって、あなたを恵まれる全能者による。 |
| 49-26 |
The blessings of thy fatherHave prevailed above the blessings of my progenitorsUnto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills:They shall be on the head of Joseph,And on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren. |
あなたの父の祝福は永遠の山の祝福にまさり、永久の丘の賜物にまさる。永久の丘の賜物にまさる。これらの祝福はヨセフのかしらに帰し、その兄弟たちの君たる者の頭の頂に帰する。 |

Benjamin is a wolf that raveneth:In the morning she shall devour the prey,And at even he shall divide the spoil. |
ベニヤミンはかき裂くおおかみ、朝にその獲物を食らい、夕にその分捕物を分けるであろう」。 |
| 49-28 |
All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them. |
すべてこれらはイスラエルの十二の部族である。そしてこれは彼らの父が彼らに語り、彼らを祝福したもので、彼は祝福すべきところに従って、彼らおのおのを祝福した。 |

And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, |

in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a burying-place. |
そのほら穴はカナンの地のマムレの東にあるマクペラの畑にあり、アブラハムがヘテびとエフロンから畑と共に買い取り、所有の墓地としたもので、 |

there they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah: |
そこにアブラハムと妻サラとが葬られ、イサクと妻リベカもそこに葬られたが、わたしはまたそこにレアを葬った。 |
| 49-32 |
the field and the cave that is therein, which was purchased from the children of Heth. |
あの畑とその中にあるほら穴とはヘテの人々から買ったものです」。 |
| 49-33 |
And when Jacob made an end of charging his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people. |
こうしてヤコブは子らに命じ終って、足を床におさめ、息絶えて、その民に加えられた。 |
