And Joseph fell upon his father’s face, and wept upon him, and kissed him. |
ヨセフは父の顔に伏して泣き、口づけした。 |

And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father:
and the physicians embalmed Israel. |
そしてヨセフは彼のしもべである医者たちに、父に薬を塗ることを命じたので、医者たちはイスラエルに薬を塗った。 |
| 50-3 |
And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of embalming: and the Egyptians wept for him three-score and ten days. |
このために四十日を費した。薬を塗るにはこれほどの日数を要するのである。エジプトびとは七十日の間、彼のために泣いた。 |
| 50-4 |
And when the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found favor in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying, |
彼のために泣く日が過ぎて、ヨセフはパロの家の者に言った、「今もしわたしがあなたがたの前に恵みを得るなら、どうかパロに伝えてください。 |

My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again. |
『わたしの父はわたしに誓わせて言いました「わたしはやがて死にます。カナンの地に、わたしが掘って置いた墓に葬ってください」。それで、どうかわたしを上って行かせ、父を葬らせてください。そうすれば、わたしはまた帰ってきます』」。 |

And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee swear. |
パロは言った、「あなたの父があなたに誓わせたように上って行って彼を葬りなさい」。 |
| 50-7 |
And Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt, |
そこでヨセフは父を葬るために上って行った。彼と共に上った者はパロのもろもろの家来たち、パロの家の長老たち、エジプトの国のもろもろの長老たち、 |

and all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father’s house: only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen. |
ヨセフの全家とその兄弟たち及びその父の家族であった。ただ子供と羊と牛はゴセンの地に残した。 |
| 50-9 |
And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a very great company. |
また戦車と騎兵も彼と共に上ったので、その行列はたいそう盛んであった。 |
| 50-10 |
And they came to the threshing-floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, and there they lamented with a very great and sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days. |
彼らはヨルダンの向こうのアタデの打ち場に行き着いて、そこで大いに嘆き、非常に悲しんだ。そしてヨセフは七日の間父のために嘆いた。 |

And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan. |
その地の住民、カナンびとがアタデの打ち場の嘆きを見て、「これはエジプトびとの大いなる嘆きだ」と言ったので、その所の名はアベル・ミツライムと呼ばれた。これはヨルダンの向こうにある。 |

And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them: |
ヤコブの子らは命じられたようにヤコブにおこなった。 |
| 50-13 |
for his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, for a possession of a burying-place, of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre. |
すなわちその子らは彼をカナンの地へ運んで行って、マクペラの畑のほら穴に葬った。このほら穴はマムレの東にあって、アブラハムがヘテびとエフロンから畑と共に買って、所有の墓地としたものである。 |

And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father. |
ヨセフは父を葬った後、その兄弟たち及びすべて父を葬るために一緒に上った者と共にエジプトに帰った。 |
| 50-15 |
And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, It may be that Joseph will hate us, and will fully requite us all the evil which we did unto him. |
ヨセフの兄弟たちは父の死んだのを見て言った、「ヨセフはことによるとわれわれを憎んで、われわれが彼にしたすべての悪に、仕返しするに違いない」。 |

And they sent a message unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying, |
そこで彼らはことづけしてヨセフに言った、「あなたの父は死ぬ前に命じて言われました、 |

So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the transgression of thy brethren, and their sin, for that they did unto thee evil. And now, we pray thee, forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him. |
『おまえたちはヨセフに言いなさい、「あなたの兄弟たちはあなたに悪をおこなったが、どうかそのとがと罪をゆるしてやってください」』。今どうかあなたの父の神に仕えるしもべらのとがをゆるしてください」。ヨセフはこの言葉を聞いて泣いた。 |
| 50-18 |
And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we are thy servants. |
やがて兄弟たちもきて、彼の前に伏して言った、「このとおり、わたしたちはあなたのしもべです」。 |
| 50-19 |
And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? |
ヨセフは彼らに言った、「恐れることはいりません。わたしが神に代ることができましょうか。 |
| 50-20 |
And as for you, ye meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. |
あなたがたはわたしに対して悪をたくらんだが、神はそれを良きに変らせて、今日のように多くの民の命を救おうと計らわれました。 |
| 50-21 |
Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them. |
それゆえ恐れることはいりません。わたしはあなたがたとあなたがたの子供たちを養いましょう」。彼は彼らを慰めて、親切に語った。 |
| 50-22 |
And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father’s house: and Joseph lived a hundred and ten years. |
このようにしてヨセフは父の家族と共にエジプトに住んだ。そしてヨセフは百十年生きながらえた。 |
| 50-23 |
And Joseph saw Ephraim’s children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were born upon Joseph’s knees. |
ヨセフはエフライムの三代の子孫を見た。マナセの子マキルの子らも生れてヨセフのひざの上に置かれた。 |
| 50-24 |
50:24 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die; but God will surely visit you, and bring you up out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. |
ヨセフは兄弟たちに言った、「わたしはやがて死にます。神は必ずあなたがたを顧みて、この国から連れ出し、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブに誓われた地に導き上られるでしょう」。 |
| 50-25 |
And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence. |
さらにヨセフは、「神は必ずあなたがたを顧みられる。その時、あなたがたはわたしの骨をここから携え上りなさい」と言ってイスラエルの子らに誓わせた。 |

So Joseph died, being a hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt. |
こうしてヨセフは百十歳で死んだ。彼らはこれに薬を塗り、棺に納めて、エジプトに置いた。 |
