Israel is a luxuriant vine, that putteth forth his fruit: according to the abundance of his fruit he hath multiplied his altars; according to the goodness of their land they have made goodly pillars. |
イスラエルは実を結ぶ茂ったぶどうの木である。その実を多く結ぶにしたがって、祭壇を増し、その地の豊かなるにしたがって、柱の像を麗しくした。 |

Their heart is divided; now shall they be found guilty: he will smite their altars, he will destroy their pillars. |
彼らの心は偽りである。今、彼らはその罪を負わなければならない。主はその祭壇をこわし、その柱の像を砕かれる。 |

Surely now shall they say, We have no king; for we fear not Jehovah; and
the king, what can he do for us? |
今、彼らは言う、「われわれは主を恐れないので、われわれには王がない。王はわれわれのために何をなしえようか」と。 |

They speak vain words, swearing falsely in making covenants: therefore judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field. |
彼らはむなしき言葉をいだし、偽りの誓いをもって契約を結ぶ。それゆえ、さばきは畑のうねの毒草のように現れる。 |

The inhabitants of Samaria shall be in terror for the calves of Beth-aven; for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced over it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it. |
サマリヤの住民は、ベテアベンの子牛のためにおののき、その民はこれがために嘆き、その偶像に仕える祭司たちは、その栄光のうせたるがために泣き悲しむ。 |

It also shall be carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel. |
その子牛はアッスリヤに携えられ、礼物として大王にささげられ、エフライムは恥をうけ、イスラエルはおのれの偶像を恥じる。 |

As for Samaria, her king is cut off, as foam upon the water. |
サマリヤの王は、水のおもての木切れのように滅ぼされる。 |
| 10-8 |
The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us. |
イスラエルの罪であるアベンの高き所も滅び、いばらとあざみがその祭壇の上にはえ茂る。その時彼らは山に向かって、「われわれをおおえ」と言い、丘に向かって「われわれの上に倒れよ」と言う。丘に向かって「われわれの上に倒れよ」と言う。 |

O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood; the battle against the children of iniquity doth not overtake them in Gibeah. |
イスラエルよ、あなたはギベアの日からこのかた罪を犯した。彼らはその所に立っていた。戦いはギベアにおる彼らに及ばないであろうか。 |

When it is my desire, I will chastise them; and the peoples shall be gathered against them, when they are bound to their two transgressions. |
わたしは来てよこしまな民を攻め、これを懲らしめる。彼らがその二つの罪のために懲しめられるとき、もろもろの民は集まって彼らを攻める。 |

And Ephraim is a heifer that is taught, that loveth to tread out the grain; but I have passed over upon her fair neck: I will set a rider on Ephraim; Judah shall plow, Jacob shall break his clods. |
エフライムはならされた若い雌牛であって、穀物を踏むことを好む。わたしはその麗しい首を惜しんだ。しかし、わたしはエフライムにくびきをかける。ユダは耕し、ヤコブは自分のために、まぐわをひかねばならない。 |

Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap according to kindness; break up your fallow ground; for it is time to seek Jehovah, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. |
あなたがたは自分のために正義をまき、いつくしみの実を刈り取り、あなたがたの新田を耕せ。今は主を求むべき時である。主は来て救いを雨のように、あなたがたに降りそそがれる。 |
| 10-13 |
Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies; for thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men. |
あなたがたは悪を耕し、不義を刈りおさめ、偽りの実を食べた。これはあなたがたが自分の戦車を頼み、勇士の多いことを頼んだためである。 |
| 10-14 |
Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces with her children. |
それゆえ、あなたがたの民の中にいくさの騒ぎが起り、シャルマンが戦いの日にベテ・アルベルを打ち破ったように、あなたがたの城はことごとく打ち破られる。母らはその子らと共に打ち砕かれた。 |

So shall Beth-el do unto you because of your great wickedness: at daybreak shall the king of Israel be utterly cut off. |
イスラエルの家よ、あなたがたの大いなる悪のゆえに、このように、あなたがたにも行われ、イスラエルの王は、あらしの中に全く滅ぼされる。 |
