| 15-1 |
But it came to pass after a while, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in. |
日がたって後、麦刈の時にサムソンは子やぎを携えて妻をおとずれ、「へやにはいって、妻に会いましょう」と言ったが、妻の父ははいることを許さなかった。 |

And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her. |
そして父は言った、「あなたが確かに彼女をきらったに相違ないと思ったので、わたしは彼女をあなたの客であった者にやりました。彼女の妹は彼女よりもきれいではありませんか。どうぞ、彼女の代りに妹をめとってください」。 |

And Samson said unto them, This time shall I be blameless in regard of the Philistines, when I do them a mischief. |
サムソンは彼らに言った、「今度はわたしがペリシテびとに害を加えても、彼らのことでは、わたしに罪がない」。 |
| 15-4 |
And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between every two tails. |
そこでサムソンは行って、きつね三百匹を捕え、たいまつをとり、尾と尾をあわせて、その二つの尾の間に一つのたいまつを結びつけ、 |

And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks and the standing grain, and also the oliveyards. |
たいまつに火をつけて、そのきつねをペリシテびとのまだ刈らない麦の中に放し入れ、そのたばね積んだものと、まだ刈らないものとを焼き、オリブ畑をも焼いた。 |

Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they said, Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he hath taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire. |
ペリシテびとは言った、「これはだれのしわざか」。人々は言った、「テムナびとの婿サムソンだ。そのしゅうとがサムソンの妻を取り返して、その客であった者に与えたからだ」。そこでペリシテびとは上ってきて彼女とその父の家を火で焼き払った。 |

And Samson said unto them, If ye do after this manner, surely I will be avenged of you, and after that I will cease. |
サムソンは彼らに言った、「あなたがたがそんなことをするならば、わたしはあなたがたに仕返しせずにはおかない」。 |
| 15-8 |
And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the cleft of the rock of Etam. |
そしてサムソンは彼らを、さんざんに撃って大ぜい殺した。こうしてサムソンは下って行って、エタムの岩の裂け目に住んでいた。 |
| 15-9 |
Then the Philistines went up, and encamped in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi. |
そこでペリシテびとは上ってきて、ユダに陣を取り、レヒを攻めたので、 |
| 15-10 |
And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they said, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us. |
ユダの人々は言った、「あなたがたはどうしてわれわれのところに攻めのぼってきたのですか」。彼らは言った、「われわれはサムソンを縛り、彼がわれわれにしたように、彼にするために上ってきたのです」。 |
| 15-11 |
Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what then is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them. |
そこでユダの人々三千人がエタムの岩の裂け目に下って行って、サムソンに言った、「ペリシテびとはわれわれの支配者であることをあなたは知らないのですか。あなたはどうしてわれわれにこんな事をしたのですか」。サムソンは彼らに言った、「彼らがわたしにしたように、わたしは彼らにしたのです」。 |
| 15-12 |
And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves. |
彼らはまたサムソンに言った、「われわれはあなたを縛って、ペリシテびとの手にわたすために下ってきたのです」。サムソンは彼らに言った、「あなたがた自身はわたしを撃たないということを誓いなさい」。 |
| 15-13 |
And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new ropes, and brought him up from the rock. |
彼らはサムソンに言った、「いや、われわれはただ、あなたを縛って、ペリシテびとの手にわたすだけです。決してあなたを殺しません」。彼らは二本の新しい綱をもって彼を縛って、岩からひきあげた。 |
| 15-14 |
When he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him: and the Spirit of Jehovah came mightily upon him, and the ropes that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands dropped from off his hands. |
サムソンがレヒにきたとき、ペリシテびとは声をあげて、彼に近づいた。その時、主の霊が激しく彼に臨んだので、彼の腕にかかっていた綱は火に焼けた亜麻のようになって、そのなわめが手から解けて落ちた。 |

And he found a fresh jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and smote a thousand men therewith. |
彼はろばの新しいあご骨一つを見つけたので、手を伸べて取り、それをもって一千人を打ち殺した。 |
| 15-16 |
And Samson said,With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps,With the jawbone of an ass have I smitten a thousand men. |
そしてサムソンは言った、「ろばのあご骨をもって山また山を築き、ろばのあご骨をもって一千人を打ち殺した」。 |
| 15-17 |
And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand; and that place was called Ramath-lehi. |
彼は言い終ると、その手からあご骨を投げすてた。これがためにその所は「あご骨の丘」と呼ばれた。 |
| 15-18 |
And he was sore athirst, and called on Jehovah, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance by the hand of thy servant; and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised. |
時に彼はひどくかわきを覚えたので、主に呼ばわって言った、「あなたはしもべの手をもって、この大きな救を施されたのに、わたしは今、かわいて死に、割礼をうけないものの手に陥ろうとしています」。 |
| 15-19 |
But God clave the hollow place that is in Lehi, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore the name thereof was called En-hakkore, which is in Lehi, unto this day. |
そこで神はレヒにあるくぼんだ所を裂かれたので、そこから水が流れ出た。サムソンがそれを飲むと彼の霊はもとにかえって元気づいた。それでその名を「呼ばわった者の泉」と呼んだ。これは今日までレヒにある。 |
| 15-20 |
And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years. |
サムソンはペリシテびとの時代に二十年の間イスラエルをさばいた。 |
