13-1 And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of Jehovah unto Beth-el: and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense. 見よ、神の人が主の命によってユダからベテルにきた。その時ヤラベアムは祭壇の上に立って香をたいていた。
13-2 And he cried against the altar by the word of Jehovah, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith Jehovah: Behold, a son shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he sacrifice the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall they burn upon thee. 神の人は祭壇にむかい主の命によって呼ばわって言った、「祭壇よ、祭壇よ、主はこう仰せられる、『見よ、ダビデの家にひとりの子が生れる。その名をヨシヤという。彼はおまえの上で香をたく高き所の祭司らを、おまえの上にささげる。また人の骨がおまえの上で焼かれる』」。
13-3 And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which Jehovah hath spoken: Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out. その日、彼はまた一つのしるしを示して言った、「主の言われたしるしはこれである、『見よ、祭壇は裂け、その上にある灰はこぼれ出るであろう』」。
13-4 And it came to pass, when the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Beth-el, that Jeroboam put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to him. ヤラベアム王は、神の人がベテルにある祭壇にむかって呼ばわる言葉を聞いた時、祭壇から手を伸ばして、「彼を捕えよ」と言ったが、彼にむかって伸ばした手が枯れて、ひっ込めることができなかった。
13-5 The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of Jehovah. そして神の人が主の言葉をもって示したしるしのように祭壇は裂け、灰は祭壇からこぼれ出た。
13-6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Entreat now the favor of Jehovah thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God entreated Jehovah, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before. 王は神の人に言った、「あなたの神、主に願い、わたしのために祈って、わたしの手をもとに返らせてください」。神の人が主に願ったので、王の手はもとに返って、前のようになった。
13-7 And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward. そこで王は神の人に言った、「わたしと一緒に家にきて、身を休めなさい。あなたに謝礼をさしあげましょう」。
13-8 And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thy house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place; 神の人は王に言った、「たとい、あなたの家の半ばをくださっても、わたしはあなたと一緒にまいりません。またこの所では、パンも食べず水も飲みません。
13-9 for so was it charged me by the word of Jehovah, saying, Thou shalt eat no bread, nor drink water, neither return by the way that thou camest. 主の言葉によってわたしは、『パンを食べてはならない、水を飲んではならない。また来た道から帰ってはならない』と命じられているからです」。 13:10こうして彼はほかの道を行き、ベテルに来た道からは帰らなかった。
13-10 So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el. こうして彼はほかの道を行き、ベテルに来た道からは帰らなかった。
13-11 Now there dwelt an old prophet in Beth-el; and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them also they told unto their father. さてベテルにひとりの年老いた預言者が住んでいたが、そのむすこたちがきて、その日神の人がベテルでした事どもを彼に話した。また神の人が王に言った言葉をもその父に話した。
13-12 And their father said unto them, What way went he? Now his sons had seen what way the man of God went, that came from Judah. 父が彼らに「その人はどの道を行ったか」と聞いたので、むすこたちはユダからきた神の人の行った道を父に示した。
13-13 And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass; and he rode thereon. 父はむすこたちに言った、「わたしのためにろばにくらを置きなさい」。彼らがろばにくらを置いたので、彼はそれに乗り、
13-14 And he went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak; and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am. 神の人のあとを追って行き、かしの木の下にすわっているのを見て、その人に言った、「あなたはユダからこられた神の人ですか」。その人は言った、「そうです」。
13-15 Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread. そこで彼はその人に言った、「わたしと一緒に家にきてパンを食べてください」。
13-16 And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee; neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place: その人は言った、「わたしはあなたと一緒に引き返すことはできません。あなたと一緒に行くことはできません。またわたしはこの所であなたと一緒にパンも食べず水も飲みません。
13-17 for it was said to me by the word of Jehovah, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest. 主の言葉によってわたしは、『その所でパンを食べてはならない、水を飲んではならない。また来た道から帰ってはならない』と言われているからです」。
13-18 And he said unto him, I also am a prophet as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of Jehovah, saying, Bring him back with thee into thy house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him. 彼はその人に言った、「わたしもあなたと同じ預言者ですが、天の使が主の命によってわたしに告げて、『その人を一緒に家につれ帰り、パンを食べさせ、水を飲ませよ』と言いました」。これは彼がその人を欺いたのである。
13-19 So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water. そこでその人は彼と一緒に引き返し、その家でパンを食べ、水を飲んだ。
13-20 And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of Jehovah came unto the prophet that brought him back; 彼らが食卓についていたとき、主の言葉が、その人をつれて帰った預言者に臨んだので、
13-21 and he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, Forasmuch as thou hast been disobedient unto the mouth of Jehovah, and hast not kept the commandment which Jehovah thy God commanded thee, 彼はユダからきた神の人にむかい呼ばわって言った、「主はこう仰せられます、『あなたが主の言葉にそむき、あなたの神、主がお命じになった命令を守らず、
13-22 but camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which he said to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy body shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers. 引き返して、主があなたに、パンを食べてはならない、水を飲んではならない、と言われた場所でパンを食べ、水を飲んだゆえ、あなたの死体はあなたの先祖の墓に行かないであろう』」。
13-23 And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, to wit, for the prophet whom he had brought back. そしてその人がパンを食べ、水を飲んだ後、彼はその人のため、すなわちつれ帰った預言者のためにろばにくらを置いた。
13-24 And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his body was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it; the lion also stood by the body. こうしてその人は立ち去ったが、道でししが彼に会って彼を殺した。そしてその死体は道に捨てられ、ろばはそのかたわらに立ち、ししもまた死体のかたわらに立っていた。
13-25 And, behold, men passed by, and saw the body cast in the way, and the lion standing by the body; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt. 人々はそこをとおって、道に捨てられている死体と、死体のかたわらに立っているししを見て、かの老預言者の住んでいる町にきてそれを話した。
13-26 And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the mouth of Jehovah: therefore Jehovah hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spake unto him. その人を道からつれて帰った預言者はそれを聞いて言った、「それは主の言葉にそむいた神の人だ。主が彼に言われた言葉のように、主は彼をししにわたされ、ししが彼を裂き殺したのだ」。
13-27 And he spake to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled it. そしてむすこたちに言った、「わたしのためにろばにくらを置きなさい」。彼らがくらを置いたので、
13-28 And he went and found his body cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the body: the lion had not eaten the body, nor torn the ass. 彼は行って、死体が道に捨てられ、ろばとししが死体のかたわらに立っているのを見た。ししはその死体を食べず、ろばも裂いていなかった。
13-29 And the prophet took up the body of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back; and he came to the city of the old prophet, to mourn, and to bury him. そこで預言者は神の人の死体を取りあげ、それをろばに載せて町に持ち帰り、悲しんでそれを葬った。
13-30 And he laid his body in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, Alas, my brother! すなわちその死体を自分の墓に納め、皆これがために「ああ、わが兄弟よ」と言って悲しんだ。
13-31 And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones. 彼はそれを葬って後、むすこたちに言った、「わたしが死んだ時は、神の人を葬った墓に葬り、わたしの骨を彼の骨のかたわらに納めなさい。
13-32 For the saying which he cried by the word of Jehovah against the altar in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass. 彼が主の命によって、ベテルにある祭壇にむかい、またサマリヤの町々にある高き所のすべての家にむかって呼ばわった言葉は必ず成就するのです」。
13-33 After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again from among all the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, that there might be priests of the high places. この事の後も、ヤラベアムはその悪い道を離れて立ち返ることをせず、また一般の民を、高き所の祭司に任命した。すなわち、だれでも好む者は、それを立てて高き所の祭司とした。
13-34 And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth. この事はヤラベアムの家の罪となって、ついにこれを地のおもてから断ち滅ぼすようになった。
