箴言 第24篇

24-1 Be not thou envious against evil men; Neither desire to be with them: 悪を行う人をうらやんではならない、また彼らと共におることを願ってはならない。
24-2 For their heart studieth oppression, And their lips talk of mischief. 彼らはその心に強奪を計り、そのくちびるに人をそこなうことを語るからである。
24-3 Through wisdom is a house builded; And by understanding it is established; 家は知恵によって建てられ、悟りによって堅くせられ、
24-4 And by knowledge are the chambers filled .With all precious and pleasant riches. また、へやは知識によってさまざまの尊く、麗しい宝で満たされる。
24-5 A wise man is strong; Yea, a man of knowledge increaseth might 知恵ある者は強い人よりも強く、知識ある人は力ある人よりも強い。
24-6 For by wise guidance thou shalt make thy war; And in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. 良い指揮によって戦いをすることができ、勝利は多くの議する者がいるからである。
24-7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: He openeth not his mouth in the gate. 知恵は高くて愚かな者の及ぶところではない、愚かな者は門で口を開くことができない。
24-8 He that deviseth to do evil, Men shall call him a mischief-maker. 悪を行うことを計る者を人はいたずら者ととなえる。
24-9 The thought of foolishness is sin; And the scoffer is an abomination to men. 愚かな者の計るところは罪であり、あざける者は人に憎まれる。
24-10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, Thy strength is small. もしあなたが悩みの日に気をくじくならば、あなたの力は弱い。
24-11 Deliver them that are carried away unto death, And those that are ready to be slain see that thou hold back. 死地にひかれゆく者を助け出せ、滅びによろめきゆく者を救え。
24-12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew not this; Doth not he that weigheth the hearts consider it? And he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? And shall not he render to every man according to his work? あなたが、われわれはこれを知らなかったといっても、心をはかる者はそれを悟らないであろうか。あなたの魂を守る者はそれを知らないであろうか。彼はおのおのの行いにより、人に報いないであろうか。
24-13 My son, eat thou honey, for it is good; And the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to thy taste: わが子よ、蜜を食べよ、これは良いものである、また、蜂の巣のしたたりはあなたの口に甘い。
24-14 So shalt thou know wisdom to be unto thy soul; If thou hast found it, then shall there be a reward, And thy hope shall not be cut off. 知恵もあなたの魂にはそのようであることを知れ。それを得るならば、かならず報いがあって、あなたの望みは、すたらない。
24-15 Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous; Destroy not his resting-place: 悪しき者がするように、正しい者の家をうかがってはならない、その住む所に乱暴をしてはならない。
24-16 For a righteous man falleth seven times, and riseth up again; But the wicked are overthrown by calamity. 正しい者は七たび倒れても、また起きあがる、しかし、悪しき者は災によって滅びる。
24-17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, And let not thy heart be glad when he is overthrown; あなたのあだが倒れるとき楽しんではならない、彼のつまずくとき心に喜んではならない。
24-18 Lest Jehovah see it, and it displease him, And he turn away his wrath from him. 主はそれを見て悪いこととし、その怒りを彼から転じられる。
24-19 Fret not thyself because of evil-doers; Neither be thou envious at the wicked: 悪を行う者のゆえに心を悩ましてはならない、よこしまな者をうらやんではならない。
24-20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; The lamp of the wicked shall be put out. 悪しき者には後の良い報いはない、よこしまな者のともしびは消される。
24-21 My son, fear thou Jehovah and the king; And company not with them that are given to change: わが子よ、主と王とを恐れよ、そのいずれにも不従順であってはならない。
24-22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; And the destruction from them both, who knoweth it? その災はたちまち起るからである。この二つの者からくる滅びをだれが知り得ようか。
24-23 These also are sayings of the wise. To have respect of persons in judgment is not good. これらもまた知恵ある者の箴言である。片寄ったさばきをするのは、よくない。
24-24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; Peoples shall curse him, nations shall abhor him: 悪しき者に向かって、「あなたは正しい」という者を、人々はのろい、諸民は憎む。
24-25 But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, And a good blessing shall come upon them. 悪しき者をせめる者は恵みを得る、また幸福が与えられる。
24-26 He kisseth the lips .Who giveth a right answer. 正しい答をする者は、くちびるに、口づけするのである。
24-27 Prepare thy work without, And make it ready for thee in the field; And afterwards build thy house. 外で、あなたの仕事を整え、畑で、すべての物をおのれのために備え、その後あなたの家を建てるがよい。
24-28 Be not a witness against thy neighbor without cause; And deceive not with thy lips. ゆえなく隣り人に敵して、証言をしてはならない、くちびるをもって欺いてはならない。
24-29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me; I will render to the man according to his work. 「彼がわたしにしたように、わたしも彼にしよう、わたしは人がしたところにしたがって、その人に報いよう」と言ってはならない。
24-30 I went by the field of the sluggard, And by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; わたしはなまけ者の畑のそばと、知恵のない人のぶどう畑のそばを通ってみたが、
24-31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, The face thereof was covered with nettles, And the stone wall thereof was broken down. いばらが一面に生え、あざみがその地面をおおい、その石がきはくずれていた。
24-32 Then I beheld, and considered well; I saw, and received instruction: わたしはこれをみて心をとどめ、これを見て教訓を得た。
24-33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep; 「しばらく眠り、しばらくまどろみ、手をこまぬいて、またしばらく休む」。
24-34 So shall thy poverty come as a robber, And thy want as an armed man. それゆえ、貧しさは盗びとのように、あなたに来、乏しさは、つわもののように、あなたに来る。
