104-1 Bless Jehovah, O my soul. O Jehovah my God, thou art very great; Thou art clothed with honor and majesty: わがたましいよ、主をほめよ。わが神、主よ、あなたはいとも大いにして誉と威厳とを着、
104-2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment; Who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain; 光を衣のようにまとい、天を幕のように張り、
104-3 Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters; Who maketh the clouds his chariot; Who walketh upon the wings of the wind; 水の上におのが高殿のうつばりをおき、雲をおのれのいくさ車とし、風の翼に乗りあるき、
104-4 Who maketh winds his messengers; Flames of fire his ministers; 風をおのれの使者とし、火と炎をおのれのしもべとされる。
104-5 Who laid the foundations of the earth, That it should not be moved for ever. あなたは地をその基の上にすえて、とこしえに動くことのないようにされた。
104-6 Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a vesture; The waters stood above the mountains. あなたはこれを衣でおおうように大水でおおわれた。水はたたえて山々の上を越えた。
104-7 At thy rebuke they fled; At the voice of thy thunder they hasted away あなたのとがめによって水は退き、あなたの雷の声によって水は逃げ去った。
104-8 (The mountains rose, the valleys sank down) Unto the place which thou hadst founded for them. 山は立ちあがり、谷はあなたが定められた所に沈んだ。
104-9 Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; That they turn not again to cover the earth. あなたは水に境を定めて、これを越えさせず、再び地をおおうことのないようにされた。
104-10 He sendeth forth springs into the valleys; They run among the mountains; あなたは泉を谷にわき出させ、それを山々の間に流れさせ、
104-11 They give drink to every beast of the field; The wild asses quench their thirst. 野のもろもろの獣に飲ませられる。野のろばもそのかわきをいやす。
104-12 By them the birds of the heavens have their habitation; They sing among the branches. 空の鳥もそのほとりに住み、こずえの間にさえずり歌う。
104-13 He watereth the mountains from his chambers: The earth is filled with the fruit of thy works. あなたはその高殿からもろもろの山に水を注がれる。地はあなたのみわざの実をもって満たされる。
104-14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, And herb for the service of man; That he may bring forth food out of the earth, あなたは家畜のために草をはえさせ、また人のためにその栽培する植物を与えて、地から食物を出させられる。
104-15 And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, And oil to make his face to shine, And bread that strengtheneth man’s heart. すなわち人の心を喜ばすぶどう酒、その顔をつややかにする油、人の心を強くするパンなどである。
104-16 The trees of Jehovah are filled with moisture, The cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted; 主の木と、主がお植えになったレバノンの香柏とは豊かに潤され、
104-17 Where the birds make their nests: As for the stork, the fir-trees are her house. 鳥はその中に巣をつくり、こうのとりはもみの木をそのすまいとする。
104-18 The high mountains are for the wild goats; The rocks are a refuge for the conies. 高き山はやぎのすまい、岩は岩だぬきの隠れる所である。
104-19 He appointed the moon for seasons:
The sun knoweth his going down.
あなたは月を造って季節を定められた。日はその入る時を知っている。
104-20 Thou makest darkness, and it is night, Wherein all the beasts of the forest creep forth. あなたは暗やみを造って夜とされた。その時、林の獣は皆忍び出る。
104-21 The young lions roar after their prey, And seek their food from God. 若きししはほえてえさを求め、神に食物を求める。
104-22 The sun ariseth, they get them away, And lay them down in their dens. 日が出ると退いて、その穴に寝る。
104-23 Man goeth forth unto his work .And to his labor until the evening. 人は出てわざにつき、その勤労は夕べに及ぶ。
104-24 O Jehovah, how manifold are thy works! In wisdom hast thou made them all: The earth is full of thy riches. 主よ、あなたのみわざはいかに多いことであろう。あなたはこれらをみな知恵をもって造られた。地はあなたの造られたもので満ちている。
104-25 Yonder is the sea, great and wide, Wherein are things creeping innumerable, Both small and great beasts. かしこに大いなる広い海がある。その中に無数のもの、大小の生き物が満ちている。
104-26 There go the ships; There is leviathan, whom thou hast formed to play therein. そこに舟が走り、あなたが造られたレビヤタンはその中に戯れる。
104-27 These wait all for thee, That thou mayest give them their food in due season. 彼らは皆あなたが時にしたがって食物をお与えになるのを期待している。
104-28 Thou givest unto them, they gather; Thou openest thy hand, they are satisfied with good. あなたがお与えになると、彼らはそれを集める。あなたが手を開かれると、彼らは良い物で満たされる。
104-29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; Thou takest away their breath, they die, And return to their dust. あなたがみ顔を隠されると、彼らはあわてふためく。あなたが彼らの息を取り去られると、彼らは死んでちりに帰る。
104-30 Thou sendest forth thy Spirit, they are created; And thou renewest the face of the ground. あなたが霊を送られると、彼らは造られる。あなたは地のおもてを新たにされる。
104-31 Let the glory of Jehovah endure for ever; Let Jehovah rejoice in his works: どうか、主の栄光がとこしえにあるように。主がそのみわざを喜ばれるように。
104-32 Who looketh on the earth, and it trembleth; He toucheth the mountains, and they smoke. 主が地を見られると、地は震い、山に触れられると、煙をいだす。
104-33 I will sing unto Jehovah as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have any being. わたしは生きるかぎり、主にむかって歌い、ながらえる間はわが神をほめ歌おう。
104-34 Let thy meditation be sweet unto him: I will rejoice in Jehovah. どうか、わたしの思いが主に喜ばれるように。わたしは主によって喜ぶ。
104-35 Let sinners be consumed out of the earth. And let the wicked be no more. Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Praise ye Jehovah. どうか、罪びとが地から断ち滅ぼされ、悪しき者が、もはや、いなくなるように。わがたましいよ、主をほめよ。主をほめたたえよ。
