O Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known me. |
主よ、あなたはわたしを探り、わたしを知りつくされました。 |
| 139-2 |
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising; Thou understandest my thought afar off. |
あなたはわがすわるをも、立つをも知り、遠くからわが思いをわきまえられます。 |
| 139-3 |
Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, And art acquainted with all my ways. |
あなたはわが歩むをも、伏すをも探り出し、わがもろもろの道をことごとく知っておられます。 |
| 139-4 |
For there is not a word in my tongue, But, lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether. |
わたしの舌に一言もないのに、主よ、あなたはことごとくそれを知られます。 |
| 139-5 |
Thou hast beset me behind and before, And laid thy hand upon me. |
あなたは後から、前からわたしを囲み、わたしの上にみ手をおかれます。 |
| 139-6 |
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain unto it. |
このような知識はあまりに不思議で、わたしには思いも及びません。これは高くて達することはできません。 |

Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? |
わたしはどこへ行って、あなたのみたまを離れましょうか。わたしはどこへ行って、あなたのみ前をのがれましょうか。 |

If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou art there. |
わたしが天にのぼっても、あなたはそこにおられます。わたしが陰府に床を設けても、あなたはそこにおられます。 |

If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; |
わたしがあけぼのの翼をかって海のはてに住んでも、 |
| 139-10 |
Even there shall thy hand lead me, And thy right hand shall hold me. |
あなたのみ手はその所でわたしを導き、あなたの右のみ手はわたしをささえられます。 |
| 139-11 |
If I say, Surely the darkness shall overwhelm me, And the light about me shall be night; |
「やみはわたしをおおい、わたしを囲む光は夜となれ」とわたしが言っても、 |
| 139-12 |
Even the darkness hideth not from thee, But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee. |
あなたには、やみも暗くはなく、夜も昼のように輝きます。あなたには、やみも光も異なることはありません。 |
| 139-13 |
For thou didst form my inward parts: Thou didst cover me in my mother’s womb. |
あなたはわが内臓をつくり、わが母の胎内でわたしを組み立てられました。 |
| 139-14 |
I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Wonderful are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well. |
わたしはあなたをほめたたえます。あなたは恐るべく、くすしき方だからです。あなたのみわざはくすしく、あなたは最もよくわたしを知っておられます。 |

My frame was not hidden from thee, When I was made in secret, And curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. |
わたしが隠れた所で造られ、地の深い所でつづり合されたとき、わたしの骨はあなたに隠れることがなかった。 |
| 139-16 |
Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, Even the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was none of them. |
あなたの目は、まだできあがらないわたしのからだを見られた。わたしのためにつくられたわがよわいの日のまだ一日もなかったとき、その日はことごとくあなたの書にしるされた。 |

How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! |
神よ、あなたのもろもろのみ思いは、なんとわたしに尊いことでしょう。その全体はなんと広大なことでしょう。 |
| 139-18 |
If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: When I awake, I am still with thee. |
わたしがこれを数えようとすれば、その数は砂よりも多い。わたしが目ざめるとき、わたしはなおあなたと共にいます。 |

Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: Depart from me therefore, ye bloodthirsty men. |
神よ、どうか悪しき者を殺してください。血を流す者をわたしから離れ去らせてください。 |
| 139-20 |
For they speak against thee wickedly, And thine enemies take thy name in vain. |
彼らは敵意をもってあなたをあなどり、あなたに逆らって高ぶり、悪を行う人々です。 |
| 139-21 |
Do not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? And am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? |
主よ、わたしはあなたを憎む者を憎み、あなたに逆らって起り立つ者をいとうではありませんか。 |
| 139-22 |
I hate them with perfect hatred: They are become mine enemies. |
わたしは全く彼らを憎み、彼らをわたしの敵と思います。 |
| 139-23 |
Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts; |
神よ、どうか、わたしを探って、わが心を知り、わたしを試みて、わがもろもろの思いを知ってください。 |
| 139-24 |
And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. |
わたしに悪しき道のあるかないかを見て、わたしをとこしえの道に導いてください。 |
