| 40-1 |
I waited patiently for Jehovah; And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. |
わたしは耐え忍んで主を待ち望んだ。主は耳を傾けて、わたしの叫びを聞かれた。 |
| 40-2 |
He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay; And he set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. |
主はわたしを滅びの穴から、泥の沼から引きあげて、わたしの足を岩の上におき、わたしの歩みをたしかにされた。 |
| 40-3 |
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: Many shall see it, and fear, And shall trust in Jehovah. |
主は新しい歌をわたしの口に授け、われらの神にささげるさんびの歌をわたしの口に授けられた。多くの人はこれを見て恐れ、かつ主に信頼するであろう。 |

Blessed is the man that maketh Jehovah his trust, And respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. |
主をおのが頼みとする人、高ぶる者にたよらず、偽りの神に迷う者にたよらない人はさいわいである。 |
| 40-5 |
Many, O Jehovah my God, are the wonderful works which thou hast done, And thy thoughts which are to us-ward; They cannot be set in order unto thee; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered. |
わが神、主よ、あなたのくすしきみわざと、われらを思うみおもいとは多くて、くらべうるものはない。わたしはこれを語り述べようとしても多くて数えることはできない。 |

Sacrifice and offering thou hast no delight in; Mine ears hast thou opened: Burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not required. |
あなたはいけにえと供え物とを喜ばれない。あなたはわたしの耳を開かれた。あなたは燔祭と罪祭とを求められない。 |

Then said I, Lo, I am come; In the roll of the book it is written of me: |
その時わたしは言った、「見よ、わたしはまいります。書の巻に、わたしのためにしるされています。 |
| 40-8 |
I delight to do thy will, O my God; Yea, thy law is within my heart. |
わが神よ、わたしはみこころを行うことを喜びます。あなたのおきてはわたしの心のうちにあります」と。 |

I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great assembly; Lo, I will not refrain my lips, O Jehovah, thou knowest. |
わたしは大いなる集会で、救についての喜びのおとずれを告げ示しました。見よ、わたしはくちびるを閉じませんでした。主よ、あなたはこれをご存じです。 |
| 40-10 |
I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation; I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great assembly. |
わたしはあなたの救を心のうちに隠しおかず、あなたのまことと救とを告げ示しました。わたしはあなたのいつくしみとまこととを大いなる集会に隠しませんでした。 |

Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Jehovah; Let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. |
主よ、あなたのあわれみをわたしに惜しまず、あなたのいつくしみとまこととをもって常にわたしをお守りください。 |
| 40-12 |
For innumerable evils have compassed me about; Mine iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; They are more than the hairs of my head; And my heart hath failed me. |
数えがたい災がわたしを囲み、わたしの不義がわたしに追い迫って、物見ることができないまでになりました。それはわたしの頭の毛よりも多く、わたしの心は消えうせるばかりになりました。 |

Be pleased, O Jehovah, to deliver me: Make haste to help me, O Jehovah. |
主よ、みこころならばわたしをお救いください。主よ、すみやかにわたしをお助けください。 |
| 40-14 |
Let them be put to shame and confounded together .That seek after my soul to destroy it: Let them be turned backward and brought to dishonor. That delight in my hurt. |
わたしのいのちを奪おうと尋ね求める者どもをことごとく恥じあわてさせてください。わたしのそこなわれることを願う者どもをうしろに退かせ、恥を負わせてください。 |

Let them be desolate by reason of their shame .That say unto me, Aha, aha. |
わたしにむかって「あはぁ、あはぁ」と言う者どもを自分の恥によって恐れおののかせてください。 |
| 40-16 |
Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: Let such as love thy salvation say continually, Jehovah be magnified. |
しかし、すべてあなたを尋ね求める者はあなたによって喜び楽しむように。あなたの救を愛する者は常に「主は大いなるかな」ととなえるように。 |
| 40-17 |
But I am poor and needy; Yet the Lord thinketh upon me: Thou art my help and my deliverer; Make no tarrying, O my God. |
わたしは貧しく、かつ乏しい。しかし主はわたしをかえりみられます。あなたはわが助け、わが救主です。わが神よ、ためらわないでください。 |
