３-１ If then ye were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. このように、あなたがたはキリストと共によみがえらされたのだから、上にあるものを求めなさい。そこではキリストが神の右に座しておられるのである。
３-２ Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are upon the earth. あなたがたは上にあるものを思うべきであって、地上のものに心を引かれてはならない。
３-３ For ye died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. あなたがたはすでに死んだものであって、あなたがたのいのちは、キリストと共に神のうちに隠されているのである。
３-４ When Christ, who is our life, shall be manifested, then shall ye also with him be manifested in glory. わたしたちのいのちなるキリストが現れる時には、あなたがたも、キリストと共に栄光のうちに現れるであろう。
３-５ Put to death therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry; だから、地上の肢体、すなわち、不品行、汚れ、情欲、悪欲、また貪欲を殺してしまいなさい。貪欲は偶像礼拝にほかならない。
３-６ for which things’ sake cometh the wrath of God upon the sons of disobedience: これらのことのために、神の怒りが下るのである。
３-７ wherein ye also once walked, when ye lived in these things; あなたがたも、以前これらのうちに日を過ごしていた時には、これらのことをして歩いていた。
３-８ but now do ye also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, railing, shameful speaking out of your mouth: しかし今は、これらいっさいのことを捨て、怒り、憤り、悪意、そしり、口から出る恥ずべき言葉を、捨ててしまいなさい。
３-９ lie not one to another; seeing that ye have put off the old man with his doings, 互にうそを言ってはならない。あなたがたは、古き人をその行いと一緒に脱ぎ捨て、
３-１０ and have put on the new man, that is being renewed unto knowledge after the image of him that created him: 造り主のかたちに従って新しくされ、真の知識に至る新しき人を着たのである。
３-１１ where there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondman, freeman; but Christ is all, and in all. そこには、もはやギリシヤ人とユダヤ人、割礼と無割礼、未開の人、スクテヤ人、奴隷、自由人の差別はない。キリストがすべてであり、すべてのもののうちにいますのである。
３-１２ Put on therefore, as God’s elect, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, longsuffering; だから、あなたがたは、神に選ばれた者、聖なる、愛されている者であるから、あわれみの心、慈愛、謙そん、柔和、寛容を身に着けなさい。
３-１３ forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man have a complaint against any; even as the Lord forgave you, so also do ye: 互に忍びあい、もし互に責むべきことがあれば、ゆるし合いなさい。主もあなたがたをゆるして下さったのだから、そのように、あなたがたもゆるし合いなさい。
３-１４ and above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness. これらいっさいのものの上に、愛を加えなさい。愛は、すべてを完全に結ぶ帯である。
３-１５ And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to the which also ye were called in one body; and be ye thankful. キリストの平和が、あなたがたの心を支配するようにしなさい。あなたがたが召されて一体となったのは、このためでもある。いつも感謝していなさい。
３-１６ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God. キリストの言葉を、あなたがたのうちに豊かに宿らせなさい。そして、知恵をつくして互に教えまた訓戒し、詩とさんびと霊の歌とによって、感謝して心から神をほめたたえなさい。
３-１７ And whatsoever ye do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. そして、あなたのすることはすべて、言葉によるとわざによるとを問わず、いっさい主イエスの名によってなし、彼によって父なる神に感謝しなさい。
３-１８ Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 妻たる者よ、夫に仕えなさい。それが、主にある者にふさわしいことである。
３-１９ Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. 夫たる者よ、妻を愛しなさい。つらくあたってはいけない。
３-２０ Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing in the Lord. 子たる者よ、何事についても両親に従いなさい。これが主に喜ばれることである。
３-２１ Fathers, provoke not your children, that they be not discouraged. 父たる者よ、子供をいらだたせてはいけない。心がいじけるかも知れないから。
３-２２ Servants, obey in all things them that are your masters according to the flesh; not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing the Lord: 僕たる者よ、何事についても、肉による主人に従いなさい。人にへつらおうとして、目先だけの勤めをするのではなく、真心をこめて主を恐れつつ、従いなさい。
３-２３ whatsoever ye do, work heartily, as unto the Lord, and not unto men; 何をするにも、人に対してではなく、主に対してするように、心から働きなさい。
３-２４ knowing that from the Lord ye shall receive the recompense of the inheritance: ye serve the Lord Christ. あなたがたが知っているとおり、あなたがたは御国をつぐことを、報いとして主から受けるであろう。あなたがたは、主キリストに仕えているのである。
３-２５ For he that doeth wrong shall receive again for the wrong that he hath done: and there is no respect of persons. 不正を行う者は、自分の行った不正に対して報いを受けるであろう。それには差別扱いはない。
