The Second Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians

１-１ Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints that are in the whole of Achaia: 神の御旨によりキリスト・イエスの使徒となったパウロと、兄弟テモテとから、コリントにある神の教会、ならびにアカヤ全土にいるすべての聖徒たちへ。
１-２ Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. わたしたちの父なる神と主イエス・キリストから、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように。
１-３ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; ほむべきかな、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの父なる神、あわれみ深き父、慰めに満ちたる神。
１-４ who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any affliction, through the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 神は、いかなる患難の中にいる時でもわたしたちを慰めて下さり、また、わたしたち自身も、神に慰めていただくその慰めをもって、あらゆる患難の中にある人々を慰めることができるようにして下さるのである。
１-５ For as the sufferings of Christ abound unto us, even so our comfort also aboundeth through Christ. それは、キリストの苦難がわたしたちに満ちあふれているように、わたしたちの受ける慰めもまた、キリストによって満ちあふれているからである。
１-６ But whether we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or whether we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which worketh in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: わたしたちが患難に会うなら、それはあなたがたの慰めと救とのためであり、慰めを受けるなら、それはあなたがたの慰めのためであって、その慰めは、わたしたちが受けているのと同じ苦難に耐えさせる力となるのである。
１-７ and our hope for you is stedfast; knowing that, as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so also are ye of the comfort. だから、あなたがたに対していだいているわたしたちの望みは、動くことがない。あなたがたが、わたしたちと共に苦難にあずかっているように、慰めにも共にあずかっていることを知っているからである。
１-８ For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which befell us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, insomuch that we despaired even of life: 兄弟たちよ。わたしたちがアジヤで会った患難を、知らずにいてもらいたくない。わたしたちは極度に、耐えられないほど圧迫されて、生きる望みをさえ失ってしまい、
１-９ yea, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raiseth the dead: 心のうちで死を覚悟し、自分自身を頼みとしないで、死人をよみがえらせて下さる神を頼みとするに至った。
１-１０ who delivered us out of so great a death, and will deliver: on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us; 神はこのような死の危険から、わたしたちを救い出して下さった、また救い出して下さるであろう。わたしたちは、神が今後も救い出して下さることを望んでいる。
１-１１ ye also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed upon us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf. そして、あなたがたもまた祈をもって、ともどもに、わたしたちを助けてくれるであろう。これは多くの人々の願いによりわたしたちに賜わった恵みについて、多くの人が感謝をささげるようになるためである。
１-１２ For our glorifying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward. さて、わたしたちがこの世で、ことにあなたがたに対し、人間の知恵によってではなく神の恵みによって、神の神聖と真実とによって行動してきたことは、実にわたしたちの誇であって、良心のあかしするところである。
１-１３ For we write no other things unto you, than what ye read or even acknowledge, and I hope ye will acknowledge unto the end: わたしたちが書いていることは、あなたがたが読んで理解できないことではない。それを完全に理解してくれるように、わたしは希望する。
１-１４ as also ye did acknowledge us in part, that we are your glorying, even as ye also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus. すでにある程度わたしたちを理解してくれているとおり、わたしたちの主イエスの日には、あなたがたがわたしたちの誇であるように、わたしたちもあなたがたの誇なのである。
１-１５ And in this confidence I was minded to come first unto you, that ye might have a second benefit; この確信をもって、わたしたちはもう一度恵みを得させたいので、まずあなたがたの所に行き、
１-１６ and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come unto you, and of you to be set forward on my journey unto Judaea. それからそちらを通ってマケドニヤにおもむき、そして再びマケドニヤからあなたがたの所に帰り、あなたがたの見送りを受けてユダヤに行く計画を立てたのである。
１-１７ When I therefore was thus minded, did I show fickleness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the yea yea and the nay nay? この計画を立てたのは、軽率なことであったであろうか。それとも、自分の計画を肉の思いによって計画したため、わたしの「しかり、しかり」が同時に「否、否」であったのだろうか。
１-１８ But as God is faithful, our word toward you is not yea and nay. 神の真実にかけて言うが、あなたがたに対するわたしの言葉は、「しかり」と同時に「否」というようなものではない。
１-１９ For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timothy, was not yea and nay, but in him is yea. なぜなら、わたしたち、すなわち、わたしとシルワノとテモテとが、あなたがたに宣べ伝えた神の子キリスト・イエスは、「しかり」となると同時に「否」となったのではない。そうではなく、「しかり」がイエスにおいて実現されたのである。
１-２０ For how many soever be the promises of God, in him is the yea: wherefore also through him is the Amen, unto the glory of God through us. なぜなら、神の約束はことごとく、彼において「しかり」となったからである。だから、わたしたちは、彼によって「アァメン」と唱えて、神に栄光を帰するのである。
１-２１ Now he that establisheth us with you in Christ, and anointed us, is God; あなたがたと共にわたしたちを、キリストのうちに堅くささえ、油をそそいで下さったのは、神である。
１-２２ who also sealed us, and gave us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. 神はまた、わたしたちに証印をおし、その保証として、わたしたちの心に御霊を賜わったのである。
１-２３ But I call God for a witness upon my soul, that to spare you I forbare to come unto Corinth. わたしは自分の魂をかけ、神を証人に呼び求めて言うが、わたしがコリントに行かないでいるのは、あなたがたに対して寛大でありたいためである。
１-２４ Not that we have lordship over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for in faith ye stand fast. わたしたちは、あなたがたの信仰を支配する者ではなく、あなたがたの喜びのために共に働いている者にすぎない。あなたがたは、信仰に堅く立っているからである。
