12-1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. 兄弟たちよ。そういうわけで、神のあわれみによってあなたがたに勧める。あなたがたのからだを、神に喜ばれる、生きた、聖なる供え物としてささげなさい。それが、あなたがたのなすべき霊的な礼拝である。
12-2 And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, and ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. あなたがたは、この世と妥協してはならない。むしろ、心を新たにすることによって、造りかえられ、何が神の御旨であるか、何が善であって、神に喜ばれ、かつ全きことであるかを、わきまえ知るべきである。
12-3 For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think as to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to each man a measure of faith. わたしは、自分に与えられた恵みによって、あなたがたひとりびとりに言う。思うべき限度を越えて思いあがることなく、むしろ、神が各自に分け与えられた信仰の量りにしたがって、慎み深く思うべきである。
12-4 For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members have not the same office: なぜなら、一つのからだにたくさんの肢体があるが、それらの肢体がみな同じ働きをしてはいないように、
12-5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and severally members one of another. わたしたちも数は多いが、キリストにあって一つのからだであり、また各自は互に肢体だからである。
12-6 And having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith; このように、わたしたちは与えられた恵みによって、それぞれ異なった賜物を持っているので、もし、それが預言であれば、信仰の程度に応じて預言をし、
12-7 or ministry, let us give ourselves to our ministry; or he that teacheth, to his teaching; 奉仕であれば奉仕をし、また教える者であれば教え、
12-8 or he that exhorteth, to his exhorting: he that giveth, let him do it with liberality; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness. 勧めをする者であれば勧め、寄附する者は惜しみなく寄附し、指導する者は熱心に指導し、慈善をする者は快く慈善をすべきである。
12-9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 愛には偽りがあってはならない。悪は憎み退け、善には親しみ結び、
12-10 In love of the brethren be tenderly affectioned one to another; in honor preferring one another; 兄弟の愛をもって互にいつくしみ、進んで互に尊敬し合いなさい。
12-11 in diligence not slothful; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 熱心で、うむことなく、霊に燃え、主に仕え、
12-12 rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing stedfastly in prayer; 望みをいだいて喜び、患難に耐え、常に祈りなさい。
12-13 communicating to the necessities of the saints; given to hospitality. 貧しい聖徒を助け、努めて旅人をもてなしなさい。
12-14 Bless them that persecute you; bless, and curse not. あなたがたを迫害する者を祝福しなさい。祝福して、のろってはならない。
12-15 Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep. 喜ぶ者と共に喜び、泣く者と共に泣きなさい。
12-16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Set not your mind on high things, but condescend to things that are lowly. Be not wise in your own conceits. 互に思うことをひとつにし、高ぶった思いをいだかず、かえって低い者たちと交わるがよい。自分が知者だと思いあがってはならない。
12-17 Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men. だれに対しても悪をもって悪に報いず、すべての人に対して善を図りなさい。
12-18 If it be possible, as much as in you lieth, be at peace with all men. あなたがたは、できる限りすべての人と平和に過ごしなさい。
12-19 Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto the wrath of God: for it is written, Vengeance belongeth unto me; I will recompense, saith the Lord. 愛する者たちよ。自分で復讐をしないで、むしろ、神の怒りに任せなさい。なぜなら、「主が言われる。復讐はわたしのすることである。わたし自身が報復する」と書いてあるからである。
12-20 But if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head. むしろ、「もしあなたの敵が飢えるなら、彼に食わせ、かわくなら、彼に飲ませなさい。そうすることによって、あなたは彼の頭に燃えさかる炭火を積むことになるのである」。
12-21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. 悪に負けてはいけない。かえって、善をもって悪に勝ちなさい。
