1-1 Adam, Seth, Enosh, アダム、セツ、エノス、
1-2 Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, ケナン、マハラレル、ヤレド、
1-3 Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, エノク、メトセラ、ラメク、
1-4 Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. ノア、セム、ハム、ヤペテ。
1-5 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. ヤペテの子らはゴメル、マゴグ、マダイ、ヤワン、トバル、メセク、テラス。
1-6 And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, and Diphath, and Togarmah. ゴメルの子らはアシケナズ、デパテ、トガルマ。
1-7 And the sons of Javan: Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim. ヤワンの子らはエリシャ、タルシシ、キッテム、ロダニム。
1-8 The sons of Ham: Cush, and Mizraim, Put, and Canaan. ハムの子らはクシ、エジプト、プテ、カナン。
1-9 And the sons of Cush: Seba, and Havilah, and Sabta, and Raama, and Sabteca. And the sons of Raamah: Sheba, and Dedan. クシの子らはセバ、ハビラ、サブタ、ラアマ、サブテカ。ラアマの子らはシバとデダン。
1-10 And Cush begat Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one in the earth. クシはニムロデを生んだ。ニムロデは初めて世の権力ある者となった。
1-11 And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, エジプトはルデびと、アナムびと、レハブびと、ナフトびと、
1-12 and Pathrusim, and Casluhim (from whence came the Philistines), and Caphtorim. パテロスびと、カスルびと、カフトルびとを生んだ。カフトルびとからペリシテびとが出た。
1-13 And Canaan begat Sidon his first-born, and Heth, カナンは長子シドンとヘテを生んだ。
1-14 and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite, またエブスびと、アモリびと、ギルガシびと、
1-15 and the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, ヒビびと、アルキびと、セニびと、
1-16 and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite. アルワデびと、ゼマリびと、ハマテびとを生んだ。
1-17 The sons of Shem: Elam, and Asshur, and Arpachshad, and Lud, and Aram, and Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Meshech. セムの子らはエラム、アシュル、アルパクサデ、ルデ、アラム、ウズ、ホル、ゲテル、メセクである。
1-18 And Arpachshad begat Shelah, and Shelah begat Eber. アルパクサデはシラを生み、シラはエベルを生んだ。
1-19 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; for in his days the earth was divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan. エベルにふたりの子が生れた。ひとりの名はペレグ――彼の代に地の民が散り分れたからである――その弟の名はヨクタンといった。
1-20 And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah, ヨクタンはアルモダデ、シャレフ、ハザル・マウテ、エラ、
1-21 and Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah, ハドラム、ウザル、デクラ、
1-22 and Ebal, and Abimael, and Sheba, エバル、アビマエル、シバ、
1-23 and Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan. オフル、ハビラ、ヨバブを生んだ。これらはみなヨクタンの子である。
1-24 Shem, Arpachshad, Shelah, セム、アルパクサデ、シラ、
1-25 Eber, Peleg, Reu, エベル、ペレグ、リウ、
1-26 Serug, Nahor, Terah, セルグ、ナホル、テラ、
1-27 Abram (the same is Abraham). アブラムすなわちアブラハムである。
1-28 The sons of Abraham: Isaac, and Ishmael. アブラハムの子らはイサクとイシマエルである。
1-29 These are their generations: the first-born of Ishmael, Nebaioth; then Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam, 彼らの子孫は次のとおりである。イシマエルの長子はネバヨテ、次はケダル、アデビエル、ミブサム、
1-30 Mishma, and Dumah, Massa, Hadad, and Tema, ミシマ、ドマ、マッサ、ハダデ、テマ、
1-31 Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. These are the sons of Ishmael. エトル、ネフシ、ケデマ。これらはイシマエルの子孫である。
1-32 And the sons of Keturah, Abraham’s concubine: she bare Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah. And the sons of Jokshan: Sheba, and Dedan. アブラハムのそばめケトラの子孫は次のとおりである。彼女はジムラン、ヨクシャン、メダン、ミデアン、イシバク、シュワを産んだ。ヨクシャンの子らはシバとデダンである。
1-33 And the sons of Midian: Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the sons of Keturah. ミデアンの子らはエパ、エペル、ヘノク、アビダ、エルダア。これらはみなケトラの子孫である。
1-34 And Abraham begat Isaac. The sons of Isaac: Esau, and Israel. アブラハムはイサクを生んだ。イサクの子らはエサウとイスラエル。
1-35 The sons of Esau: Eliphaz, Reuel, and Jeush, and Jalam, and Korah. エサウの子らはエリパズ、リウエル、エウシ、ヤラム、コラ。
1-36 The sons of Eliphaz: Teman, and Omar, Zephi, and Gatam, Kenaz, and Timna, and Amalek. エリパズの子らはテマン、オマル、ゼピ、ガタム、ケナズ、テムナ、アマレク。
1-37 The sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. リウエルの子らはナハテ、ゼラ、シャンマ、ミッザ。
1-38 And the sons of Seir: Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah, and Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan. セイルの子らはロタン、ショバル、ヂベオン、アナ、デション、エゼル、デシャン。
1-39 And the sons of Lotan: Hori, and Homam; and Timna was Lotan’s sister. ロタンの子らはホリとホマム。ロタンの妹はテムナ。
1-40 The sons of Shobal: Alian, and Manahath, and Ebal, Shephi, and Onam. And the sons of Zibeon: Aiah, and Anah. ショバルの子らはアルヤン、マナハテ、エバル、シピ、オナム。ヂベオンの子らはアヤとアナ。
1-41 The sons of Anah: Dishon. And the sons of Dishon: Hamran, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran. アナの子はデション。デションの子らはハムラン、エシバン、イテラン、ケラン。
1-42 The sons of Ezer: Bilhan, and Zaavan, Jaakan. The sons of Dishan: Uz, and Aran. エゼルの子らはビルハン、ザワン、ヤカン。デシャンの子らはウズとアラン。
1-43 Now these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel: Bela the son of Beor; and the name of his city was Dinhabah. イスラエルの人々を治める王がまだなかった時、エドムの地を治めた王たちは次のとおりである。ベオルの子ベラ。その都の名はデナバといった。
1-44 And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead. ベラが死んで、ボズラのゼラの子ヨバブが代って王となった。
1-45 And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his stead. ヨバブが死んで、テマンびとの地のホシャムが代って王となった。
1-46 And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead; and the name of his city was Avith. ホシャムが死んで、ベダテの子ハダデが代って王となった。彼はモアブの野でミデアンを撃った。彼の都の名はアビテといった。
1-47 And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead. ハダデが死んで、マスレカのサムラが代って王となった。
1-48 And Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth by the River reigned in his stead. サムラが死んで、ユフラテ川のほとりのレホボテのサウルが代って王となった。
1-49 And Shaul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead. サウルが死んで、アクボルの子バアル・ハナンが代って王となった。
1-50 And Baal-hanan died, and Hadad reigned in his stead; and the name of his city was Pai: and his wife’s name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-zahab. バアル・ハナンが死んで、ハダデが代って王となった。彼の都の名はパイといった。彼の妻はマテレデの娘であって、名をメヘタベルといった。マテレデはメザハブの娘である。
1-51 And Hadad died.And the chiefs of Edom were: chief Timna, chief Aliah, chief Jetheth, ハダデも死んだ。エドムの族長は、テムナ侯、アルヤ侯、エテテ侯、
1-52 chief Oholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon, アホリバマ侯、エラ侯、ピノン侯、
1-53 chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar, ケナズ侯、テマン侯、ミブザル侯、
1-54 chief Magdiel, chief Iram. These are the chiefs of Edom. マグデエル侯、イラム侯。これらはエドムの族長である。
