Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel. |
ダビデは老い、その日が満ちたので、その子ソロモンをイスラエルの王とした。 |

And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites. |
ダビデはイスラエルのすべてのつかさおよび祭司とレビびとを集めた。 |
| 23-3 |
And the Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand. |
レビびとの三十歳以上のものを数えると、その男の数が三万八千人あった。 |
| 23-4 |
Of these, twenty and four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of Jehovah; and six thousand were officers and judges; |
ダビデは言った、「そのうち二万四千人は主の家の仕事をつかさどり、六千人はつかさびと、およびさばきびととなり、 |
| 23-5 |
and four thousand were doorkeepers; and four thousand praised Jehovah with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith. |
四千人は門を守る者となり、また四千人はさんびのためにわたしの造った楽器で主をたたえよ」。 |

And David divided them into courses according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. |
そしてダビデは彼らをレビの子らにしたがってゲルション、コハテ、メラリの組に分けた。 |

Of the Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei. |
ゲルションの子らはラダンとシメイ。 |
| 23-8 |
The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the chief, and Zetham, and Joel, three. |
ラダンの子らは、かしらのエヒエルとゼタムとヨエルの三人。 |
| 23-9 |
The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers’ houses of Ladan. |
シメイの子らはシロミテ、ハジエル、ハランの三人。これらはラダンの氏族の長であった。 |
| 23-10 |
And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei. |
シメイの子らはヤハテ、ジナ、エウシ、ベリアの四人。皆シメイの子で、 |
| 23-11 |
And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they became a fathers’ house in one reckoning. |
ヤハテはかしら、ジザはその次、エウシとベリアは子が多くなかったので、ともに数えられて一つの氏族となった。 |

The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four. |
コハテの子らはアムラム、イヅハル、ヘブロン、ウジエルの四人。 |
| 23-13 |
The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons, for ever, to burn incense before Jehovah, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, for ever. |
アムラムの子らはアロンとモーセである。アロンはその子らとともに、ながくいと聖なるものを聖別するために分かたれて、主の前に香をたき、主に仕え、常に主の名をもって祝福することをなした。 |

But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi. |
神の人モーセの子らはレビの部族のうちに数えられた。 |
| 23-15 |
The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer. |
モーセの子らはゲルションとエリエゼル。 |
| 23-16 |
The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the chief. |
ゲルションの子らは、かしらはシブエル。 |
| 23-17 |
And the sons of Eliezer were: Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many. |
エリエゼルの子らは、かしらはレハビヤ。エリエゼルにはこのほかに子がなかった。しかしレハビヤの子らは非常に多かった。 |

The sons of Izhar: Shelomith the chief. |
イヅハルの子らは、かしらはシロミテ。 |
| 23-19 |
The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth. |
ヘブロンの子らは長子はエリヤ、次はアマリヤ、第三はヤハジエル、第四はエカメアム。 |

The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second. |
ウジエルの子らは、かしらはミカ、次はイシアである。 |
| 23-21 |
The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish. |
メラリの子らはマヘリとムシ。マヘリの子らはエレアザルとキシ。 |
| 23-22 |
And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them to wife. |
エレアザルは男の子がなくて死に、ただ娘たちだけであったが、キシの子であるその身内の男たちが彼女たちをめとった。 |
| 23-23 |
The sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three. |
ムシの子らはマヘリ、エデル、エレモテの三人である。 |
| 23-24 |
These were the sons of Levi after their fathers’ houses, even the heads of the fathers’ houses of those of them that were counted, in the number of names by their polls, who did the work for the service of the house of Jehovah, from twenty years old and upward. |
これらはその氏族によるレビの子孫であって、その人数が数えられ、その名がしるされて、主の家の務をなした二十歳以上の者で、氏族の長であった。 |
| 23-25 |
For David said, Jehovah, the God of Israel, hath given rest unto his people; and he dwelleth in Jerusalem for ever: |
ダビデは言った、「イスラエルの神、主はその民に平安を与え、ながくエルサレムに住まわれる。 |
| 23-26 |
and also the Levites shall no more have need to carry the tabernacle and all the vessels of it for the service thereof. |
レビびとは重ねて幕屋およびその勤めの器物をかつぐことはない。 |
| 23-27 |
For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered, from twenty years old and upward. |
――ダビデの最後の言葉によって、レビびとは二十歳以上の者が数えられた―― |

For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God; |
彼らの務はアロンの子孫を助けて主の家の働きをし、庭とへやの仕事およびすべての聖なるものを清めること、そのほか、すべて神の家の働きをすることである。 |
| 23-29 |
for the showbread also, and for the fine flour for a meal-offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all manner of measure and size; |
また供えのパン、素祭の麦粉、種入れぬ菓子、焼いた供え物、油をまぜた供え物をつかさどり、またすべて分量および大きさを量ることをつかさどり、 |

and to stand every morning to thank and praise Jehovah, and likewise at even; |
また朝ごとに立って主に感謝し、さんびし、夕にもまたそのようにし、 |
| 23-31 |
and to offer all burnt-offerings unto Jehovah, on the sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before Jehovah; |
また安息日と新月と祭日に、主にもろもろの燔祭をささげるときは、絶えず主の前にその命じられた数にしたがってささげなければならない。 |
| 23-32 |
and that they should keep the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, for the service of the house of Jehovah. |
このようにして彼らは会見の幕屋と聖所の務を守り、主の家の働きのためにその兄弟であるアロンの子らに仕えなければならない」。 |
