| 13-1 |
In the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah. |
ヤラベアム王の第十八年にアビヤがユダの王となった。 |
| 13-2 |
Three years reigned he in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam. |
彼は三年の間エルサレムで世を治めた。彼の母はギベアのウリエルの娘で、名をミカヤといった。 |

And Abijah joined battle with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, who were mighty men of valor. |
ここにアビヤとヤラベアムとの間に戦争が起り、アビヤは四十万の精兵から成る勇敢な軍勢をもって戦いにいで、ヤラベアムも大勇士から成る八十万の精兵をもって、これに向かって戦いの備えをした。 |

And Abijah stood up upon mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill-country of Ephraim, and said, Hear me, O Jeroboam and all Israel: |
時にアビヤはエフライムの山地にあるゼマライム山の上に立って言った、「ヤラベアムおよびイスラエルの人々よ皆聞け。 |

Ought ye not to know that Jehovah, the God of Israel, gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt? |
あなたがたはイスラエルの神、主が塩の契約をもってイスラエルの国をながくダビデとその子孫に賜わったことを知らないのか。 |
| 13-6 |
Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord. |
ところがダビデの子ソロモンの家来であるネバテの子ヤラベアムが起って、その主君にそむき、 |
| 13-7 |
And there were gathered unto him worthless men, base fellows, that strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tender-hearted, and could not withstand them. |
また卑しい無頼のともがらが集まって彼にくみし、ソロモンの子レハベアムに敵したが、レハベアムは若く、かつ意志が弱くてこれに当ることができなかった。 |
| 13-8 |
And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of Jehovah in the hand of the sons of David; and ye are a great multitude, and there are with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods. |
今また、あなたがたは大軍をたのみ、またヤラベアムが造って、あなたがたの神とした金の子牛をたのんで、ダビデの子孫の手にある主の国に敵対しようとしている。 |

Have ye not driven out the priests of Jehovah, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made you priests after the manner of the peoples of other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods. |
またあなたがたはアロンの子孫である主の祭司とレビびととを追いだして、他の国々の民がするように祭司を立てたではないか。すなわちだれでも若い雄牛一頭、雄羊七頭を携えてきて、自分を聖別する者は皆あの神でない者の祭司とすることができた。 |

But as for us, Jehovah is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and we have priests ministering unto Jehovah, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in their work: |
しかしわれわれにおいては、主がわれわれの神であって、われわれは彼を捨てない。また主に仕える祭司はアロンの子孫であり、働きをなす者はレビびとである。 |
| 13-11 |
and they burn unto Jehovah every morning and every evening burnt-offerings and sweet incense: the showbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of Jehovah our God; but ye have forsaken him. |
彼らは朝ごと夕ごとに主に燔祭と、こうばしい香をささげ、供えのパンを純金の机の上に供え、また金の燭台とそのともしび皿を整えて、夕ごとにともすのである。このようにわれわれはわれわれの神、主の務を守っているが、あなたがたは彼を捨てた。 |
| 13-12 |
And, behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against Jehovah, the God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper. |
見よ、神はみずからわれわれと共におられて、われわれのかしらとなられ、また、その祭司たちはラッパを吹きならして、あなたがたを攻める。イスラエルの人々よ、あなたがたの先祖の神、主に敵して戦ってはならない。あなたがたは成功しない」。 |
| 13-13 |
But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them. |
ヤラベアムは伏兵を彼らのうしろに回らせたので、彼の軍隊はユダの前にあり、伏兵は彼らのうしろにあった。 |
| 13-14 |
And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind them; and they cried unto Jehovah, and the priests sounded with the trumpets. |
ユダはうしろを見ると、敵が前とうしろとにあったので、主に向かって呼ばわり、祭司たちはラッパを吹いた。 |
| 13-15 |
Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. |
そこでユダの人々はときの声をあげた。ユダの人々がときの声をあげると、神はヤラベアムとイスラエルの人々をアビヤとユダの前に打ち敗られたので、 |
| 13-16 |
And the children of Israel fled before Judah; and God delivered them into their hand. |
イスラエルの人々はユダの前から逃げた。神が彼らをユダの手に渡されたので、 |
| 13-17 |
And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men. |
アビヤとその民は、彼らをおびただしく撃ち殺した。イスラエルの殺されて倒れた者は五十万人、皆精兵であった。 |
| 13-18 |
Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon Jehovah, the God of their fathers. |
このように、この時イスラエルの人々は打ち負かされ、ユダの人々は勝を得た。彼らがその先祖の神、主を頼んだからである。 |
| 13-19 |
And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Beth-el with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephron with the towns thereof. |
アビヤはヤラベアムを追撃して数個の町を彼から取った。すなわちベテルとその村里、エシャナとその村里、エフロンとその村里である。 |
| 13-20 |
Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah: and Jehovah smote him, and he died. |
ヤラベアムは、アビヤの世には再び力を得ることができず、主に撃たれて死んだ。 |
| 13-21 |
But Abijah waxed mighty, and took unto himself fourteen wives, and begat twenty and two sons, and sixteen daughters. |
しかしアビヤは強くなり、妻十四人をめとり、むすこ二十二人、むすめ十六人をもうけた。 |
