| 15-1 |
And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded: |
時に神の霊がオデデの子アザリヤに臨んだので、 |
| 15-2 |
and he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: Jehovah is with you, while ye are with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you. |
彼は出ていってアサを迎え、これに言った、「アサおよびユダとベニヤミンの人々よ、わたしに聞きなさい。あなたがたが主と共におる間は、主もあなたがたと共におられます。あなたがたが、もし彼を求めるならば、彼に会うでしょう。しかし、彼を捨てるならば、彼もあなたがたを捨てられるでしょう。 |
| 15-3 |
Now for a long season Israel was without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law: |
そもそも、イスラエルには長い間、まことの神がなく、教をなす祭司もなく、律法もなかった。 |
| 15-4 |
But when in their distress they turned unto Jehovah, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them. |
しかし、悩みの時、彼らがイスラエルの神、主に立ち返り、彼を求めたので彼に会った。 |
| 15-5 |
And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in; but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the lands. |
そのころは、出る者にも入る者にも、平安がなく、大いなる騒乱が国々のすべての住民を悩ました。 |
| 15-6 |
And they were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city; for God did vex them with all adversity. |
国は国に、町は町に撃ち砕かれた。神がもろもろの悩みをもって彼らを苦しめられたからです。 |
| 15-7 |
But be ye strong, and let not your hands be slack; for your work shall be rewarded. |
しかしあなたがたは勇気を出しなさい。手を弱くしてはならない。あなたがたのわざには報いがあるからです」。 |
| 15-8 |
And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from the hill-country of Ephraim; and he renewed the altar of Jehovah, that was before the porch of Jehovah. |
アサはこれらの言葉すなわちオデデの子アザリヤの預言を聞いて勇気を得、憎むべき偶像をユダとベニヤミンの全地から除き、また彼がエフライムの山地で得た町々から除き、主の宮の廊の前にあった主の祭壇を再興した。 |
| 15-9 |
And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and them that sojourned with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that Jehovah his God was with him. |
彼はまたユダとベニヤミンの人々およびエフライム、マナセ、シメオンから来て、彼らの間に寄留していた者を集めた。その神、主がアサと共におられるのを見て、イスラエルからアサのもとに下った者が多くあったからである。 |

So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa. |
彼らはアサの治世の十五年の三月にエルサレムに集まり、 |
| 15-11 |
And they sacrificed unto Jehovah in that day, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep. |
携えてきたぶんどり物のうちから牛七百頭、羊七千頭をその日主にささげた。 |
| 15-12 |
And they entered into the covenant to seek Jehovah, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul; |
そして彼らは契約を結び、心をつくし、精神をつくして先祖の神、主を求めることと、 |
| 15-13 |
and that whosoever would not seek Jehovah, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. |
すべてイスラエルの神、主を求めない者は老幼男女の別なく殺さるべきことを約した。 |
| 15-14 |
And they sware unto Jehovah with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets. |
そして彼らは大声をあげて叫び、ラッパを吹き、角笛を鳴らして、主に誓いを立てた。 |
| 15-15 |
And all Judah rejoiced at the oath; for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and Jehovah gave them rest round about. |
ユダは皆その誓いを喜んだ。彼らは心をつくして誓いを立て、精神をつくして主を求めたので、主は彼らに会い、四方で彼らに安息を賜わった。 |
| 15-16 |
And also Maacah, the mother of Asa the king, he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and made dust of it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron. |
アサ王の母マアカがアシラのために憎むべき像を造ったので、アサは彼女をおとして太后とせず、その憎むべき像を切り倒して粉々に砕き、キデロン川でそれを焼いた。 |
| 15-17 |
But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days. |
ただし高き所はイスラエルから除かなかったが、アサの心は一生の間、正しかった。 |
| 15-18 |
And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels. |
彼はまた、その父のささげた物および自分のささげた物、すなわち銀、金並びに器物などを主の宮に携え入れた。 |
| 15-19 |
And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa. |
そしてアサの治世の三十五年までは再び戦争がなかった。 |
