In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah. |
アサの治世の三十六年にイスラエルの王バアシャはユダに攻め上り、ユダの王アサの所にだれをも出入りさせないためにラマを築いた。 |

Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of Jehovah and of the king’s house, and sent to Ben-hadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying, |
そこでアサは主の宮と王の家の宝蔵から金銀を取り出し、ダマスコに住んでいるスリヤの王ベネハダデに贈って言った、 |

There is a league between me and thee, as there was between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me. |
「わたしの父とあなたの父の間のように、わたしとあなたの間に同盟を結びましょう。わたしはあなたに金銀を贈ります。行って、あなたとイスラエルの王バアシャとの同盟を破り、彼をわたしから撤退させてください」。 |

And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-maim, and all the store-cities of Naphtali. |
ベネハダデはアサ王の言うことを聞き、自分の軍勢の長たちをつかわしてイスラエルの町々を攻め、イヨンとダンとアベル・マイムおよびナフタリのすべての倉の町を撃った。 |

And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building Ramah, and let his work cease. |
バアシャはこれを聞いて、ラマを築くことをやめ、その工事を廃した。 |

Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah. |
そこでアサ王はユダの全国の人々を引き連れ、バアシャがラマを建てるために用いた石と木材を運んでこさせ、それをもってゲバとミヅパを建てた。 |

And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and hast not relied on Jehovah thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thy hand. |
そのころ先見者ハナニがユダの王アサのもとに来て言った、「あなたがスリヤの王に寄り頼んで、あなたの神、主に寄り頼まなかったので、スリヤ王の軍勢はあなたの手からのがれてしまった。 |

Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim a huge host, with chariots and horsemen exceeding many? yet, because thou didst rely on Jehovah, he delivered them into thy hand. |
かのエチオピヤびとと、リビアびとは大軍で、その戦車と騎兵は、はなはだ多かったではないか。しかしあなたが主に寄り頼んだので、主は彼らをあなたの手に渡された。 |

For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly; for from henceforth thou shalt have wars. |
主の目はあまねく全地を行きめぐり、自分に向かって心を全うする者のために力をあらわされる。今度の事では、あなたは愚かな事をした。ゆえにこの後、あなたに戦争が臨むであろう」。 |

Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in the prison-house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time. |
するとアサはその先見者を怒って、獄屋に入れた。この事のために激しく彼を怒ったからである。アサはまたそのころ民のある者をしえたげた。 |

And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel. |
見よ、アサの始終の行為は、ユダとイスラエルの列王の書にしるされている。 |
| 16-12 |
And in the thirty and ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet; his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to Jehovah, but to the physicians. |
アサはその治世の三十九年に足を病み、その病は激しくなったが、その病の時にも、主を求めないで医者を求めた。 |
| 16-13 |
And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign. |
アサは先祖たちと共に眠り、その治世の四十一年に死んだ。 |
| 16-14 |
And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had hewn out for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odors and divers kinds of spices prepared by the perfumers’ art: and they made a very great burning for him. |
人々は彼が自分のためにダビデの町に掘っておいた墓に葬り、製香の術をもって造った様々の香料を満たした床に横たえ、彼のためにおびただしく香をたいた。 |
