And he set the priests in their offices, and encouraged them to the service of the house of Jehovah. |
祭司にその職務をとり行わせ、彼らを励まして主の宮の務をさせ、 |
| 35-3 |
And he said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, that were holy unto Jehovah, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; there shall no more be a burden upon your shoulders: now serve Jehovah your God, and his people Israel. |
また主の聖なる者となってすべてのイスラエルびとを教えるレビびとに言った、「あなたがたはイスラエルの王ダビデの子ソロモンの建てた宮に、聖なる箱を置きなさい。再びこれを肩にになうに及ばない。あなたがたの神、主およびその民イスラエルに仕えなさい。 |
| 35-4 |
And prepare yourselves after your fathers’ houses by your courses, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son. |
あなたがたはイスラエルの王ダビデの書、およびその子ソロモンの書に基いて氏族にしたがい、その班によって、みずから備えをなし、 |
| 35-5 |
And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of your brethren the children of the people, and let there be for each a portion of a fathers’ house of the Levites. |
あなたがたの兄弟である民の人々の氏族の区分にしたがって聖所に立ち、このためにレビびとの氏族の分が欠けることのないようにしなさい。 |

And kill the passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare for your brethren, to do according to the word of Jehovah by Moses. |
あなたがたは過越の小羊をほふり、身を清め、あなたがたの兄弟のために備えをし、モーセが伝えた主の言葉にしたがって行いなさい」。 |
| 35-7 |
And Josiah gave to the children of the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all of them for the passover-offerings, unto all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks: these were of the king’s substance. |
ヨシヤは、小羊および子やぎを民の人々に贈った。これは皆その所にいるすべての人のための過越の供え物であって、その数三万、また雄牛三千を贈った。それらは王の所有から出したのである。 |

And his princes gave for a freewill-offering unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, the rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the passover-offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen. |
そのつかさたちも民と祭司とレビびとに真心から贈った。また神の宮のつかさたちヒルキヤ、ゼカリヤ、エヒエルも小羊と子やぎ二千六百頭、牛三百頭を祭司に与えて過越の供え物とした。 |

Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethanel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, the chiefs of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for the passover-offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen. |
またレビびとの長である人々すなわちコナニヤおよびその兄弟シマヤ、ネタンエルならびにハシャビヤ、エイエル、ヨザバデなども小羊と子やぎ五千頭、牛五百頭をレビびとに贈って過越の供え物とした。 |

So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites by their courses, according to the king’s commandment. |
このように勤めのことが備わったので、王の命に従って祭司たちはその持ち場に立ち、レビびとはその班に従って仕え、 |
| 35-11 |
And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood which they received of their hand, and the Levites flayed them. |
やがて過越の小羊がほふられたので、祭司はその血を受け取って注いだ。レビびとはその皮をはいだ。 |
| 35-12 |
And they removed the burnt-offerings, that they might give them according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of the children of the people, to offer unto Jehovah, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen. |
それから燔祭の物をとり分け、それを民の人々の氏族の区分に従って渡し、主にささげさせた。これはモーセの書にしるされたとおりである。また牛をもこのようにした。 |

And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance: and the holy offerings boiled they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and carried them quickly to all the children of the people. |
そして定めに従って過越の小羊を火であぶり、その他の聖なる供え物を深なべ、かま、浅なべなどに煮て、急いですべての民の人々にくばった。 |

And afterward they prepared for themselves, and for the priests, because the priests the sons of Aaron were busied in offering the burnt-offerings and the fat until night: therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron. |
その後、彼らは自分のためと、祭司たちのために備えをした。アロンの子孫である祭司たちは、燔祭と脂肪をささげるのに忙しくて、夜になったからである。それでレビびとは自分たちのためと、アロンの子孫である祭司たちのために備えたのである。 |

And the singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s seer; and the porters were at every gate: they needed not to depart from their service; for their brethren the Levites prepared for them. |
アサフの子孫である歌うたう者たちは、ダビデ、アサフ、ヘマンおよび王の先見者エドトンの命に従ってその持ち場におり、門衛たちはおのおの門にいて、その職務を離れるに及ばなかった。兄弟であるレビびとが彼らのために備えたからである。 |

So all the service of Jehovah was prepared the same day, to keep the passover, and to offer burnt-offerings upon the altar of Jehovah, according to the commandment of king Josiah. |
このようにその日、主の勤めの事がことごとく備わったので、ヨシヤ王の命に従って過越の祭を行い、主の祭壇に燔祭をささげた。 |
| 35-17 |
And the children of Israel that were present kept the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days. |
ここに来ていたイスラエルの人々は、そのとき過越の祭を行い、また七日の間、種入れぬパンの祭を行った。 |
| 35-18 |
And there was no passover like to that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did any of the kings of Israel keep such a passover as Josiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. |
預言者サムエルの日からこのかた、イスラエルでこのような過越の祭を行ったことはなかった。またイスラエルの諸王のうちには、ヨシヤが、祭司、レビびと、ならびにそこに来たユダとイスラエルのすべての人々、およびエルサレムの住民と共に行ったような過越の祭を行った者はひとりもなかった。 |

In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this passover kept. |
この過越の祭はヨシヤの治世の第十八年に行われた。 |
| 35-20 |
After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Neco king of Egypt went up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates: and Josiah went out against him. |
このようにヨシヤが宮を整えた後、エジプトの王ネコはユフラテ川のほとりにあるカルケミシで戦うために上ってきたので、ヨシヤはこれを防ごうと出て行った。 |

But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war; and God hath commanded me to make haste: forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not. |
しかしネコは彼に使者をつかわして言った、「ユダの王よ、われわれはお互に何のあずかるところがありますか。わたしはきょう、あなたを攻めようとして来たのではありません。わたしの敵の家を攻めようとして来たのです。神がわたしに命じて急がせています。わたしと共におられる神に逆らうことをやめなさい。そうしないと、神はあなたを滅ぼされるでしょう」。 |
| 35-22 |
Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and hearkened not unto the words of Neco from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo. |
しかしヨシヤは引き返すことを好まず、かえって彼と戦うために、姿を変え、神の口から出たネコの言葉を聞きいれず、行ってメギドの谷で戦ったが、 |
| 35-23 |
And the archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, Have me away; for I am sore wounded. |
射手の者どもがヨシヤを射あてたので、王はその家来たちに、「わたしを助け出せ。わたしはひどく傷ついた」と言った。 |
| 35-24 |
So his servants took him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Jerusalem; and he died, and was buried in the sepulchres of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah. |
そこで家来たちは彼を車から助け出し、王のもっていた第二の車に乗せてエルサレムにつれて行ったが、ついに死んだので、その先祖の墓にこれを葬った。そしてユダとエルサレムは皆ヨシヤのために悲しんだ。 |
| 35-25 |
And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah: and all the singing men and singing women spake of Josiah in their lamentations unto this day; and they made them an ordinance in Israel: and, behold, they are written in the lamentations. |
時にエレミヤはヨシヤのために哀歌を作った。歌うたう男、歌うたう女は今日に至るまで、その哀歌のうちにヨシヤのことを述べ、イスラエルのうちにこれを例とした。これは哀歌のうちにしるされている。 |

Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his good deeds, according to that which is written in the law of Jehovah, |
ヨシヤのその他の行為、主の律法にしるされた所に従って行った徳行、 |

and his acts, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. |
およびその始終の行いなどは、イスラエルとユダの列王の書にしるされている。 |
