| 9-1 |
Hear, O Israel: thou art to pass over the Jordan this day, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fortified up to heaven, |
イスラエルよ、聞きなさい。あなたは、きょう、ヨルダンを渡って行って、あなたよりも大きく、かつ強い国々を取ろうとしている。その町々は大きく、石がきは天に達している。 |
| 9-2 |
a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the sons of Anak? |
その民は、あなたの知っているアナクびとの子孫であって、大きく、また背が高い。あなたはまた『アナクの子孫の前に、だれが立つことができようか』と人の言うのを聞いた。 |
| 9-3 |
Know therefore this day, that Jehovah thy God is he who goeth over before thee as a devouring fire; he will destroy them, and he will bring them down before thee: so shalt thou drive them out, and make them to perish quickly, as Jehovah hath spoken unto thee. |
それゆえ、あなたは、きょう、あなたの神、主は焼きつくす火であって、あなたの前に進まれることを知らなければならない。主は彼らを滅ぼし、彼らをあなたの前に屈伏させられるであろう。主があなたに言われたように、彼らを追い払い、すみやかに滅ぼさなければならない。 |
| 9-4 |
Speak not thou in thy heart, after that Jehovah thy God hath thrust them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness Jehovah hath brought me in to possess this land; whereas for the wickedness of these nations Jehovah doth drive them out from before thee. |
あなたの神、主があなたの前から彼らを追い払われた後に、あなたは心のなかで『わたしが正しいから主はわたしをこの地に導き入れてこれを獲させられた』と言ってはならない。この国々の民が悪いから、主はこれをあなたの前から追い払われるのである。 |
| 9-5 |
Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thy heart, dost thou go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations Jehovah thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may establish the word which Jehovah sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. |
あなたが行ってその地を獲るのは、あなたが正しいからではなく、またあなたの心がまっすぐだからでもない。この国々の民が悪いから、あなたの神、主は彼らをあなたの前から追い払われるのである。これは主があなたの先祖アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブに誓われた言葉を行われるためである。 |
| 9-6 |
Know therefore, that Jehovah thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people. |
それであなたは、あなたの神、主があなたにこの良い地を与えてこれを得させられるのは、あなたが正しいからではないことを知らなければならない。あなたは強情な民である。 ちのために造った』。 |
| 9-7 |
Remember, forget thou not, how thou provokedst Jehovah thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou wentest forth out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against Jehovah. |
あなたは荒野であなたの神、主を怒らせたことを覚え、それを忘れてはならない。あなたがたはエジプトの地を出た日からこの所に来るまで、いつも主にそむいた。 |
| 9-8 |
Also in Horeb ye provoked Jehovah to wrath, and Jehovah was angry with you to destroy you. |
またホレブにおいてさえ、あなたがたが主を怒らせたので、主は怒ってあなたがたを滅ぼそうとされた。 |
| 9-9 |
When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which Jehovah made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights; I did neither eat bread nor drink water. |
わたしが石の板すなわち主があなたがたと結ばれた契約の板を受けるために山に登った時、わたしは四十日四十夜、山にいて、パンも食べず水も飲まなかった。 |
| 9-10 |
And Jehovah delivered unto me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which Jehovah speak with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly. |
主は神の指をもって書きしるした石の板二枚をわたしに授けられた。その上には、集会の日に主が山で火の中から、あなたがたに告げられた言葉が、ことごとく書いてあった。 |
| 9-11 |
And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that Jehovah gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant. |
すなわち四十日四十夜が終った時、主はわたしにその契約の板である石の板二枚を授け、 |
| 9-12 |
And Jehovah said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people that thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image. |
そして主はわたしに言われた、『おまえは立って、すみやかにこの所から降りなさい。おまえがエジプトから導き出した民は悪を行ったからである。彼らはわたしが命じた道を早くも離れて、鋳た像を自分たちのために造った』。 |
| 9-13 |
Furthermore Jehovah spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: |
主はまたわたしに言われた、『この民を見るのに、これは強情な民である。 |
| 9-14 |
let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they. |
わたしを止めるな。わたしは彼らを滅ぼし、彼らの名を天の下から消し去り、おまえを彼らよりも強く、かつ大いなる国民としよう』。 |
| 9-15 |
So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount was burning with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands. |
そこでわたしは身をめぐらして山を降りたが、山は火で焼けていた。契約の板二枚はわたしの両手にあった。 |
| 9-16 |
And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against Jehovah your God; ye had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which Jehovah had commanded you. |
そしてわたしが見ると、あなたがたは、あなたがたの神、主にむかって罪を犯し、自分たちのために鋳物の子牛を造って、主が命じられた道を早くも離れたので、 |
| 9-17 |
And I took hold of the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes. |
わたしはその二枚の板をつかんで、両手から投げ出し、あなたがたの目の前でこれを砕いた。 |
| 9-18 |
And I fell down before Jehovah, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I did neither eat bread nor drink water; because of all your sin which ye sinned, in doing that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger. |
そしてわたしは前のように四十日四十夜、主の前にひれ伏し、パンも食べず、水も飲まなかった。これはあなたがたが主の目の前に悪をおこない、罪を犯して主を怒らせたすべての罪によるのである。 |
| 9-19 |
For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith Jehovah was wroth against you to destroy you. But Jehovah hearkened unto me that time also. |
主は怒りを発し、憤りを起し、あなたがたを怒って滅ぼそうとされたので、わたしは恐れたが、その時もまた主はわたしの願いを聞かれた。 |
| 9-20 |
And Jehovah was very angry with Aaron to destroy him: and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time. 21?And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount. |
主はまた、はなはだしくアロンを怒って、彼を滅ぼそうとされたが、わたしはその時もまたアロンのために祈った。 9:21わたしはあなたがたが造って罪を得た子牛を取り、それを火で焼き、それを撃ち砕き、よくひいて細かいちりとし、そのちりを山から流れ下る谷川に投げ捨てた。 |

And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount. |
わたしはあなたがたが造って罪を得た子牛を取り、それを火で焼き、それを撃ち砕き、よくひいて細かいちりとし、そのちりを山から流れ下る谷川に投げ捨てた。 |
| 9-22 |
And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah, ye provoked Jehovah to wrath. |
あなたがたはタベラ、マッサおよびキブロテ・ハッタワにおいてもまた主を怒らせた。 |
| 9-23 |
And when Jehovah sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of Jehovah your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice. |
また主はカデシ・バルネアから、あなたがたをつかわそうとされた時、『上って行って、わたしが与える地を占領せよ』と言われた。ところが、あなたがたはあなたがたの神、主の命令にそむき、彼を信ぜず、また彼の声に聞き従わなかった。 |
| 9-24 |
Ye have been rebellious against Jehovah from the day that I knew you. |
わたしがあなたがたを知ったその日からこのかた、あなたがたはいつも主にそむいた。 |
| 9-25 |
So I fell down before Jehovah the forty days and forty nights that I fell down, because Jehovah had said he would destroy you. |
そしてわたしは、さきにひれ伏したように、四十日四十夜、主の前にひれ伏した。主があなたがたを滅ぼすと言われたからである。 |
| 9-26 |
And I prayed unto Jehovah, and said, O Lord Jehovah, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, that thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, that thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand. |
わたしは主に祈って言った、『主なる神よ、あなたが大いなる力をもってあがない、強い手をもってエジプトから導き出されたあなたの民、あなたの嗣業を滅ぼさないでください。 |
| 9-27 |
Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin, |
あなたのしもべアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブを覚えてください。この民の強情と悪と罪とに目をとめないでください。 |
| 9-28 |
lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because Jehovah was not able to bring them into the land which he promised unto them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness. |
あなたがわれわれを導き出された国の人はおそらく、「主は、約束した地に彼らを導き入れることができず、また彼らを憎んだので、彼らを導き出して荒野で殺したのだ」と言うでしょう。 |
| 9-29 |
29?Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy great power and by thine outstretched arm. |
しかし彼らは、あなたの民、あなたの嗣業であって、あなたが大いなる力と伸ばした腕とをもって導き出されたのです』。 |
