I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will look forth to see what he will speak with me, and what I shall answer concerning my complaint. |
わたしはわたしの見張所に立ち、物見やぐらに身を置き、望み見て、彼がわたしになんと語られるかを見、またわたしの訴えについてわたし自らなんと答えたらよかろうかを見よう。 |

And Jehovah answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that readeth it. |
主はわたしに答えて言われた、「この幻を書き、これを板の上に明らかにしるし、走りながらも、これを読みうるようにせよ。 |

For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hasteth toward the end, and shall not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay. |
この幻はなお定められたときを待ち、終りをさして急いでいる。それは偽りではない。もしおそければ待っておれ。それは必ず臨む。滞りはしない。 |

Behold, his soul is puffed up, it is not upright in him; but the righteous shall live by his faith. |
見よ、その魂の正しくない者は衰える。しかし義人はその信仰によって生きる。 |

Yea, moreover, wine is treacherous, a haughty man, that keepeth not at home; who enlargeth his desire as Sheol, and he is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all peoples. |
また、酒は欺くものだ。高ぶる者は定まりがない。彼の欲は陰府のように広い。彼は死のようであって、飽くことなく、万国をおのれに集め、万民をおのれのものとしてつどわせる」。 |

Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and that ladeth himself with pledges! |
これらは皆ことわざをもって彼をあざけり、あざけりのなぞをもって彼をあざ笑わないだろうか。すなわち言う、「わざわいなるかな、おのれに属さないものを増し加える者よ。いつまでこのようであろうか。質物でおのれを重くする者よ」。 |

Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booty unto them? |
あなたの負債者は、にわかに興らないであろうか。あなたを激しくゆすぶる者は目ざめないであろうか。その時あなたは彼らにかすめられる。 |

Because thou hast plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples shall plunder thee, because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all that dwell therein. |
あなたは多くの国民をかすめたゆえ、そのもろもろの民の残れる者は皆あなたをかすめる。これは人の血を流し、国と町と、その中に住むすべての者に暴虐を行ったからである。 |

Woe to him that getteth an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil! |
わざわいなるかな、災の手を免れるために高い所に巣を構えようと、おのが家のために不義の利を取る者よ。 |

Thou hast devised shame to thy house, by cutting off many peoples, and hast sinned against thy soul. |
あなたは事をはかって自分の家に恥を招き、多くの民を滅ぼして、自分の生命を失った。 |

For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it. |
石は石がきから叫び、梁は建物からこれに答えるからである。 |

Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and establisheth a city by iniquity! |
わざわいなるかな、血をもって町を建て、悪をもって町を築く者よ。 |
| 2-13 |
Behold, is it not of Jehovah of hosts that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity? |
見よ、もろもろの民は火のために労し、もろもろの国びとはむなしい事のために疲れる。これは万軍の主から出る言葉ではないか。 |

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea. |
海が水でおおわれているように、地は主の栄光の知識で満たされるからである。 |
| 2-15 |
Woe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink, to thee that addest thy venom, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness! |
わざわいなるかな、その隣り人に怒りの杯を飲ませて、これを酔わせ、彼らの隠し所を見ようとする者よ。 |

Thou art filled with shame, and not glory: drink thou also, and be as one uncircumcised; the cup of Jehovah’s right hand shall come round unto thee, and foul shame shall be upon thy glory. |
あなたは誉の代りに恥に飽き、あなたもまた飲んでよろめけ。主の右の手の杯は、あなたに巡り来る。恥はあなたの誉に代る。 |

For the violence done to Lebanon shall cover thee, and the destruction of the beasts, which made them afraid; because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all that dwell therein. |
あなたがレバノンになした暴虐は、あなたを倒し、獣のような滅亡は、あなたを恐れさせる。これは人の血を流し、国と町と、町の中に住むすべての者に、暴虐を行ったからである。 |

What profiteth the graven image, that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, even the teacher of lies, that he that fashioneth its form trusteth therein, to make dumb idols? |
刻める像、鋳像および偽りを教える者は、その作者がこれを刻んだとてなんの益があろうか。その造ったものに頼んでみても、なんの益があろうか。 |

Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise! Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it. |
わざわいなるかな、木に向かって、さめよと言い、物言わぬ石に向かって、起きよと言う者よ。これは黙示を与え得ようか。見よ、これは金銀をきせたもので、その中には命の息は少しもない。 |

But Jehovah is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him. |
しかし、主はその聖なる宮にいます、全地はそのみ前に沈黙せよ。 |
