Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley of them that are overcome with wine! |
エフライムの酔いどれの誇る冠と、酒におぼれた者の肥えた谷のかしらにあるしぼみゆく花の美しい飾りは、わざわいだ。 |

Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one; as a tempest of hail, a destroying storm, as a tempest of mighty waters overflowing, will he cast down to the earth with the hand. |
見よ、主はひとりの力ある強い者を持っておられる。これはひょうをまじえた暴風のように、破り、そこなう暴風雨のように、大水のあふれみなぎる暴風のように、それを激しく地に投げうつ。 |

The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trodden under foot: |
エフライムの酔いどれの誇る冠は足で踏みにじられる。 |
| 28-4 |
and the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be as the first-ripe fig before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up. |
肥えた谷のかしらにあるしぼみゆく花の美しい飾りは、夏前に熟した初なりのいちじくのようだ。人がこれを見ると、取るやいなや、食べてしまう。 |

In that day will Jehovah of hosts become a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people; |
その日、万軍の主はその民の残った者のために、栄えの冠となり、麗しい冠となられる。 |
| 28-6 |
and a spirit of justice to him that sitteth in judgment, and strength to them that turn back the battle at the gate. |
また、さばきの席に座する者にはさばきの霊となり、戦いを門まで追い返す者には力となられる。 |
| 28-7 |
And even these reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink; the priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they stagger with strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment. |
しかし、これらもまた酒のゆえによろめき、濃き酒のゆえによろける。祭司と預言者とは濃き酒のゆえによろめき、酒のゆえに心みだれ、濃き酒のゆえによろける。彼らは幻を見るときに誤り、さばきを行うときにつまづく。 |

For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean. |
すべての食卓は吐いた物で満ち、清い所はない。 |
| 28-9 |
Whom will he teach knowledge? and whom will he make to understand the message? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts? |
「彼はだれに知識を教えようとするのか。だれにおとずれを説きあかそうとするのか。乳をやめ、乳ぶさを離れた者にするのだろうか。 |

For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little. |
それは教訓に教訓、教訓に教訓、規則に規則、規則に規則。ここにも少し、そこにも少し教えるのだ」。 |
| 28-11 |
Nay, but by men of strange lips and with another tongue will he speak to this people; |
否、むしろ主は異国のくちびると、異国の舌とをもってこの民に語られる。 |
| 28-12 |
to whom he said, This is the rest, give ye rest to him that is weary; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. |
主はさきに彼らに言われた、「これが安息だ、疲れた者に安息を与えよ。これが休息だ」と。しかし彼らは聞こうとはしなかった。 |
| 28-13 |
Therefore shall the word of Jehovah be unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. |
それゆえ、主の言葉は彼らに、教訓に教訓、教訓に教訓、規則に規則、規則に規則、ここにも少し、そこにも少しとなる。これは彼らが行って、うしろに倒れ、破られ、わなにかけられ、捕えられるためである。 |
| 28-14 |
Wherefore hear the word of Jehovah, ye scoffers, that rule this people that is in Jerusalem: |
それゆえ、エルサレムにあるこの民を治めるあざける人々よ、主の言葉を聞け。 |
| 28-15 |
Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: |
あなたがたは言った、「われわれは死と契約をなし、陰府と協定を結んだ。みなぎりあふれる災の過ぎる時にも、それはわれわれに来ない。われわれはうそを避け所となし、偽りをもって身をかくしたからである」。 |
| 28-16 |
therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner-stone of sure foundation: he that believeth shall not be in haste. |
それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしはシオンに一つの石をすえて基とした。これは試みを経た石、堅くすえた尊い隅の石である。『信ずる者はあわてることはない』。 |
| 28-17 |
And I will make justice the line, and righteousness the plummet; and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding-place. |
わたしは公平を、測りなわとし、正義を、下げ振りとする。ひょうは偽りの避け所を滅ぼし、水は隠れ場を押し倒す」。 |
| 28-18 |
And your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. |
その時あなたがたが死とたてた契約は取り消され、陰府と結んだ協定は行われない。みなぎりあふれる災の過ぎるとき、あなたがたはこれによって打ち倒される。 |
| 28-19 |
As often as it passeth through, it shall take you; for morning by morning shall it pass through, by day and by night: and it shall be nought but terror to understand the message. |
それが過ぎるごとに、あなたがたを捕える。それは朝な朝な過ぎ、昼も夜も過ぎるからだ。このおとずれを聞きわきまえることは、全くの恐れである。 |
| 28-20 |
For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it; and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it. |
床が短くて身を伸べることができず、かける夜具が狭くて身をおおうことができないからだ。 |
| 28-21 |
For Jehovah will rise up as in mount Perazim, he will be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his strange work, and bring to pass his act, his strange act. |
主はペラジム山で立たれたように立ちあがり、ギベオンの谷で憤られたように憤られて、その行いをなされる。その行いは類のないものである。またそのわざをなされる。そのわざは異なったものである。 |
| 28-22 |
Now therefore be ye not scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for a decree of destruction have I heard from the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, upon the whole earth. |
それゆえ、あなたがたはあざけってはならない。さもないと、あなたがたのなわめは、きびしくなる。わたしは主なる万軍の神から全地の上に臨む滅びの宣言を聞いたからである。 |
| 28-23 |
Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech. |
あなたがたは耳を傾けて、わが声を聞くがよい。心してわが言葉を聞くがよい。 |
| 28-24 |
Doth he that ploweth to sow plow continually? doth he continually open and harrow his ground? |
種をまくために耕す者は絶えず耕すだろうか。彼は絶えずその地をひらき、まぐわをもって土をならすだろうか。 |
| 28-25 |
When he hath levelled the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and put in the wheat in rows, and the barley in the appointed place, and the spelt in the border thereof? |
地のおもてを平らにしたならば、いのんどをまき、クミンをまき、小麦をうねに植え、大麦を定めた所に植え、スペルト麦をその境に植えないだろうか。 |
| 28-26 |
For his God doth instruct him aright, and doth teach him. |
これは彼の神が正しく、彼を導き教えられるからである。 |
| 28-27 |
For the fitches are not threshed with a sharp threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod. |
いのんどは麦こき板でこかない、クミンはその上に車輪をころがさない。いのんどを打つには棒を用い、クミンを打つにはさおを用いる。 |

Bread grain is ground; for he will not be always threshing it: and though the wheel of his cart and his horses scatter it, he doth not grind it. |
人はパン用の麦を打つとき砕くだろうか、否、それが砕けるまでいつまでも打つことをしない。馬をもってその上に車輪を引かせるとき、それを砕くことをしない。 |
| 28-29 |
This also cometh forth from Jehovah of hosts, who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in wisdom. |
これもまた万軍の主から出ることである。その計りごとは驚くべく、その知恵はすぐれている。 |
