| 51-1 |
Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek Jehovah: look unto the rock whence ye were hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye were digged. |
「義を追い求め、主を尋ね求める者よ、わたしに聞け。あなたがたの切り出された岩と、あなたがたの掘り出された穴とを思いみよ。 |
| 51-2 |
Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you; for when he was but one I called him, and I blessed him, and made him many. |
あなたがたの父アブラハムと、あなたがたを産んだサラとを思いみよ。わたしは彼をただひとりであったときに召し、彼を祝福して、その子孫を増し加えた。 |
| 51-3 |
For Jehovah hath comforted Zion; he hath comforted all her waste places, and hath made her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Jehovah; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. |
主はシオンを慰め、またそのすべて荒れた所を慰めて、その荒野をエデンのように、そのさばくを主の園のようにされる。こうして、その中に喜びと楽しみとがあり、感謝と歌の声とがある。 |

Attend unto me, O my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall go forth from me, and I will establish my justice for a light of the peoples. |
わが民よ、わたしに聞け、わが国びとよ、わたしに耳を傾けよ。律法はわたしから出、わが道はもろもろの民の光となる。 |
| 51-5 |
My righteousness is near, my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the peoples; the isles shall wait for me, and on mine arm shall they trust. |
わが義はすみやかに近づき、わが救は出て行った。わが腕はもろもろの民を治める。海沿いの国々はわたしを待ち望み、わが腕に寄り頼む。 |

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment; and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished. |
目をあげて天を見、また下なる地を見よ。天は煙のように消え、地は衣のようにふるび、その中に住む者は、ぶよのように死ぬ。しかし、わが救はとこしえにながらえ、わが義はくじけることがない。 |
| 51-7 |
Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye dismayed at their revilings. |
義を知る者よ、心のうちにわが律法をたもつ者よ、わたしに聞け。人のそしりを恐れてはならない、彼らのののしりに驚いてはならない。 |

For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool; but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation unto all generations. |
彼らは衣のように、しみに食われ、羊の毛のように虫に食われるからだ。しかし、わが義はとこしえにながらえ、わが救はよろず代に及ぶ」。 |

Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of Jehovah; awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Is it not thou that didst cut Rahab in pieces, that didst pierce the monster? |
主のかいなよ、さめよ、さめよ、力を着よ。さめて、いにしえの日、昔の代にあったようになれ。ラハブを切り殺し、龍を刺し貫いたのは、あなたではなかったか。 |
| 51-10 |
Is it not thou that driedst up the sea, the waters of the great deep; that madest the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over? 1 |
海をかわかし、大いなる淵の水をかわかし、また海の深き所を、あがなわれた者の過ぎる道とされたのは、あなたではなかったか。 |
| 51-11 |
And the ransomed of Jehovah shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. |
主にあがなわれた者は、歌うたいつつ、シオンに帰ってきて、そのこうべに、とこしえの喜びをいただき、彼らは喜びと楽しみとを得、悲しみと嘆きとは逃げ去る。 |
| 51-12 |
I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou art afraid of man that shall die, and of the son of man that shall be made as grass; |
「わたしこそあなたを慰める者だ。あなたは何者なれば、死ぬべき人を恐れ、草のようになるべき人の子を恐れるのか。 |
| 51-13 |
and hast forgotten Jehovah thy Maker, that stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and fearest continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he maketh ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor? |
天をのべ、地の基をすえられたあなたの造り主、主を忘れて、なぜ、しえたげる者が滅ぼそうと備えをするとき、その憤りのゆえに常にひねもす恐れるのか。しえたげる者の憤りはどこにあるか。 |
| 51-14 |
The captive exile shall speedily be loosed; and he shall not die and go down into the pit, neither shall his bread fail. |
身をかがめている捕われ人は、すみやかに解かれて、死ぬことなく、穴にくだることなく、その食物はつきることがない。 |
| 51-15 |
For I am Jehovah thy God, who stirreth up the sea, so that the waves thereof roar: Jehovah of hosts is his name. |
わたしは海をふるわせ、その波をなりどよめかすあなたの神、主である。その名を万軍の主という。 |
| 51-16 |
And I have put my words in thy mouth, and have covered thee in the shadow of my hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people. |
わたしはわが言葉をあなたの口におき、わが手の陰にあなたを隠した。こうして、わたしは天をのべ、地の基をすえ、シオンにむかって、あなたはわが民であると言う」。 |
| 51-17 |
Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, that hast drunk at the hand of Jehovah the cup of his wrath; thou hast drunken the bowl of the cup of staggering, and drained it. |
エルサレムよ、起きよ、起きよ、立て。あなたはさきに主の手から憤りの杯をうけて飲み、よろめかす大杯を、滓までも飲みほした。 |
| 51-18 |
There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand among all the sons that she hath brought up. |
その産んだもろもろの子のなかに、自分を導く者なく、その育てたもろもろの子のなかに、自分の手をとる者がない。 |
| 51-19 |
These two things are befallen thee, who shall bemoan thee? desolation and destruction, and the famine and the sword; how shall I comfort thee? |
これら二つの事があなたに臨んだ――だれがあなたと共に嘆くだろうか――荒廃と滅亡、ききんとつるぎ。だれがあなたを慰めるだろうか。 |
| 51-20 |
Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as an antelope in a net; they are full of the wrath of Jehovah, the rebuke of thy God. |
あなたの子らは息絶えだえになり、網にかかった、かもしかのように、すべてのちまたのすみに横たわり、主の憤りと、あなたの神の責めとは、彼らに満ちている。 |
| 51-21 |
Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine: |
それゆえ、苦しめる者、酒にではなく酔っている者よ、これを聞け。 |
| 51-22 |
Thus saith thy Lord Jehovah, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thy hand the cup of staggering, even the bowl of the cup of my wrath; thou shalt no more drink it again: |
あなたの主、おのが民の訴えを弁護されるあなたの神、主はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしはよろめかす杯をあなたの手から取り除き、わが憤りの大杯を取り除いた。あなたは再びこれを飲むことはない。 |
| 51-23 |
and I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee, that have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over; and thou hast laid thy back as the ground, and as the street, to them that go over. |
わたしはこれをあなたを悩ます者の手におく。彼らはさきにあなたにむかって言った、『身をかがめよ、われわれは越えていこう』と。そしてあなたはその背を地のようにし、ちまたのようにして、彼らの越えていくにまかせた」。 |
