| 11-1 |
The word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying, |
主からエレミヤに臨んだ言葉は言う、 |
| 11-2 |
Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem; |
「この契約の言葉を聞き、ユダの人々とエルサレムに住む者に告げよ。 |
| 11-3 |
and say thou unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Cursed be the man that heareth not the words of this covenant, |
彼らに言え、イスラエルの神、主はこう仰せられる、この契約の言葉に従わない人は、のろわれる。 |
| 11-4 |
which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God; |
この契約は、わたしがあなたがたの先祖をエジプトの地、鉄のかまどの中から導き出した時に、彼らに命じたところのものである。すなわち、その時わたしは彼らに言った、わたしの声を聞き、あなたがたに命じるすべてのことを行うならば、あなたがたはわたしの民となり、わたしはあなたがたの神となる。 |
| 11-5 |
that I may establish the oath which I sware unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as at this day. Then answered I, and said, Amen, O Jehovah. |
そして、わたしがあなたがたの先祖に、乳と蜜との流れる地を与えると誓ったことを、なし遂げると。すなわち今日のとおりである」。その時わたしは、「主よ、仰せのとおりです」と答えた。 |
| 11-6 |
And Jehovah said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them. |
主はわたしに言われた、「このすべての言葉を、ユダの町々と、エルサレムのちまたに告げ示し、この契約の言葉を聞き、これを行え、と言いなさい。 |
| 11-7 |
For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice. |
わたしは、あなたがたの先祖をエジプトの地から導き出した時から今日にいたるまで、おごそかに彼らを戒め、絶えず戒めて、わたしの声に聞き従うようにと言った。 |
| 11-8 |
Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the stubbornness of their evil heart: therefore I brought upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they did them not. |
しかし彼らは従わず、その耳を傾けず、おのおの自分の悪い強情な心に従って歩んだ。それゆえ、わたしはこの契約の言葉をもって彼らを責めた。これはわたしが彼らに行えと命じたが、行わなかったものである」。 |
| 11-9 |
And Jehovah said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem. |
主はまたわたしに言われた、「ユダの人々とエルサレムに住む者のうちに反逆の事がある。 |
| 11-10 |
They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear my words; and they are gone after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers. |
彼らは、わたしの言葉を聞くことを拒んだその先祖たちの罪に立ち返り、またほかの神々に従ってそれに仕えた。イスラエルの家とユダの家とは、わたしがその先祖たちと結んだ契約を破った。 |
| 11-11 |
Therefore thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and they shall cry unto me, but I will not hearken unto them. |
それゆえ主はこう言われる、見よ、わたしは災を彼らの上に下す。彼らはそれを免れることはできない。彼らがわたしを呼んでも、わたしは聞かない。 |
| 11-12 |
Then shall the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem go and cry unto the gods unto which they offer incense: but they will not save them at all in the time of their trouble. |
ユダの町々とエルサレムに住む者は、行って、自分たちがそれに香をたいている神々に呼び求めるが、これらは、彼らの災の時にも決して彼らを救うことはできない。 |
| 11-13 |
For according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to the shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal. |
ユダよ、あなたの神々は、あなたの町の数ほど多くなった。またあなたがたはエルサレムのちまたの数ほどの祭壇を恥ずべき者のために立てた。すなわちバアルに香をたくための祭壇である。 |
| 11-14 |
Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me because of their trouble. |
それゆえ、この民のために祈ってはならない。また彼らのために泣き、あるいは祈り求めてはならない。彼らがその災の時に、わたしに呼ばわっても、わたしは彼らに聞くことをしないからだ。 |
| 11-15 |
What hath my beloved to do in my house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest. |
わが愛する者は、わたしの家で何をするのか。すでにこれは悪事を行った。誓願と犠牲の肉とがあなたに災を免れさせることができるであろうか。それであなたは喜ぶことができるであろうか。 |
| 11-16 |
Jehovah called thy name, A green olive-tree, fair with goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken. |
主はあなたを、かつては『良い実のなる美しい青々としたオリブの木』と呼ばれたが、激しい暴風のとどろきと共に、主はそれに火をかけ、その枝を焼き払われるのである。 |
| 11-17 |
For Jehovah of hosts, who planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have wrought for themselves in provoking me to anger by offering incense unto Baal. |
あなたを植えた万軍の主は、あなたに向かって災を言い渡された。これはイスラエルの家とユダの家とが悪を行い、バアルに香をたいて、わたしを怒らせたからである」。 |
| 11-18 |
And Jehovah gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it: then thou showedst me their doings. |
主が知らせてくださったので、わたしはそれを知った。その時、あなたは彼らの悪しきわざをわたしに示された。 |
| 11-19 |
But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered. |
しかしわたしは、ほふられに行く、おとなしい小羊のようで、彼らがわたしを害しようと、計りごとをめぐらしているのを知らなかった。彼らは言う、「さあ、木とその実を共に滅ぼそう。生ける者の地から彼を絶って、その名を人に忘れさせよう」。 |
| 11-20 |
But, O Jehovah of hosts, who judgest righteously, who triest the heart and the mind, I shall see thy vengeance on them; for unto thee have I revealed my cause. |
正しいさばきをし、人の心と思いを探られる万軍の主よ、わたしは自分の訴えをあなたにお任せしました。あなたが彼らにあだをかえされるのを見させてください。 |
| 11-21 |
Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Thou shalt not prophesy in the name of Jehovah, that thou die not by our hand; |
それゆえ主はアナトテの人々についてこう言われる、彼らはあなたの命を取ろうと求めて言う、「主の名によって預言してはならない。それをするならば、あなたはわれわれの手にかかって死ぬであろう」。 |
| 11-22 |
therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the
young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall
die by famine; |
それで万軍の主はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしは彼らを罰する。若い人はつるぎで死に、彼らのむすこ娘は、ききんで死に、 |
| 11-23 |
and there shall be no remnant unto them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation. |
だれも残る者はない。わたしがアナトテの人々に災を下し、彼らを罰する年をこさせるからである」。 |
