| 12-1 |
Righteous art thou, O Jehovah, when I contend with thee; yet would I reason the cause with thee: wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they at ease that deal very treacherously? |
主よ、わたしがあなたと論じ争う時、あなたは常に正しい。しかしなお、わたしはあなたの前に、さばきのことを論じてみたい。悪人の道がさかえ、不信実な者がみな繁栄するのはなにゆえですか。 |

Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root; they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their heart. |
あなたが彼らを植えられたので、彼らは根づき、育って、実を結びます。彼らは口ではあなたに近づきますが、心はあなたから遠ざかっています。 |

But thou, O Jehovah, knowest me; thou seest me, and triest my heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter. |
主よ、あなたはわたしを知り、わたしを見、わたしの心があなたに対していかにあるかを試みられます。ほふるために羊を引き出すように、彼らを引き出し、殺す日にそなえて、彼らを残しておいてください。 |

How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of the whole country wither? for the wickedness of them that dwell therein, the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our latter end. |
いつまで、この地は嘆き、どの畑の野菜も枯れていてよいでしょうか。この地に住む者の悪によって、この地に住む者の悪によって、獣と鳥は滅びうせます。人々は言いました、「彼はわれわれの終りを見ることはない」と。 |

If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and though in a land of peace thou art secure, yet how wilt thou do in the pride of the Jordan? |
「もしあなたが、徒歩の人と競争して疲れるなら、どうして騎馬の人と競うことができようか。もし安全な地で、あなたが倒れるなら、ヨルダンの密林では、どうするつもりか。 |

For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; even they have cried aloud after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee. |
あなたの兄弟たち、あなたの父の家のものさえ、あなたを欺き、大声をあげて、あなたを追っている。彼らが親しげにあなたに語ることがあっても、彼らを信じてはならない」。 |

I have forsaken my house, I have cast off my heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies. |
「わたしはわが家を離れ、わが嗣業を捨て、わが魂の愛する者を敵の手に渡した。 |
| 12-8 |
My heritage is become unto me as a lion in the forest: she hath uttered her voice against me; therefore I have hated her. |
わたしの嗣業は、わたしにとって林の中のししのようになった。これはわたしに向かってその声をあげる。それゆえわたしはこれを憎む。 |
| 12-9 |
Is my heritage unto me as a speckled bird of prey? are the birds of prey against her round about? go ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, bring them to devour. |
わたしの嗣業は、わたしにとって、斑点のある猛禽のようではないか。他の猛禽がこれを囲んでいるではないか。行って、野の獣をみな集め、連れてきてこれを食べさせよ。 |

Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness. |
多くの牧者たちはわたしのぶどう畑を滅ぼし、わたしの地を踏み荒した。わたしの麗しい地を荒れた野にした。 |
| 12-11 |
They have made it a desolation; it mourneth unto me, being desolate; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart. |
彼らはこれを荒れ地としてしまった。その荒れ地がわたしに向かって嘆くのだ。全地は荒れ地にされた。しかし、ひとりもこれを心に留める者はない。 |

Destroyers are come upon all the bare heights in the wilderness; for the sword of Jehovah devoureth from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh hath peace. |
滅ぼす者どもが荒野のすべての、はげ山の上にきた。主のつるぎが、地の、この果から、かの果までを滅ぼすのだ。命あるものは安らかであることができない。 |
| 12-13 |
They have sown wheat, and have reaped thorns; they have put themselves to pain, and profit nothing: and ye shall be ashamed of your fruits, because of the fierce anger of Jehovah. |
彼らは麦をまいて、いばらを刈り取る。苦労してもなんの利益もない。彼らはその収穫を恥じるようになる。主の激しい怒りによってである」。 |
| 12-14 |
Thus saith Jehovah against all mine evil neighbors, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit: behold, I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house of Judah from among them. |
わたしがわが民イスラエルにつがせた嗣業に手を触れるすべての悪い隣り人について、主はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしは彼らをその地から抜き出し、ユダの家を彼らのうちから抜き出す。 |
| 12-15 |
And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them up, I will return and have compassion on them; and I will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land. |
わたしは、彼らを抜き出したのちに、また彼らをあわれんで、それぞれその嗣業に導き返し、おのおのを、その地に帰らせる。 |

And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, As Jehovah liveth; even as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built up in the midst of my people. |
もし彼らがわたしの民の道を学び、わたしの名によって、『主は生きておられる』と言って誓うことが、かつて彼らがわたしの民に教えてバアルをさして誓わせたようになるならば、彼らはわたしの民のうちに建てられる。 |
| 12-17 |
But if they will not hear, then will I pluck up that nation, plucking up and destroying it, saith Jehovah. |
しかし耳をかさない民があるときは、わたしはその民を抜き出して滅ぼすと、主は言われる」。 |
