Now Pashhur, the son of Immer the priest, who was chief officer in the house of Jehovah, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things. |
さて祭司インメルの子で、主の宮のつかさの長であったパシュルは、エレミヤがこれらの事を預言するのを聞いた。 |

Then Pashhur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in the house of Jehovah. |
そしてパシュルは預言者エレミヤを打ち、主の宮にある上のベニヤミンの門の足かせにつないだ。 |
| 20-3 |
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashhur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, Jehovah hath not called thy name Pashhur, but Magor-missabib. |
その翌日パシュルがエレミヤを足かせから解き放した時、エレミヤは彼に言った、「主はあなたの名をパシュルとは呼ばないで、『恐れが周囲にある』と呼ばれる。 |

For thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends; and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it; and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive to Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword. |
主はこう仰せられる、見よ、わたしはあなたを、あなた自身とあなたのすべての友だちに恐れを起させる者とする。彼らはあなたが見ている目の前で敵のつるぎに倒れる。わたしはまたユダのすべての民をバビロン王の手に渡す。彼は彼らを捕えてバビロンに移し、つるぎをもって殺す。 |

Moreover I will give all the riches of this city, and all the gains thereof, and all the precious things thereof, yea, all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies; and they shall make them a prey, and take them, and carry them to Babylon. |
わたしはまたこの町のすべての富と、その獲たすべての物と、そのすべての貴重な物と、ユダの王たちのすべての宝物をその敵の手に渡す。彼らはこれをかすめ、民を捕えてバビロンに移す。 |

And thou, Pashhur, and all that dwell in thy house shall go into captivity; and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and there shalt thou be buried, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied falsely. |
パシュルよ、あなたと、あなたの家に住む者とはみな捕え移される。あなたはバビロンに行って、その所で死に、その所に葬られる。あなたも、あなたが偽って預言した言葉に聞き従った友もみなそのようになる」。 |

O Jehovah, thou hast persuaded me, and I was persuaded; thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am become a laughing-stock all the day, every one mocketh me. |
主よ、あなたがわたしを欺かれたので、わたしはその欺きに従いました。あなたはわたしよりも強いので、わたしを説き伏せられたのです。わたしは一日中、物笑いとなり、人はみなわたしをあざけります。 |

For as often as I speak, I cry out; I cry, Violence and destruction! because the word of Jehovah is made a reproach unto me, and a derision, all the day. |
それは、わたしが語り、呼ばわるごとに、「暴虐、滅亡」と叫ぶからです。主の言葉が一日中、わが身のはずかしめと、あざけりになるからです。 |

And if I say, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with forbearing, and I cannot contain. |
もしわたしが、「主のことは、重ねて言わない、このうえその名によって語る事はしない」と言えば、主の言葉がわたしの心にあって、燃える火のわが骨のうちに閉じこめられているようで、それを押えるのに疲れはてて、耐えることができません。 |

For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. Denounce, and we will denounce him, say all my familiar friends, they that watch for my fall; peradventure he will be persuaded, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him. |
多くの人のささやくのを聞くからです。恐れが四方にあります。「告発せよ。さあ、彼を告発しよう」と言って、わが親しい友は皆わたしのつまずくのを、うかがっています。また、「彼は欺かれるだろう。そのとき、われわれは彼に勝って、あだを返すことができる」と言います。 |

But Jehovah is with me as a mighty one and a terrible: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail; they shall be utterly put to shame, because they have not dealt wisely, even with an everlasting dishonor which shall never be forgotten. |
しかし主は強い勇士のようにわたしと共におられる。それゆえ、わたしに迫りくる者はつまずき、わたしに打ち勝つことはできない。彼らは、なし遂げることができなくて、大いに恥をかく。その恥は、いつまでも忘れられることはない。 |

But, O Jehovah of hosts, that triest the righteous, that seest the heart and the mind, let me see thy vengeance on them; for unto thee have I revealed my cause. |
正しき者を試み、人の心と思いを見られる万軍の主よ、あなたが彼らに、あだを返されるのを見せてください。わたしはあなたに、わたしの訴えをお任せしたからです。 |
| 20-13 |
Sing unto Jehovah, praise ye Jehovah; for he hath delivered the soul of the needy from the hand of evil-doers. |
主に向かって歌い、主をほめたたえよ。主は貧しい者の命を、悪人の手から救われたからである。 |
| 20-14 |
Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed. |
わたしの生れた日はのろわれよ。母がわたしを産んだ日は祝福を受けるな。 |
| 20-15 |
Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man-child is born unto thee; making him very glad. |
わたしの父に「男の子が、生れました」と告げて、彼を大いに喜ばせた人は、のろわれよ。 |
| 20-16 |
And let that man be as the cities which Jehovah overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear a cry in the morning, and shouting at noontime; |
その人は、主のあわれみを受けることなく、滅ぼされた町のようになれ。朝には、彼に叫びを聞かせ、昼には戦いの声を聞かせよ。 |

because he slew me not from the womb; and so my mother would have been my grave, and her womb always great. |
彼がわたしを胎内で殺さず、わが母をわたしの墓場となさず、その胎をいつまでも大きくしなかったからである。 |
| 20-18 |
Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labor and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame? |
なにゆえにわたしは胎内を出てきて、悩みと悲しみに会い、恥を受けて一生を過ごすのか。 |
